    The felt helps with even water dispersal so you don't have any dry areas, no channeling like may get from a micro drip system. Suggest a inline filter especially since running recirculating. A pump like that will only work for a few plants, will be difficult to dial in the pulse WCS in the coco, more for open flow systems. When you start trying to dial in for crop steering you'll wanna know precisely how much your watering, that is n when u will go to an inline jet filter like a seaflo, leader, Sanchez, dab (makes leader or visa versa)along with micro drippers (they require a minimum psi) you would use even less water however without atleast like a blue lab doser for either ph up or ph down (once dialed in) and a top off to reservior because you'll be watering a fraction of what ur using now do run off EC will be much higher. This is when the pulse pro comes into play measuring your dry backs between shots (wateringd) and over night.

    The downside I see with this system is that the pots have to be very level, otherwise tilting even a couple of degrees will redirect the water to one side of the pot. It is necessary to check with a level tool whether the pots are level.

    • @TopGrowTV
      @TopGrowTV  9 месяцев назад +2

      Along as the platforms are sitting on relatively flat ground, the tray and matrix pad will soak up the water pretty evenly. Along as your matrix pad sitting directly on top of the medium, it will wick into the medium pretty evenly.

    • @TopGrowTV
      @TopGrowTV  5 месяцев назад +1

      You could easily adapt this setup to feed from a remote res. If it were me, I would put an inline pump in place before the system and have that plumbed to whatever water source you'd like.

      @@TopGrowTV ok cool thank you., I really dig the system and bout purchase it cuz I like the idea of the return to the resivour. But concerns with run off EC going back into the res would cause a significant issue with nutrients in the res falling outta balance from both the potential for precipitation-nutrients falling out of suspension and toxicities and deficiencies.
      Anything issues you can speak on with running synthetic nutrients through the reservoir and recycling the run off like that? Thanks in advance

    • @TopGrowTV
      @TopGrowTV  9 месяцев назад +4

      I usually run this setup with a drain to waste style. I do know that running it back to the reservoir will also work, you would definitely want to monitor the status of the reservoir when the waste is reintroduced to make sure things aren't getting out of whack. Also using a sterile medium such as coco coir will make sure u aren't introducing any organic material to turn your reservoir sour

    I recommend Earthboxes or Patio Pickers, or a homemade version. They have no moving parts, no pumps, no valves and nothing else that can fail. You put water in the tube to fill the reservoir and the water wicks up into the soil. All you need is some decent organic soil and plants. During veg they usually need water once a week. During flower they need to be filled twice a week, more or less. It's super easy and effective.

    • @TopGrowTV
      @TopGrowTV  8 месяцев назад +3

      Great idea also. This system is designed more for coco. You can water 2-3 times per light cycle in coco. Soil-less medium will hold less water and can be fertigated multiple times a day. Some people don't have the luxury of being in the garden that often.

    • @comfortablynumb9342
      @comfortablynumb9342 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@TopGrowTV I'm not into complicating things. You can't get easier than Earthboxes and good organic soil. I can't play with my garden 3 times a day. Once a day or every other day is enough with the easy way I do it.

    • @TopGrowTV
      @TopGrowTV  8 месяцев назад +4

      You are right. We don't have the time to get into our garden that often. That is the purpose of this system. We can experience the growth rate of a hydroponic/soil-less grow, without having to do as much. If you have a big enough reservoir, you could be gone for a week if you wanted too.

    • @comfortablynumb9342
      @comfortablynumb9342 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@TopGrowTV hydroponics seem like a lot of work with the pH tests and PPM checks. I used to have aquaponics systems for veggies and it was awesome. But for me the easiest way to grow indoors is with soil and wicking beds.
