    Unpopular opinion, but I really liked Genie+. Don’t get me wrong, the old school paper Fastpass was the best, but Fastpass+ was broken as someone who is from out of town and doesn’t stay on property as nothing was left to book. Genie+ let me pay a bit extra and allowed me to absolutely crush the day for me and my partner at both WDW and Disneyland in the last 2 years. The availability issue from Fastpass+ seems to be back between the Disney hotel guests being able to book early and having 3 rides available at a time. I wish they’d just copy Universal’s system with the very expensive skip the line option.

    Would just rather express like Universal and I don’t have to spend all day starting at my phone.

    This pass, with resort guests booking 10 days ahead...it's morphing into an extended resort benefit. Everyone else else is just out of luck. Definitely NOT better.

    • @WalrusCarp
      @WalrusCarp  3 месяца назад +5

      I mean I'm not against that. If you're staying at Disney you should get a perk. It's expensive and being rewarded for that is a good thing. I feel the same way about Deluxe after hours.

    • @roxann.
      @roxann. 3 месяца назад +1

      Technically it says if they stay 14 days they can book 7 days ahead of that. So 21 days out.

    • @Elamdri
      @Elamdri 2 месяца назад

      That's how it used to work for fast pass+, you had 60 days prior to your stay to book rides

    • @traciecombs7030
      @traciecombs7030 2 месяца назад

      @Elamdri right...but those were free. The folks in charge of the money decisions are hoping this will be another incentive for people to stay in resort hotels. However, it's quite possible they will see a loss in revenue from these passes- guests visiting the parks for 4 days or less are more likely to feel some urgency to 'ride everything and pay extra to skip lines. A resort guest, visiting the parks multiple times each doesn't have that incentive. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

    • @Elamdri
      @Elamdri 2 месяца назад

      @@traciecombs7030 I don't see how it being free really matters if we're arguing about whether or not it's a resort benefit. Under the old fastpass Plus system, people who stayed at the resorts got to book early. Under the new lightning Lane multipass system, people who stay at resorts get to book early. The only difference is that one was free and the other isn't.
      Genie plus was the only system that they had that didn't prioritize resort guests over regular guests.

    the multi pass is really for people on vacation let's face it if we live near WDW why do you even need a fast pass? the que are not that bad at all. At most im waiting like 45 mins roughly I'm waiting 20 to 30 mins on most rides at least right now. Also if you are a single rider there are some rides that will allow you to ride single rider the other day I kept going on rise of the resistance probably 4 times in a row in the matter of like 45 mins. Also checking on the times alot during the day help and going on bigger rides when people are watching the fireworks I mean I don't really have that much issues with the whole wait times I'm not paying 17 to 27 extra dollars just to be a bit more quicker Also I'm seeing even now you can't even book rides after like noon on that because it's already sold out. they need to get ride of that stuff and the virtual que is not even necessary just open it up

    Idk, seems like you’re on your phone as much or the damw as the previous system with Genie+. To me, this whole change is like Tiana’s reskinned from Splash mountain. Nothings changed outside of being able to prebook your lightning lane 3 days or 7 days in advance. The whole modification is no diff than the way we used to do on Genie plus. Seems like the old way is less tedious and less steps to change times. Having 3 may be good but its not as effective or better than someone who knows how to stack lightning lane from Genie+. You still pay like the old system but atleast theres no multi-park option for park hopping which is really the only “hack” game changer from the old way. I don’t get why these YT bloggers are paying $25-30 to start Multi-pass when you can just start at AK for less money than park hop to the other parks after getting doing one ride at AK. if the excuse is nothing’s available from other park after 10a..its no diff than starting off from other parks but you wasted more money on it.. where’s the value on that?

    • @WalrusCarp
      @WalrusCarp  2 месяца назад

  • @TheNitBB

    So basically you got on attractions just after rope drop which probably have short lines as it is then couldn’t do anything else all the rest of the day.
    Great value!

  • @richc2109
    @richc2109 3 месяца назад +3

    Disney's greed has caused a very poor experience for the average parkgoer who does not want to stare at their phone all day and plan attractions a week ahead of time. They are slowly killing the goose that laid the golden egg.

    I have not had the need to buy Genie in a while but I do like this system better as I normally go in the evening after work. I was able to simulate picking times for after work. In the past you could not pick the time so I see this as a plus.

    • @WalrusCarp
      @WalrusCarp  2 месяца назад

      Yea we are going to stop buying Lightning Lanes

  • @Beexo_RL-by7lj
    @Beexo_RL-by7lj 3 месяца назад +6

    It's the same availability as before, but now more guests are able to obtain more reservations on average before the park opens without being an expert on Genie+, thus it feels like there is less availability as the day goes on overall. From a CM perspective, LL is already maxed out on the number of reservations. Adding more availability/reservations would bring the standby line to a crawl.

    • @WalrusCarp
      @WalrusCarp  3 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for the well thought out response. I totally agree with your logic yet FastPass+ was similar but didn't have the same stumbling block as this week. It'll be interesting to see if anything gets altered in the next few months. Thanks for making magic!

    • @chrisbaker1091
      @chrisbaker1091 3 месяца назад +4

      There’s also the fact that they REMOVED all the character experiences. This took away 5 HIGHLY sought after lightning lanes in MK alone. So, you are spreading essentially the same number of guest over fewer LL attractions. I DO NOT understand their logic for this AT ALL.

      @@chrisbaker1091 they do that so you are forced to buy lightning lane passes to make more money. they want the stand by regular lines to be so slow that you almost have to buy a LL passes to enjoy your day at all. it's all a big scam to make more money. They can also play god in the computer system and force people to ride crap rides to force availability only on those rides. it's a joke

  • @chrisbaker1091
    @chrisbaker1091 3 месяца назад +6

    I agree that this is MUCH clunkier than Genie. I do think I’d they would add back the characters, it would go a long way. Overall, I think it’s a downgrade and not as much value for your dollar.

    Great video, that was really informative. We've decided we're not going to use this system. We've booked for next year, which will probably be the last time because Disney don't seem to care anymore. We know already we won't use this. It's already expensive enough as it is. This seems like such a rip-off

    sounds like you pay for these but most of the rides you won't even be able to pick to ride due to so many people picking that particular ride. so then you will be stuck with crap rides to pick from that you don't even want to ride because thats all that's available. seems like disney can play god and force you to ride rides you don't want to ride that isn't popular and still charge you. ripoff
