- A committee consituted by the Tamil Nadu government to suggest measures to prevent caste-based discrimination and violence in education institutions submitted its report on Tuesday. Among the measures, the report recommends ban on coloured ornaments that are caste markers.
The one-member committee, headed by retired Madras High Court judge Justice K Chandru, submitted its report to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. The committee was constituted in August 2023 after a brother-sister duo belonging to the Scheduled Caste community in Tirunelveli's Nanguneri were assaulted by their schoolmates over caste differences.

I am teacher working in a school, we face many caste based problems even with 8th grade students, students at very ages are very aggressive with their dominant behaviour in their respective castes, mostly in yhe southern and northern parts of tamilnadu facing many issues, you don't even know what's happening in rural schools, better visit to those schools and come to the conclude, simply sitting somewhere in North India and critising the govt doesn't make you are correct, I am not supporting the DMK govt, but this activity must be welcomed, bjp party members are opposing this just only because they can not do anything with those rules, the rules not applicable to temple ropes, still students can wear those red or black ropes given in temples,
