      Yep. I'm about to pick it up myself from Google Store. I played with the phone in the store for a few hours, and I gotta say, I don't see what the big deal is about the notch. Why people make it such a huge issue? I didn't see a problem with it. And got awesome good speakers, specially since my little one like to wtch cartoons, its awesome compared to my current Pixel XL. Cant wait to get this phone in my hands.

    I am a Pixel 3 xl owner for a little over a month, and I LOVE IT!! The fluidity of the software is un-matched and it is as smooth as "butter!!" I have had an update on a monthly basis; improving the phone in significant ways! The camera is un-matched as well, and the "Night Site" operation is the best! Premium quality feel to the phone and the speakers are tremendous! Call quality is superior and the call screen function works perfectly. While working in the phone, I rarely even see the "notch," and the speakers and the "groupie" camera are so good that the notch is an after-thought for me! I am chalking the following up to competitive zeal, every time it is mentioned; only 4GB of RAM and no expandable storage!! Under these circumstance, what amazes me is the lack of mention that Pixel 3 owners get unlimited storage for pics and documents with Google Pics! Also, I have ALL the apps I need, and many I don't need, and I have many of them open at the same time. I have NEVER experienced the closing of an app due to limited RAM!! No slow-downs and no hic-ups! It would appear that RAM management is a "software issue" and not of hardware. Could it be that other phone makers are attempting to justify high costs by manufacturing phones with 6GB to 10GB?! Maybe Google is showing us that ALL that we receive with these other phones is unnecessary!

      I myself can't believe people were buying shitty mid-range iPhone X clones just because they have a headphone jack. I worked in a Vivo dealership and the first thing I kept overheard from customers is "hey this thing has a headphone jack!"
      They do care, but these companies are slowly conditioning consumers into thinking that removing the jack is justified

      You're right and they *want* phones with it. Understanable since in the Southeast Asian market, people can barely afford a mid-range phone, let alone a bluetooth headset.
      But here's the funny thing: market removes jack, rather few dissident voices, this is seen as the market obliged on removing the jack. Now there's more phones out without jacks, market thinks no one needed it, but the voices started to become louder, and right now we're on a thin line whether to go full out on no jack or with jack.
      Don't forget China, where Xiaomi, the biggest iShill out there removed the jack since the Mi 6 with angry fans revolting about it. While Oppo and Vivo kept it with sighs of relief

    • @teddysadcat
      @teddysadcat 5 лет назад +3

    I probably will go with the 3 over the XL. I simply do not like a notch on any phone. To be absolutely honest I do not understand that trend that so much emphasis is out on screens that go etch to etch. Honestly that is my least important criteria. Sure don't waste a lot of space but leave enough for some good front facing speakers and the cameras. Done. This hole hype is way overboard.

Software is so smooth and secure. 3xl screen is solid and just as I want it to be, unlike Samsung phones being unrealistically vivid. Even if there are bugs and things that need fixing, I always see that Google ends up fixing them and follows up. Great customer service is also a plus. I'm getting a Pixel 3 XL, regardless. I want it to hold me out until the Pixel 4 XL or the Note 10. All flagship devices are "over priced" in some form of fashion, and they all have bugs...some which never are fixed. Most consumers just want a phone that works, and us more tech savvy or intrigued want a "Frankenstein" type device. At this point in the tech world...there are numerous options, but all have some kind of shortcoming. Everybody says that if you disable the notch, you may as well get the Pixel 3. I couldn't disagree more. When you disable the notch which is approximately .3 inches you're still left with about 6 inch screen. That's still noticeably bigger than the 5.5 Pixel. It seems silly to to me to say that when you're also still getting a better battery. I'm sure Pixel 3 XL owners out there can confirm this. I'm actually considering getting either a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL. These phone companies have lost their minds with these flat screen tv's posing as phones these days!

