We loved The Spirit of Troy marching band during the pregame show, halftime and we stay after the game to watch the marching band even if lost or win the games. We want to congratulate Dr Arthur C Bartner for his retirement. We are going to miss him dearly. Nobody can replace a marvelous man.
@@derrickswynn It is pretty freaking Awesome. I'm usually standing as close to the rail and Dr. Bartner as I can get and haven't missed too many in the last 20 years.
Benny Goodman's "Sing,Sing, Sing!! (with a Swing)." I LOVE this choice of a number...and my only regret in seeing this is that the band is not that of my alma mater--the University of Washington marching band...one of the greatest. Great performance U.S.C.!! Outstanding. Benny would have like it.
Lol this is bril. Only found it today. Normally 14 tubas i counted 40. Lol fab video. Never seen so many people having so much fun. They would have played all night. But the guy wanted to lock up.
This is what I would consider as a former videographer a perfect shot angle! The foreground is all inclusive since apparently the idea was to get the entirety of the Spirit of Troy into this video. There isn't any panning all over the place. What the audience wants is to view the content from an uninterrupted and uninhibited view.
whoever is playing your lead trumpet should be used all the time unlike this other groups performances. Very exciting and tasteful where he decides to go for it. Also the bones and tubas, whole group in general sounds much better then current performances.
The song is from the 1984 Olympics. 130 band members and Dr Bartner were a part of the 800+ member band from all 50 states. Since then, the song has been a feature for the USC Silks and the percussion section. Historically, the song girls did not have a routine for this song.
I just read this video's description & noticed that this was the postgame against the Arizona wildcats & still USC chants about how much they hate UCLA 🤭 the Trojans weren't even playing against the bruins 🐻 & were still trash talking them 🚮 0:40
It's a rivalry and this is one of numerous traditions. There's no actual hate. Tusk is played every game, every halftime, every warm up. Just like the fight song. Come to a game at the coli next year and you'll see its just tradition and good fun.
+Balth DeC, I certainly wouldn't say that. ALL the marching bands I've seen are beyond superior. I can safely say that I haven't seen one who hasn't sucked, so to say that they are the greatest marching band ever is not true. Maybe for an alumni, but, certainly not for anyone else. I'm sure that's just school pride that's talking, and I'm glad you think that this marching band is the best ever. I like them all. I guess I can't say one is superior over another.
+ProudKansan08 thats cool i respect ur answer and yeah youre correct there alot of great marching bands out there its just my opinion i may not be correct but as for me i feel they are the best and again thats just my personal opinion we all have different opinions

We have the greatest marching band in existence. Hands down no questions asked
I hope the Song Girls can get extra exposure in 2021 going forward. We miss seeing them during USC sports.
This is a big freaking marching band. This must be the Alumni Band as well.
+Derrick Wynn yes sir. That's tradition for homecoming weekends
This is on my Bucket list.

Fabulous Trojan marching band. Full of energy and spirit.
The Spirit of Troy and the Song Girls are both simply the best in the world at what they do.

Always good when mid 20th Century music chimes in .....
Love the funky older director. I am sure the band loves him also!!
Other bands are more precise, but this band makes up for it with personality and sound
Agreed but they definitely make it up with their unique sound that’s so bright and open that most bands don’t have

The world is thankful for the U S C BAND. 💛///////
Even if some other university bands are equally as good, only this one has those song girls!
Like to see USC once again have a football team it's band could be proud of.

It’s more than likely 5-10 alumni trumpet players who are not a part of the current band.
I hope one day I get accepted to USC
So at 6:40 the band just starts showing off!
"Sing, Sing, Sing" - Benny Goodman's wild, raucous, and insanely popular *dance* number, and the song girls are... absent. SMDH

Now that's one big band!
