Oh my God this game is so underrated I don't know why people are not talking about it
I'm actually playing it right now. The game does have some apparent issues. Outside of the boring side missions, some main missions are just tedious like the stealth ones. The gameplay can sometimes be wonky with collision and hit detection. Camera can sometimes be annoying, since there is no lock--on when doing air battles. Enemies are uninteresting in both look and gameplay design. Lastly some sections of the story and missions drag on for longer than they should.
JUST TO BE CLEAR, I just cited some issues I think the game has, but that doesn't mean it's a "bad" game. The game is clearly unique. The feeling of "rushing" through the sky with your gravity powers is truly breathtaking. The art direction, music and world design are all awesome as well. The story can be intriguing at times, especially towards the end where I'm at. They did also add some gameplay elements, like the styles and Panther Mode, which are fun. Lastly the cutscenes are almost always fun to watch as well.
The game has some amazing elements, but it's also dragged down by some annoying stuff, that a lot of people who look back on it probably forget, because they mostly remember the cool moments.

It’s actually a cool detail to see Kat actually activate her stasis field when the skewer flew out of her hand. It signifies that her powers just activated out of instinct.

Looking back on this years later, this animation is still really impressive. It captures the essence of the game, the characters and their dynamics, and is filled with heart to boot! This is an excellent set-up for Gravity Rush 2.

This makes me sad I finished both the games. I'd love to see another GR, but the ending of two has me thinking there won't be any. This series is criminally underrated.

From what I heard from the other people in comment section, is that the creator either is done with this series or is taking a long break, and even if he comes back to this series, he might start with a new cast of characters.

A third is unlikely, but I’m not so mad about that, Gravity Rush 2 is simply incredible and I wouldn’t mind the series ending on such a high note 😻

@@Heimdall66 as fans of the series, let's have a discussion. IMO a flawed game that has so much potential.
The characters, world, art style, soundtrack and sometimes combat are all absolutely fantastic and all mixed together is when the game is at its best. However the story and gameplay/mission design drags it down for me. I prefer Kat's fish-out-of-water story in 1 which lets us relate to her more, and there's always a bigger narrative. For the first half of 2, stuff just "happens" with no real bigger picture, characters are introduced and are sudden thrown out when they seem to indicate being a future threat (the council) and it seems like a general waste of time. (Spoilers) when Hekseville comes back, it honestly feels really cheap as a way to pad out playtime when there's so much they can do with Jih Para Lhao that isn't explored to the fullest.
There are some missions which are quite good and give life to the world (defending shops and mining). However other missions DO NOT SERVICE THE GAMEPLAY AT ALL. Episode 12 (or when you enter a giant monster city) is one of, if not, the most horribly designed missions in the game, which cramps you in narrow hallways when the game is designed to have you fly around in open spaces. Stealth missions are also horrible when you're specifically not meant to use powers given to you. You're not even allowed to be smart, and the AI is intentionally dogshit so it compensates for this very issue, despite being discouraged to play the game normally. Missions like these banish the gameplay to an unenjoyable slog for me. On a side note, upgrades are not as useful as they were in 1 and the camera is very finicky.
I didn't mean to write out so much but I hope you understand my view on 2. I love the series and I'm sure you do too, and 1 is legit my favourite game ever, despite its flaws. Any further discussion would be appreciated, my dude.

Nah it wasn’t me, I may be an Xbox user but this is my favourite game, I’d understand if they never brought this gem to Xbox (mostly because its a PS exclusive) but maybe the least they could do is PC, I don’t want to buy a console just for one game, I would do it because GR is phenomenal but I don’t just have that kind of money sitting in my pockets. And again, it may be people who just didn’t like the animation or the game (which is unfortunate but understandable, everyone has their own tastes).
First Hyperdimension Neptunia now Gravity Rush. My favorite underrated series is getting the popularity it deserves. I hope Gravity Rush truly does get an anime also.