  • @notstarboard
    @notstarboard 5 лет назад +1

    Wait wait wait. Pixel 3... No bloatware? I suppose everyone defines it differently, but I own a 3a and had to uninstall a few dozen unwanted apps when I bought this phone. Just because they're made by Google doesn't mean they're not bloatware.
    And not to mention all of the features that are turned on out of the box that hog battery, are creepy, or both. If you don't care about privacy or lean software then you'll probably be satisfied, but I've had a hell of a time trying to turn it all off.
    Then there are tons of other miscellaneous annoyances. Why does Wi-Fi scanning turn on every time you enable location services from a prompt? Why does the phone app require Google Play Services to have access to SMS, Calendar, Body Sensors, etc.? It'll work fine if you revoke those permissions, but it will still spam "Oh no, I'm broken" notifications that you can't disable. Why does every settings menu show like four options and hide the rest in one or more expandable menus? That adds so many extra taps when going through the settings and makes some normal settings hard to find. Why can't I even *disable* Gboard, Pixel Launcher, etc. when I have alternatives installed? Why can't I disable Android System Webview when I have no interest in in-app web browsing and always want web links to open in Firefox? Why is flicking right from the pill at the bottom of the screen so inconsistent? It should always take you to the last app you had open, but like every third time it opens another app entirely. And, for that matter, why is the motion to flick right when the prevous app is to the left in the recent apps view? That's inconsistent design. Gesture navigation on Pie is horrible, but I fundamentally don't like that shift. A swipe is a more difficult and more tiring action than a tap (especially over long periods of use), swipes register worse than a tap if you have sweaty hands or if there's water on the display, and most screens are at least 2:1 now so there's more space than ever for on-screen buttons. Hell, in Pie, you have on screen buttons but you still need to gesture! What's the point if you're not even saving screen space?
    I could go on and on with these. Despite how much the tech press talks it up, Android Pie on the Pixel is bloated garbage compared to how Android used to be on the Nexus line. Using stock Android in 2019 should not make me want to jump ship for LineageOS and get me nostalgic for KitKat...

    @anonymousperson7889 5 лет назад

    The Notch is irrelevant with the App "Natcho Notch". The memory issue is real and annoying. My biggest issue is with the CAMERA, yes the camera. It takes great pictures, that is NOT the problem. The problem is how slow the camera is. It takes pictures extremely slow compared to all other competitors. If you use a mode where it takes a photo faster, the quality is diminished dramatically. Also the fact it has zero manual controls and third party apps do not perform at a high level on the phone. With all that said, I still have and love my Pixel 3 XL. This issue needs to be fixed and they need to be talked about. Yet to see a single video addressing them.

    If you have Verizon you will permanently lose access to Verizon voicemail app in the Pixel 3, this app enables you to manage listen and delete vmail right from the phone app without calling in *86. Verizon store told me there is no way to add or download this into the phone because of the Google pixel software, but any other phone they sell at the Verizon store comes with it. Had I known this beforehand I would not have got the Google pixel 3A.

    Ok, question. Last year I went from the Galaxy note 5, to the iPhone x. This was my first jump from Android to ios in a while. And it was nice while it lasted. Would you guys consider it a good hardware upgrade going from the x to the pixel 3? (Not XL )

      not sure, 4 GB of RAM will probably not be enough in the near future and iPhone's a11 seems like a better option than pixel's snapdragon 845. I'm actually thinking right now if I should get an X or Pixel, pixel's camera is really impressive but I'm quite disappointed by the fact that 60 fps video recording is not supported even in Full HD

    i might be the odd one out but I don't like that the Pixel camera makes pictures taken at night look like it was taken in the daytime. That ruins the whole point of taking a picture at night. Certain elements of a moment are lost when a person can't tell if a photo is taken at night.

    I have the Pixel 2 right now and love it. Out of all the phones of I've had it's had the longest battery, the best amout of space since I get free google storage leaving me with more room for apps, a better sound, screen, and camera. After I pay this off and get my use out of it I am definitely sticking with Google Pixels. I really want to go to the Pixel 3 XL but if the 4th one has come out when I'm ready to upgrade, that's what I'll go for. I don't mind the notch and I honestly feel like people make way too much of a deal about the minor inconvience. Removing the audio jack is more of an issue in my opinion.

