- ACU’s British Extreme Enduro Championship 2022 season debuted with Round 1 Tong with more than 150 competitors including world hard enduro champion Billy Bolt. Heavy rain cold weather made it really hard for everyone but the enthusiasm kept us all warm enough to hang in.
This year’s Tong surprised us with a track update to the conventional one that we knew over the years. With the new format the track got longer with really nice bits but it kept signature sectors like the tricky waterfall.
PM race started 12:30 local time and the challenge continued for two and a half hours. Billy Bolt had a good start and started stretching his lead but early in the race he lost his front brake. He then had to ride cautiously and so Jack Price caught him around the halfway but he managed to bring the victory home.

Some of those small brook crossings were so graceful. Perfect wheelies and then weighing the pegs down so bike lands perfectly, and then pop another one to get over the next jump. Awesome.

I felt that 1st fall flat on his back, ouch that would've been a wrap on the day for me.
That whole section makes me think I would have been fine being airlifted to safety..
I know ... I would need a medivac chopper to extract me from my own doings.

I rode trials for a few years - a few dozen sections with a nice rest between each. I can’t imagine an actual race around one massive section like this - they must be knackered!!!!!!!

Always admired enduro riders but never had the chance to try it.
Did I hear a four stroke in there? Thought not, truly awesome riders in awful conditions.
Question what setups do they have or bikes to keep such a low powerband? I’ve got this 2015 yz125, stock with an fmf fatty, and holy crap if you don’t rev the life out of it it won’t move, powerband is high rpm… tips or.. switch a bike?
Riding a 125 you constantly have to slip the clutch to keep the revs up and keep it in the power band. That's why I always preferred 250 or larger. You won't be happy to you move up to a250.
Just my opinion.
