If Samantha didn't run over OP's father, OP wouldn't have the courage to stand up for herself, and she would have been Candice's slave / floormat forever. Hence that incident was kind of a 'blessing' in disguise. But I'm just surprised that Candice was never arrested for being the mastermind behind Samantha's criminal action.
Lol I know right? I have never heard a story on here where the MIL bitches about staying at home. But she still accuses Jessica of being underhanded and a liar. Some things don change.
Seems like she would work and hire a housekeeper, but guessing they might be thinking about adding to their family. This MIL is crazy, crazy mother and crazy daughter
Because the mother and daughter weren’t texting when she made the comments. There’s no evidence that there was a conspiracy to commit murder and they’re not likely to believe a raging narcissist who just ran people over. The mom and her lawyer can just twist the convo around and say exactly what she said to OP: she didn’t tell her to get her car and run people over.
I'm shocked Jessica didn't pursue charges against her mother-in-law. Seeing as how she had basically convinced Samantha to do what she did, that makes her guilty as an accessory after the fact. Even though she wasn't behind the wheel of the car that killed Jessica's dad, she might as well have been.
Yeah, that pisses me off. If both spouses work outside the home, they have to put in extra hours to do all the household chores or outsource the work. But this is a win, right? /s Yes, I am quite aware that frequently it is a financial necessity.
Yeah. I hate that a "real job" is dependent on how much income it earns or if it earns any. It is STILL work to clean the house, as well as raise children if that's in the mix. I would never dare look down on someone who did that. I know before I got sick, I had the idea that I would have a "house husband" cause I'd go out and work as a graphic artist (this was 20 years ago, things were different). However, I would have never dared to look down on my spouse. Cleaning and cooking are hard work! As it stands now, gender roles don't matter. Whoever stays at home most should do the most housework. If both of you work, both of you do household chores too. And, let's say someone is able to stay at home all day financially. They are not to be thought of as "lesser" because they don't earn money. Keeping a household running is HARD work. I've been single my whole life and had to do everything, so I know just how hard it is with no help. Anyone that looks down on housewives or those who work from home (as that's common in these as well) needs a reality check.
When we were first married, he was working 60 hours a week, I was working 37 1/2. I did all the work, made all his meals, made sure there was lunch in the fridge for when he was off for lunch, and kept his food hot on top of the stove when he was doing evening shift. When we became farmers I became the stay-at-home wife, making sure his needs were met. I even mowed the lawns which was a really tough job back then, so he could have time with the children, instead of having to do the lawns. We worked together, and as he said much later, would never have made it without me at his side.
Candice: Her career is very important to her! Me: Oh, so it's SO IMPORTANT that your daughter FREAKING MURDERED SOMEONE FOR IT!?! And to make it worse, it's all happened because YOU TOLD HER TO DO IT!?
Candice is the type of person who believes that she should have control over everyone around her, everyone who she considers family and if she doesn't she would see to it that someone pays for it, one way or another. This woman isn't a human being and Jessica took the words out of my mouth, though not in a way that I would have phrased it exactly.
What is it with inlaws (this one was an outlaw) that they feel that their DIL must now bow down to them in everything? Thinking that they now owe their allegiance to "their family"? Jessica's father and family are still more important to her. Candice just ruined her and her daughter's life by thinking ALL Must do what she tells them. She found out in the end that Kaptain Karma will seek revenge on those very entitled people.
How is it that after Samantha said that her mother instigated the murder, the mother wasn't questioned and then charged? In real life, she would be in jail, awaiting trial. Big plothole. Big! Huge!
Candice reminds me of someone I knew who was the devil incarnate because he thought he could do what he wanted to anyone with his narcissism. Needless to say he’s no friend of mine anymore.
I like the fact that Jessica chose with her husband Derek to be a SAHW and that Derek appreciates the sacrifice his wife made for them both. Candace being upset about it is new to these stories. Treating Jessica like a slave is not. If it could be proven that Candice had manipulated Samantha into killing Jessica's dad, then she should be in prison along with Samantha. This is real world consequences for these actions.

The best way to get back at a manipulative narcissist: Destroy their reputation in their neighborhoods and workplace. Candice wasn't prepared to get in a war of wits with her daughter-in-law. Candice should've been arrested and charged as an accomplice for the murder her daughter committed. She acted like a spoiled child with her son and daughter as her toys. Derek made the right choice to remove his mother from his life. Such a woman doesn't deserve to have any familial support.
No matter what a child has done, the parents will love them unconditionally. It doesn't mean they agree with the actions of their child and in this case it would be very difficult to be very supportive...almost impossible. Still parents will continue to love their child unconditionally. In this case, the mother should also have been investigated at the time or as soon as the OP had learned of the mother's words. She would be held accountable for her actions as her daughter rightfully was.

In the very beginning when Jessica(DIL) was talking about her quiting her job since poor Derek said the house was not clean to his standards, I thought that I'd be reading about a mentally and/or physically abusive husband along with the Murder in Law. Jessica just made me cringe the way she revolved her life around her husband and never stood up for anything really.. Not even her father's murder and mother's attempted murder. Not realistically, anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if Derek turns out to be abusive and isolates her completely where she can't get help and has no job. I hope they or rather her don't have kids! Wow...that was one of the worst things I have read, and I don't just mean the murder and accessory/conspiracy to commit murder.
Yikes!
9:40 Talking about beating around the bush, I saw this You need to clean my house since you are not working, coming.
This seems like a slam dunk Wrongful Death and Defamation Civil (at least) suit, complete with Restraining Order.
Jessica needs to tell her mother-in-law that she needs to mind her own business
Mil is so envious of the say at home housewife
Yet another person who picks a fight and then has the audacity to be shocked when they get the shit beaten out of them
These past two videos I've seen have convinced me not to walk anywhere near any vehicles. There could just be a marauding homicidal MIL around.
