- Needed a car for some planned road trips this summer and to get back and forth to Palm Springs. Picked up this 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis this past weekend. Quickly added some Mustang wheels and replaced the broken grill.

The fact that the panther platform has developed such a cult following and are still highly sought after and sell quickly just shows how well they have stood the test of time.
I’ve had 4 mercs. Just sold my 99 w/57k miles in June and missed it so much I just found a 04’ with 60k on it. Love these things
This is my third Grand Marquis. They're just great cars.
It’s a classic baby years don’t matter on them panthers. Nice ride I’ve had 7 Grand marquises in my 36 yrs of life and will only drive a panther for as long as I’m blessed to be around
I like the Mustang wheels on yours. I have a 2005 Grand Marquis LS. Same color as yours. Mine is a 5 passenger with a center console shifter. Mine has almost every option available including a power moonroof. It had rear air suspension. But as soon as one of those air struts started leaking, I had regular rear springs and struts installed. This was my Dad's last car and I inherited it when he passed away in 2015. Between me and him, we have owned six Ford Panthers. This is my favorite. He had a 1991 Grand Marquis LS with the same roof on yours. I also had a 1989 Colony Park station wagon. My second favorite Panther was a 1985 Grand Marquis LS all blue i bought from a very nice elderly lady with less than 10,000 miles on it. All blue.
Love it! I have an '04 LS Ultimate with 260,000 km (about 150,000 miles) and running like a top here in the Toronto area. Had to replace the intake manifold, take out rear air suspension and have gone through a couple of alternators. Other than that, a workhorse! Can't (and don't want to) get rid of it!
Congrats on your purchase! I've had many Panther platforms. Couple of Grand Ma's and a few Town Cars. Been away from them for a few years now, but just picked up a Crown Vic LX Sport in SUPERB condition - my first with a console shifter. In the past, I bought them used and sold them as I approached 300k miles. The last Town Car I bought in 2016 and used it for two years then sold it for $3k more than I paid. LOVE Florida cars. No rust.
The LX sport is super rare. The only other console shifter model is the mercury marauder.
Sweet daily. Panthers rock. I painted my vic lime green.
All true cheap and reliable I've had my vic for 16 years
I've put almost 17K on it since I bought it in February. These are great cars.
Congrats ! I just purchased a 2006 mercury Grand Marquis myself I used to own a 01 Grand Marquis back in 01 which loved as well . 😊
I've got myself a 2009 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, and not going to lie, I LOVE the look of those rims on the Grand Marquis, need to pick me up a set of those some day!
I’ve got an 03 Buick lesabre for daily duty, a 90 325i for fun semi daily nice weather duty. When the Buick goes panthers are on the list for sure
When I went to buy a used car, there was a buick park avenue, buick lesabre, and lincoln town car. I originally planned to buy one of the Buick's and it was real close but I ended up buying the town car. There is just something solid about panther models that sold me.
Don't you just love the big V8 powered rear wheel drive cars for daily drivers!! I had a 76 Lesabre for 5 years and for the last 2 years I've had an 87 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham The only thing about it is here in Ohio the salt on the roads eats them up, Before the Lesabre I had a pair of four door Fairmonts that other than one being light gold instead of light yellow they were twins one of the Fairmonts was rusty when I got it so it didn't matter using it in the salt, but in two years there was no bottom left and the car was collapsing in the middle so I broke down and used my nice one because of all of my cars it was the least valuable and in 5 years the roof was eaten away on that one! So I used the 76 Lesabre and in 5 years it was rusted out terribly! The right front fender is literally falling apart! Even the hood is rusted out! But they're cheap cars and I have to drive something in the winter!
My dad custom made a new 91 from Ford through the dealership.. he kept cars for about 10 years and then get another..I lost my dad in 03
Nice Grand Marquis.
I like the wheels and the top is classy.
You have driven a ton of panther bodies, have you thought to make a video on what to look for when buying a town car/marquis/crown Vic like the plastic intake manifold cracking, coil packs etc
I like it a lot love the mustang rims they actually fit the car real well, I love big American sedan I have a 06 Buick Lucerne
My other choice would have been a Buick with a 3800.
@@MikeFrankovich nice the 3800 is a good engine and it's fast haha
That will last you at least 600K miles.....I've seen those go to 1 million KMs
Yes, they’re very reliable
Those 18 inch wheels really look good.
Thanks. Had a set like that on my old burgundy Town Car. They look much better on a silver car though.
Beautiful car
What Year,Make and Model is the Mustang Wheels...I want to make sure I get the right wheel for inset of the wheel....Nice Car..👍
Love it and love the wheels ! I subbed!
Nice ride
Take off the fender skirts rust gets under.
With the new rims and tire size different from original car did u change speedometer register?
beautiful
What size tires on this car,and rims?
The wheels are almost like a Mercury Marauder look.
I got a set for my MGM for 140 with brand new tires but the fanblades
Hi Mike, nice ride I once owned a 2003 Merc GM very similar to yours. I have the badges that your cloth top is missing if you'd like to buy them.
Tacky. Just eat the $2. and mail him the things.
@@nastybastardatlive I'm a capitalist, not in the habit of giving things away..
First thing i did was upgrade the wheels to 5 spoke mustang wheels then i got rid of the rear airbag suspension.
Do you know if one can use the same tires on mustang wheels?
Mine has the stock steel rusty wheels but has brand new tires, stock size.
I just dont want to buy new tires
@@dvader3000 my stock merc wheels and tires are 225/60/r16 and my mustangs are 235/55/r17 - tires came on my mustang wheels.. I think the 1st number and last number have to be the same - so you would have to find a 16in wheel and the tire width and wheels width has to be the same. I dont know a lot about wheels and tire sizes though so probably best to ask jiffy lube or somewhere like that.
Hey cool ride and will that radio fit in a 05 Mercury grand Marquis GS ???
Thanks. The stereo should fit as far as I know. Still using the cassette adapter
What size tire?
Great ride...... Check out my 1999 Crown Victoria LX
take that silly top off, its a Ford key fob thing, sit down and you hear your car alarm go off, that backseat light is a Ford Panther body thing always look, oil changes are a night mare, but can be done ,that engine is set way back, and the filters in a nasty spot worse then Acuras five cylinder but I love my 05 LS
Cloth top is terrible in the desert.
I'm not a fan of them, but the car was cheap enough that I can live with it.
Im sorry but i don't like that black top.

Not an classic!!! I'm insulted.
I took that roof off my grand marquis. It was about 50lbs. The paint underneath was brand new, but had glue stains all over, and I had to fix about 20 screw holes. Also the trim panel under the rear window isn't there, so I left that one chrome strip.
I’m just going to leave it.
