One way to actually simulate the lighting for each plane/object within the sculpt is to keep the groups separate and assign a local matcap per selected shape, roll the matcap to where the light works, and work your way down - assigning the same matcap to each object and rolling it to where it matches the drawing and simulates a light source. That way the light is more controllable but you'll just have to rely on the curves in post to get the back outline.
Great comment. Pinned!!!! It works best with a black background you you don’t rely on that selected black out line. I would be cool to get a post process button that outlines without linking to selections.