Sure we live in an era where "If you're not from the old school you shouldn't be here,get out noob lolz", but that doesn't give them the right to treat some people like the people above where they (the bad people) think they're almighty to do so.. The day they don't get subs in a youtube vid and need fansubs to happen (Wich needs work and time) they should remember what they just did..
I just pointed the obvious.. If CC is off by default by some people's youtube players or by custom preference, there should be a message at the very beginning of the video saying to turn on the subs, just like they did with the useless "Click here to jump to Face B" wich just did a tiny 2 second jump gap...I think... BUT STILL YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

this game needs more recognition than it has right now. gravity rush is one of my 1st video game ever played in my own ps vita (my very 1st video game device), and its really part of my childhood. other than bomber man and sonic, gravity rush is one of my most played game back then. now i'm ready to play this game again

This animation in a nutshell: Kat being a queen
This franchise has a higher hurdle for getting invested; anime girl protagonist, anime style aesthetic, completely different gameplay mechanics, high fantasy world, none of which are inherently bad at all but can be daunting for a new player or someone unfamiliar with those things from getting into it. So I can see why it isn't too popular, but man, getting over that hurdle exposes you to such a unique experience.
I really hope Sony continues this series. The gameplay has so much potential to build on. Getting the right marketing push and polishing it more could yield big results. If another series that had a similar problem of having a high hurdle (Monster Hunter) can break into higher popularity after persisting for so long, I really think Gravity Rush could do the same.

Now, this is the Best Gravity Rush Anime Short Episode I can DEFINITELY get used to right here! Kat and Raven are the Best Unstoppable Kick-Ass Teammates I love right here! Those two are Super Cool and Awesome with their Unstoppable Gravity powers and martial arts combined, nothing, and, I LITERALLY mean nothing can stop those two!
And then you finish GR2 and Syd's song at 10:10 has a whole new meaning...

We all gotta start somewhere. Trying the newest one before going back to the old ones is common, you don't have to act like people are too stupid to know there's more there if they like the new one.
Gravity Rush 2 is my favourite 1st party title from PlayStation. It's such a charming, fun, wholesome adventure with loveable characters, a well written story and endless playability. I really wish Sony would have done more to support it rather than close down its servers and sweep it under the rug due to poor sales. I admit, it's not for casual gamers and it's not for everyone but this passion project really nails everything I personally look for in a video game. I can't think of an action game that offered so much narrative, variety and wholesome fun that just keeps you wanting to come back for more, even after you've completed the storyline. I hope that when it becomes free on PSN Plus, everyone will see what an absolute gem this title is and respond loudly enough to have Sony green light a 3rd release of this adorable franchise!

JM really? I always thought it was more expensive because of the computer generating it would take. 2d is mostly drawing and bringing the drawings to life. Or so my understanding goes. 🧐
@@JayAshBranAudioScripts drawing at 24 frames per second is basically drawing the same character moving a little bit 24 times, and that takes hours and hours. With 3D animation, computers help you out a bunch and you can set paths for things that move and the computer will follow it. It's still a very time consuming process, but it beats 2D animation efficiency by a mile.
(but 2d looks better and is more impressive in my opinion😛)

it is actually a fake language? The Closed Captions option works. I can't understand it, so I know it's not Spanish or French. I can understand some Portuguese so I'm pretty sure it's not Portuguese. Romanian, maybe?

I beat the game before watching this, and this answered a few of my questions that hadn't been answered, but now I'm left with more questions than before and am already believing that Gravity Rush 3 is a possibility.

If anyone didn't hear the good news yet. We're getting a Gravity Rush Movie. They heard are pleads. Not only that, but Keiichiro Toyama has stated in an interview they he wants ri bring the Gravity Rush games to PC. And make a 3rd game for the franchise. Look it up and you'll see what I'm talking about. They got a video on RUclips talking about it.

I stumbled across GR1 as part of the PS Now sub, and I ended up finishing it in three days, then the same day went out to get GR2. I love love love this world, it's amazing, and the characters are very interesting. I have to say my #1 fav woman is Raven. I was literally trying not to scream when I saw her while watching this cause it was like 11:30 p.m. lol... I do wish there was more content *sighs*
