You have to remain extremely cautious if you want to take reference from this video. It will sound strange in informal writing. I still believe having a good overall structure, coming up with some convincing points and intriguing ideas using the right tone and language, though it would take years to master, are far more important than replacing with a few impressive words. Don't get me wrong. I am by no means saying elegant and difficult words are not useful, but let them flow naturally and appropriately in your writing. Examiners would know if you try to squeeze them in.
Also, some of the usage may be slightly off. For example, native speakers usually say "Christmas is coming", or "Christmas is near", but not "Christmas is approaching". However, in general, the video will be helpful to Cantonese speakers who are looking for some tips to improve their English.
What would the UK Royal Members (especially Princess Catherine and Prince William) usually say when they greet the crowd on the street. Can you please talk about this?
Can Melody please devote a programme to teach how not to pronounce words starting with "N" with the "L" sound? A very common HK style English speaking, eg "Number 1" becomes "Lumber 1"; "Night" becomes "Light"; "New" becomes "Lew" etc. Collective failure of most English teachers except in the elite schools.
