Failed at landscapes!? What?! Most phones can nail a well-lit landscape, even cheaper ones. I have a hard time with that "fail". Come on! I've watched every review out there on these phones and you're the first to make this claim. If these cameras fail anywhere, it's video.
He failed a landscape shot based off using the zoom feature, lol.

@@Centrinario 4/5 of his "elements" involved picture quality. Yes, the Pixel doesn't do 4K 60fps. However, it does have great stabilization at 4k 30fps. Over the past three years, the Pixel line has been a better picture taker than the iPhone. It doesn't take a WSJ video to know that. Look at all the tech reviewers and you'll understand that pretty quickly.
Pixel does have a better camera, and with the AI, it's only going to get better over time

Bro pixel 3 photos are as accurate as it gets. iPhone Xs smart hdr over exposes the shadows at the cost detail and realism. iPhone camera is now going the Samsung way. Do some research about photography and then compare the phones.

1:33 - I actually think the Galaxy Note 9 looks a little better because it smooths out your forehead and looks like there is a filter in place. It's softer. Perfect for selfies.

I don't know this reviewer but he did a pretty decent job and gave a fair assessment, no need to make a personal insult against him.
I dont like the dslr photo used for comparision. White balance off and out of focus/lack of detail. Thanks for the review though.

If phone cameras now are more about software than hardware, then wouldn't the increased computational requirements reduce battery life? I don't know if anyone has discussed this potential drawback. I would really like to know how many shots a Pixel 3 can do on a single charge compared to other competitive smartphones out there.
@@przemek8068 something like that. Most non-phone digital cameras have manufacturer rated specifications that indicate how many shots it can take before it runs out of battery . It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility then to subject a phone to the same standard. Maybe Google's computations don't make much difference in battery life over 50 photos taken, but what about over several hundred photos? Surely it would add up and most of these computations can't be disabled unless perhaps you use a 3rd party camera app.
I think that if you want to know, how many photos Pixel 3 xl can take on a single charge, compared to for example Samsung S9+, you need to watch battery life tests. 1% would not make much difference
There's probably a optimized chip for the image calculations not draining the battery

Please don't buy those DSLR 'photography' cameras unless you can spend $3000+ for one good camera. Cellphones these days have better software, mobility, and options to edit and cloud store your pictures.
The DSLR camera isn't that important. It's the lenses that matter. $650 camera with a $2,000 lens is the way to go if money ain't a thing and you like carrying around heavy expensive equipment and for some reason you have to have the very best in image quality.
Google pixel 3 then: $800
Google pixel 3 now: like $70
It's a great deal in 2022 I'm getting one next week

pixel 3 doesn't have 4k 60fps video whereas most of its competitors do. that's the biggest disappointment for me.
True but most of those phones are still unable to add ois for 4k60. For still recordings it is sweet but if you're on the move, it's going to be really shaky.

Hey guys I just want to warn others to please do not buy the Pixel devices. As one of the many people who bought the original Pixel that had hardware failure after a little over a year over owning the phone (how convenient that it happens often after the one year warranty expires). Google is refusing to offer any kind of help to repair the phones that get stuck in an infinite bootloop and send you to uBreakiFix which costs about $400 to repair the phone. Just do a search for "google pixel bootloop" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
My family and I have all used pixel phones (5 phones) and never had any issues for the last 2 years. Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone will.
Also, pixel doesn't have a 1 year warranty, it has a 6 month.
Lol I didn't say everyone will. And if you look up the bootloop issues like I said, then you'll know there's thousands of people with the same issue.

How does pixel fail for landscape? The is literally not camera phone in the world who can shoot better landscape photos. The night site landscapes are better than any point and shoot digital camera you can buy and better than most DSLR cameras.

bro no offense but you take HORRIBLE pictures
Stay away from Google Pixel phones!! They work fine for a while but then (in my case, 10 months after buying) Google updated the camera app. Guess what happened? What has been happening to thousands of users since Google started making phones, an update will ruin the camera completely, it will crash every time you try to use it (fatal camera error). You're left with an expensive phone without a camera. This happened with my Google Pixel 2 XL but there's reports of the issue with all of their models, including this Google Pixel 3 XL. Google does NOT have a solution to this. If you want to confirm this, you only need to go to the Play store and search for the "Google camera app" go to the 1star reviews and you'll find the thousands of affected users talking about their experience (note that many 5 stars reviews are obviously bot accounts) Again, Google does not give you a solution. Google SUCKS. The same that happened with Google + when they tried to be Facebook is going to happened with Google Pixel: EPIC FAIL 👎🏽
