  • A lot of my videos are created based on my own experiences, and these are my views, which may differ from other producers. My goal in making these videos is to shed light and help guide new filmmakers. There's no single way to reach out to executives and producers, but I want to share what has worked for me. When I have an interest in a producer, I try to get their information on IMDB. If someone isn't there, they are probably not actively working in the film industry, as most professionals have at least one project listed.
One critical thing to be wary of is a ‘producer’ reaching out to you and asking for money upfront. While everyone needs to make a living, taking advantage of new filmmakers by charging advance fees is not ethical. Often, these so-called producers will provide long contracts stating, “No guarantee of success,” which essentially means you are just handing over your money without any real promise of help. Always do your homework-google the person, ask around, and find out what their last successful project was. Check if they are listed as executive producers, who typically invest in the project. This varies based on the project and their agreement, but it's a good indicator of their legitimacy.
In closing, I suggest three simple things when reaching out to producers. First, look for producers on IMDB and ensure they work in your specific genre. Second, enter film festivals that offer meetings with executives. This is a great way to make direct connections. Lastly, invest in a small project and email producers about it. Share your passion and vision, and see if they are interested in collaborating.
Remember, this advice isn't guaranteed to work every time, but it's based on my experience and is free to follow. Stay positive, keep moving forward, and don't get discouraged by setbacks. Every step you take brings you closer to your goal.
