My husband and I have been married 48yrs. It all started with a blind date and then a wedding 6 short months latter! Those short engagements never work out so we’ve agreed if the next 50 yrs aren’t ANY better than the last 50 yrs, we’ll call it quits! LOL!!
My mom saw my dad walk into her Art class at High School and said to someone “I’m going to marry that guy” And they got married shortly after that and were married 53 years when my mom passed away in 2011. This past February 15th would have been their 63rd Anniversary.
One of the many reasons that I keep coming to see Grandpa, is that he is so humble and kind. There are other channels that get angry when anyone suggests things in regards to their animals, but Grandpa, he is selfless, and it's all about his animals and what's best for them. He may already be aware of some of the things that people suggest, but I've never heard him, or seen him, react in a way that makes viewers feel bad for trying to help! Thank you for being you Grandpa!!

Love how you relate to all the critters. As a Mississippi farm girl (from many years ago) have had those times and lived to “tell the tales” with chickens, pigs, dogs, cats, horses, cows, mules and few other animals.
Grandpa keep on singing…love the songs. You and Grandma raised some great sons. I see where their sense of humor, singing, joking and just loving life comes from. That deck box It’s a great idea for food storage!
They are NOT going to go after their own eggs. Try this: when you use your eggs, save the shells. I use, and reuse, a 1 gallon freezer bag. When the bag is full, give it a few squeezes, to crush up the shells a bit, then go dump it in the chicken pen. They are smart. If you do it separately from feeding, they figure out real quick when your bringing the "treat"
You are absolutely right. They use the shells in their digestive system the same way birds use small pebbles.
Grandpa, you’re getting really good at catching those chickens!! Watch those low hanging branches before you end up in the emergency room some day!

Try elevating the drinking water for Bella and Olivia so that it is head high - they will probably bypass it to wallow in the larger one if it is not easy to climb into the smaller one.

Actually eating dirt is good for them. It contains the iron they need for their bodies. That way they won't get sick and need a shot of iron

Lola is a good role model for the little girls! Perhaps they will follow her example and become more polite at treat time. 😊 I look forward to seeing all of the animals every video, but I admit to some extra fondness for Smokey, Batman, Foghorn and Lola. Thank you for sharing them all with us!
Hey before you let them out please put hotwire on the inside of those hog panels so they get trained to it. It usually only takes a week but if you just let them out they will run right through it. No matter where you put the water bowl they will always lay in it 😂 my 350lb kune kune lays in his tiny water bowl even though he has a wallow, it’s amusing. My female kune is really sick right now and no clue what is wrong with her but I’m trying everything I know and if she’s not better by Monday I’m going to call the vet and pray they see pigs 😭 she’s my baby so I’m praying she pulls through.

Awe y’all are so sweet and thank you for the prayers. I’m hoping she pulls through, I just wish I knew what was wrong but I’ve given her antibiotics, oral vitamins and electrolytes and I can get her to drink water when I bring the hose and she drinks it straight from the nozzle so that makes me hopeful. Going to give her some mineral oil in case she’s constipated, she threw up yesterday morning.
Grandpa you are the Pied Piper of those chickens they follow you from one end of the pen to the other they just love the attention you give them and we enjoy watching you so much I feel like family after spending time with you and the chickens God bless you and yours
