Time after time after time, i'll find myself listening this awesomeness!!!!! I'm glad that we did have awesome people in our youth. NOwdays there's nothing like those days.. Long live Jeroen Tel !!!!!!
Thank you, David! The crowd didn't move much, but wasn't that tough... they loved it! :-) Geek concerts are generally not crowd-movers (I'm talking from quite some experience), but the crowd really appreciate the music and will tell you afterwards. That seems like mustard after the meal (Dutch expression) but when you know that is what's going to happen anyway it's a lot of fun to do! :-)
@@JeroenTel Absolutely. I told this before already but I feel like writing it down again: I see only happy faces drown in the best trance music can produce, every single one of them is enjoying this immensely. Some seem even teary-eyed with their bliss, probably not even noticing it... I return to this video time and time again and wish I would have been there. I really thank you for bringing this much joy to people.
Great that Jeroen and the other great game composers are being recognised for their wonderful efforts! I grew up with this music, but I know a fair few youngsters who absolutely love it too, and I'm starting to understand that it's not just nostalgia. The techniques for coaxing a wide thick sound from the SID and other chips has laid some important groundwork in all fields of music, I feel: limitation drives creativity and humans are at their best when bending things to do things they weren't supposed to do! A creative person sees this. Some of today's electronic composers should take note of what can be achieved with a minimal setup, a billion tracks of sound in Ableton seems to have flattened creativity somewhat I reckon!
These words mean a lot to me, Benjamin, Jean-Michelle Jarre said exactly the same thing! (limit your setup and learn from the limitations). I didn't even know before I started to live (yes live) with those limitations, but it's absolutely true... Limitation pushes creativity to a completely new level. Rob Hubbard said it right too (he's a friend a very very good composer) ... "trying to write music with boxing gloves on". ;-)
I didn't grow up with the c64, but i really like the music from that era, and Jeroen's music really stands above that! Just want to say, that he makes awesome music, with such limited hardware! such skill!
I was a Speccy fanaticbut I have many of these tunes burnt into my brain because my childhood friends had C64s and it just blows my mind Jeroen you are a legend.

+Marc Losper I'll join you on this one - Do you have a full track list Jeroen? (I know he usually responds to/reads all comments on his videos! Hardcore! :D)
It's very hard to give out a tracklist of the "unknown songs" because I never released them as individual tracks yet. I do that, but I'm also very slow because there are so damn many I hardly get to it. Anyway, I'll see if I can release a set in MP3 format or something soon.
You've got to love the computing scene - the only 'disco' where its like that first disco at primary school and no one dances :) The real life social awkwardness and mixture of pleasure and pain in not being able to share it from Abigail's party. Not taking the mick - just observing - i.e. I'm right up there with loving this sound but not being able to dance.
They didn't move much (not a particularly moving crowd, doesn't happen much at computer events), but I can tell you that after the show many came to tell their appreciation for the music and show. :-)
If i could share my thought: Blow My Mind Cool! Hope Jeroen Tel had a good time. He looks much younger than i thought he would be! But if you would dare go only SID that would be SOO much better. Hardcore, to the bone. But it is much more important to have fun! Been a gamer since ´87 and it is SOO good to see Jeroen Tel perform!!! Thank you all at classic ASSEMBLY!!
I think it's not easy to add anything to existing classic SID tunes. More often than not I find tunes lose in power when they are "remixed". People demand more from a live performance than a playback of the exact same tunes they already know, so then I understand Jeroen does a bit of remixing. But to be honest in this performance I only really liked the Mega Apocalypse en Robocop tunes.
