I’m glad you added protection design. I thought it looked like a good choice for that. I want to see films on a slightly smaller scale be considered more for certain technical awards.
Looking forward to seeing it - Swnton and Moore , I’m in !

I'm not sure about about this, but I think I read Almodóvar thought it would be unfair to place one of the actresses in lead an another one in supporting, so that's definitely going to hurt Swinton and Moore's chances...

I'm surprised you forgot that, although it's in English, it's a Spanish film. Don't you think an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film might be an option?

  • @user-yv3fm5hm9s

Pedro's movies have always been political, the only thing that changes is that he's spanish and his movies are big on spanish lore, so the way politics are portrayed, of course, is gonna be very different depending on what movie of his you're watching. Btw, I have not read the book either, but a very easy google search tells me everything you've said it's a very accurate representation of it actually.
Also, what's a more accurate representation of middle aged women on women friendship if not dumping and talking all the time about everything?

Saw it in Venice. Quietly liked the images (even not the biggest fan of the director) but, in my 20-years-old-man opinion the film tried to check the most “socially famous” themes of this decade. Starting from a “climate change pessimism” thrown and “solved” by Ingrid as it was nothing, to the pandemic (as a single line of a secondary actor), liberalism and far right, LGBT (in an extra actor in a useless scene in the first 5 minutes) or a missing male-family figure. In addition the film really lacked of character-depth: Ingrid is the writer of a “life-death relationship” book -it says that for her it’s impossible to accept the idea that something alive is going to die - but not even once the content of that book came out during the film (no spoilers but it should have had). Still nice film: if I had to say, I would think it’s a Netflix random film such as “Don’t look up” or “Leave the world behind”… mediocre

I saw the movie and Almodóvar sensibility is definitely lost in translation. Almodóvar failed to bring the feelings of the English language. The dialog feels to theatric and overdramatized. Everything else is nice and very Almodóvar. The perfect sleeping pill

    • @LukeHearfield
      @LukeHearfield  2 месяца назад +1

@@Roasting_Chicken oh really? I didn’t get that at all. I totally got his voice/style in the dialogue but that’s totally fair if you didn’t. I’ve always found his writing quite theatric and melodramatic- that’s how I know it’s his work hehehe

    The room nexy door...
Color of film for summer seasion...
Sunny in winter.. as a dicoration and fashion of film.
The director must make the color of film more dark and black.
Becase the story dark drama.. talk about ill and death.
That the first wrong in film i notice from your review before i watch it.
I dont watch the film but i like story of film ill women think she must make her freand kill her or help her to live.♥
    But i afraid jullian more
    Make same last year film
    May december
When she has amazing story and supject but in bad screenplay.
This film if they make good screenplay will take nomnation..
The sound and the dailoge will makr diffrence.
    The film time release late
    In december
Must release it early to award seasion.
I think tilda swanton will take
    Oscar nomnation for best actross
    Untill now
    Tillda swanton in next door
    And
    Cate winslet in lee
    And
    Anglena jole

Is this anything else than depressing as hell?

    • @baltasarmelchor935

It's Pedro Almodovar, if you think the movie is going to be a depression, it's what I was looking for and then surprising. P. Almodovar's movies are like that, never judge a book by its cover.

    • @nestor1460
      @nestor1460 19 дней назад

Its not depressing at all, really. You see, the film tells you from the beginning that Swinton's character is seriously ill, so you count on that. What the film is about is friendship and comraderie in tough times and how that aleviates the pain. And there is some relief in that. I guess you could label it as a luminous film about death.