    Come on guys! I think you are all exaggerating a bit with the vibration from the back of the phone. I mean, you feel it, right. But it's like complaining because you feel vibrations every time you ride your car. You just get lost in what you are looking on the screen. It's nothing distracting. About the notch, that doesn't bother me at all. You get used to it, believe me. I am now 2 weeks with my Pixel 3XL and my only complain is the mic. sound quality. It is unacceptable.

      Definitely. I bought the iPhone Xs Max as soon as it was available and sure, it is a great phone. I love how smooth, fast and "sweet" the iOS interfaces is. Nothing like face ID and the fluidity of those gesture. But even though that, iPhone is not there yet with the OS. The level of personalisation you get on native Android is above iPhone. Don't get me wrong, iPhone xs max is an amazing phone, but it is not for me. I accepted the penalties (not that good gestures, a little bit slower, etc) for a better software. Oh and, that Pixel camera is in a whole new level...

    I am very disappointed with the google pixel 3 phone AND google services. Google dropped the ball multiple times in their customer service and did not compensate for their mistakes in any way besides “I sincerely apologize.”
    I decided to not get a warranty from Best Buy where I bought the phone because google offered a 1 yr manufacturing warranty. This was a big mistake.
    I bought the google pixel 3 because of the camera. The camera broke, which apparently is a problem for this phone (according to what I found online). First step to try and fix the phone is reformatting.
    I needed a google assistant to walk me through the steps to back up my material and reformat the phone. I asked the assistant 3 times if my photo and recordings were backed up (I confirmed this by looking at the transcripts of our conversation). She checked and confirmed that all was backed up. However, all of my recordings were lost. This set me back quite a bit with my work. Google ‘sincerely apologized’ (there wasn’t much else they could do with this one. And this same response was given when I felt there were other alternatives to fix their mistakes).
    The camera wasn’t fixed so I had to send my phone in and they would send a new one back to me. This means going without a phone for 2-3 weeks weeks.
    Within a month of receiving the “new” phone, the battery dies completely by noon (4-5 working hours). I question if I had received a new phone or a refurbished phone? The phone that I sent in because of a broken camera battery lasted much longer and it was several months old. Also the finger print sensor was significantly less sensitive than the first pixel 3 phone I had (another reason why I think they may have sent me a refurbished phone).
    I now had to send the phone in again, go another 2-3 weeks without a phone. I was very disappointed with this product as it was said to be one of the better phones on the market and it wasn’t cheap. I requested a refund instead of another draw out exchange for a ‘new’ phone.
    I was told I would hear back from someone within 5 days. It took them 3 weeks to get back to me. And all I received was an email saying please call us. I called 6 more times until we finally arrived to unfavorable and disappointing answer. Each representative that I talked to said they would look into the issue and get back to me. Some promised to call me back within the hour, others the next day, some said in 1-3 days. No one ever got back to me so I had to continue to call and share my process all over again. On the 4th and 5th call, I asked to stay on the line while they looked into it since the previous representatives didn’t get back to me. Each time they assured me they would personally take are of it and promised to get back to me. I am a trusting person and so went along. The google assistants were very nice; however, they all lacked follow through. This process went on for another 2 weeks and hours and hours on the phone with google.
    Each time I had told them that I am leaving the country right after christmas and thus am running out of time to send the phone in to get a ‘new’ one.
    They finally gave me an answer saying that their policy does not allow exchanges and cannot help me in getting a phone faster than within their 2-3 weeks exchange rate. It took me 6 weeks to get to this answer and I am now out of time because of leaving the country to get a replacement. All of this is clearly documented and recorded and they were not willing to compensate for their multiple mistakes in any way. They would just say. “I sincerely apologize.”
    Google does not allow you to leave a review on their site where you can purchase the phone directly. I also do not think this is a good sign.
    I do not recommend this phone or anything that will require you to rely upon google services.
