To this UCSF doctor, please, also search on drinkers of Yerba mate, a plant grown in Paraguay, Uruguay, Southern Brazil and Northeast Argentina. I read that the mate is burnt with flames to give it that Smokey taste. I also read that Uruguay has a high incidence of bladder cancer in men, they drink it all day. Question: is decaf coffee bad for the bladder?

I was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma urotheliales, it was removed by my Dr . The results showed the following :
      Gender : female
      Age : 31
Factors: no smoking, no exposure to chemicals ( neither the patient nor her family members)
Before the surgery: no blood seen
Tumor seize: 12 mm ( CT scan)
Papillary carcinoma urotheliales stade p Ta low grade .
No BCG no chemotherapy ( the Dr decision of course)

You stated in the lecture that urologist do surgery first (TURBIT) when they should do first chemotherapy. Does this apply to non-muscle invading bladder cancer and the chemotherapy adminnstrated as instilliation (intravesical) not systemic?

Never smoked a cigarette in my entire life + healthy lifestyle... but succumbed to Bladder Cancer. Of the people I know who have it - none are smokers. I think it's a mistake to give people the impression that they will be unlikely to have lung or bladder cancer if they don't smoke. I strongly believe that there are other environmental factors - weed killer etc. which need to be looked at.

He was informative. I am going tomorrow Wednesday 4-20-2022 for the scope and biopsy. I had a massive bleed in right ureter massive clots. Whole bit. 24 hours. CT Scan shows a mass. I smoked from October 2008 to November 2018. My parents at age 10 put turpentine on genital area for 2 days. Since I have felt sick and been bad health all the 31 years since. Pretty scared for sure. I truly pray more is learned about how to heal this cancer in upcoming studies. I pray also more people stop smoking AND vaping. Wish I had never started. But how would someone allow their tissue to be studied? I did see the scan and you can see an area of concern. So perhaps they can learn stuff? I want to help somehow. Also can anything ELSE grow in bladders... or is it always a tumor?

  • @58debjean

My father had bladder cancer which was still contained within the bladder. It had not metastisized at all. He had his bladder removed and the doctors "got it all" and he healed well. Within 6 months after surgery, it had metastasized to the abdomen and then he had chemo. He was dead barely 12 months after that! Being a fit person who had no other diseases, he was dead 18 months after diagnosis and that was in 2003.

He says he is not worried because the cells is growing slowly. I just need to go for another urine test in 6 months time to check again. I am really very confused.

  • @luvaquad

Great video.. He explains what should be told to all exposed to smoking ..parents due to 2nd hand smoke and establishments via the health dept .. if a carcinogen is flushing via the bladder ..stored even longer to us paralyzed people having a neurological bladder ..Than this should be discussed to SPINAL CORD INJURY PATIENTS AND RESEARCHERS . Too many smoke cigarettes , pot and so fourth even after paralyzed. It was also mentioned that urine touching the skin causes a rash much like a baby. I wish he spoke further. Urine breaks down the skin causing pressure sores and all paralyzed sci people are susceptible to it and that causing AD .. that can kill. Undergarments come with no warning yet urine touching the skin of a toxic lined bladder person would need to know this is not good and our bladder should be tested much more than only if a issue. Uti ' s should warrant testing even by urine testing for this cancer at the same time. I can attest as a quad they don't test urine even to medicate a uti because getting urine from us is not simple. To take urine from a bag for sampling has a process not followed . A catheter bag via a catheter stores like a bladder thus where your sample is taken from may expose wrong results. Because states are approving medical and recreational pot I feel this should be evaluated in its affect on the storing organs of waste as well. States may be opening themselves up to non disclosed cancer causing money makers they approve and the fda.
I just don't get why cigarettes are legal when organs are susceptible and even those whom just breathed in 2nd hand carcinogenic crap. We made laws against pills and take them off the market when risk is clear yet allow medical cost to rise as cancers do. Botox I wish he covered. I had a Dr improperly say botox affect to my bladder .. The tv commercial on it said the things not told that were risk defined and important info for any patient to make informed choices on . A paralyzed person who can not empty their bladder has a risk of not emptying as well if botox is injected in the bladder lining and this puts us in AD AND ICU if urine won't exit. If botox is a toxin why is it injected and no discussion of it causing cancer to even the dummies doing wrinkles. Toxin by smoke or inhaled fumes ,, what's the difference? Certainly botox is said to last 6 weeks but no paralyzed person can go 6 weeks not releasing urine and catheters affect our bladder as a stimulus and as uti ' s occur so often. Antibiotics are affected by medications ,, what is the affect to the bladder lined with toxic carcinogenic exposures or even our own natural waste stored in the lining of our paralyzed neurological bladders that can't release all urine ? Foods and drinks cause the lining of the bladder to build up toxins like acidic drinks and the paralyzed bladder is affected even more yet many patients with a sci are not educated and I know some awful diets and boozers that are paralyzed. Govt pays when hospitalized for so many disabled so I think it's high time education before cancer takes place vs such a dog gone effort is made to fund raise on all tv stations and to all affected. We tend to ask for money to treat what can be prevented and reward injured by their fund raising efforts because they vaca but change nothing that causes them medical issues including cancers , uti ' s ,AD AND DEATH.
Perhaps law should be passed that if you smoke or hold , held a job with carcinogen exposed to any part of your body including skin that a autopsy is mandatory so more will be known and accurate numbers reflect the body's organs affected completely. Lung cancer people that die , are all their organs checked upon death ? We seem to inflate the main cause yet the bladder and intestines , kidneys, etc that hold waste also are affected and perhaps more so due to length they can hold toxins by stones or muscle lining.
Smokers you are affecting much more than yourselves and in my view with a mom that is dead and smoked 3 packs a day around me , I think you guys dictate others fate just as murders do. Imagine if like this dr states , if no one smoked the next 50 years. Attack cancer by a choice vs a reaction.

I have NONE of these risk factors! I am female and was 63 when diagnosed with the more common transitional uretheral carsinoma. No one knows how I got it! The only thing that I can think of is when I fell (nice) on a slippery floor and I had bad pain straight up through me. Later I doubled over while doing yard work for a minute, then all was well until a year later and I found a blood clot in the bathroom. Went to a urologist and there was blood in urine by then. Felt fine, though. Had cystoscopy and the rest is history. It has been staying at grade one and stage one. The doctor said that it was not caused by my fall. It was only once. My upper cervical chirpractor didn't believe it was the cause either. Well....I guess it's just a deep dark mystery then......

Had a growth removed and "cleaning" of a narrow ureter. Had the catheter in for like 6 days. Is it common to have blood in the urine after a surgery like this? Shouldn't any coterizing eliminate any bleeding? How long before the blood in my urine goes away? It's not dark red but more like a rose pink.

I agree. So many diseases are blamed on smoking. And I’ve known so many ppl that have had cancers that have never smoked a day in their life. However, this doctor makes sense especially when it pertains to genetics, etc
