Throwing the chords up like you do right on the screen is EXCELLENT, vs; ''this little finger goes on fret number 6 and yer' big finger goes over there to the number 4 fret on there' 5th strang' which is C# and then.... 😄😄 ------------- The big channels that have a million plus subs don't do that, they waste so much of our time, and we can't tell if a finger is on a note or just hanging around, they don't even bother to lift the unused fingers out of the way or try to. Thanks, great format here.
Another outstanding job on how to play a song. And finally someone telling how to use the harmony with this pedal. That's the main reason I bought it. Hitchin a ride, my favorite Boston song. Is one of the top 100 songs with the greatest solo.
Your lesson was fantastic! I taught 5th&6th grade math/science so, I know how much work can go into a lesson plan. It definitely paid off on this lesson. I appreciate it.
Nice lesson, great song. Yes , the harmonizer is soooo good. I think he was one if not the first to take that effect mainstream Tom was actually very underrated but very much one of the greats of all time. Just listen to Boston and tell me if I'm wrong. That first album was EPIC for sure. He was also a mastermind with electronics hence Rockman stereo echo, my fav all time delay, Rockman stereo chorus lush and beautiful. I have had the echo for years now and will never sell it. Peace!
Wow!! Thanks, something I've always wanted to Learn and be able to Play. The PS-6 has long been on my List TO HAVE, as well as the SY-1 Synth, one of them will be next pedal. We'll see Which Direction I go First....
Thanks! I love your channel! Thanks for introducing me to this pedal. When I first started learning guitar, this sound was exactly what I hoped to get one day, only to sadly find out they get their signature sound from multi tracking or multiple guitars. I will definitely look into getting one of these pedals.
I'm with you, that first part sounded like the Alman Brothers, Rambling Man. I am going to link below, I think I can run it through my Roland Stereo Cube 👍
Talking about pedals. Way back about 1992 I was on one of the very early on line guitar chat forums and I wanted to know if anyone knew about making effect pedals. At that time I wanted one that would change the guitar tuning without me having to do it. Or drop D tuning and things like that. EVERYONE on line just said I was stupid to think anyone would do that and it couldn't possibly be done. I just wanted more than fuzz and chorus pedals
You have a great channel ...asking again...any chance you can do frozen love from buckingham nicks...its a complex tune which I think u could pull it off...nobodies done it yet...hard for me to even find a tab let alone learn a melody....
12 FOOT CHAIN, Tom Scholz uses Modulations, key changes, sus chords, it would be nice if you made a video lesson just showing which boston songs how they key change and modulate and using Sus chords to pivot. The scales he uses are major scales and minor scale but the Themes are a Note group Pitchset because he will play the melody theme then shift the note of the theme to start on a different scale degree and restate the theme starting on a different scale degree of the theme. I think this is called pitchset and pitch area in classical music but you should get a bunch of boston themes that do this and make a video lesson about it.
I had wanted to do my own video teaching this song but life just gets in the way. How do you guys find the time? Couple of things aren’t exactly like on the song but if I’d make a video it would probably turn out I have a couple of things not exact either. Boston and Kansas are my two favorite bands and this is my favorite Boston song. Get a multi-effect floor unit that has an intelligent harmonizer and then you can use its acoustic guitar modeler as well as the octaves that works to get you close to what it does at the end of the song between harmony parts. That part is octaves with a bit of harmony. Hard to explain it.
Hey I changed all the tubes in my Marshall 2204 tonight and when I get the last one in the powere went off and didn’t come back on, do you know what’s going on??
I got one comeing tomorrow, I hope I can get that sound and I have 8 amps . Can I run it through the fronts of the amps? I got choirs and echo running through the front and they sound good. What do you think, please answer me back
The pedal has stereo outs, so you can run one cable out to each of 2 amps. Spread them out a bit left and right if you can and srand in the middle. It sounds so huge
Thanks a lot for answering me back, so you can say you was the reason I bought the pedal, it sound so good through your rig. Now can I get that full sound without running it through the send and return, only one of my amps had an effect loop. Can I get that sound through the front of the amps? I know I do through my super course and my rv 6 reverb pedal
I got my Boss PS 6 today super fast after ordering it off e bay just a couple days ago after seeing your video & years of looking for a pedal that can do proper harmony's. I set it like you have here, balance & shift at 12 o clock Key E, & mode to major but it still sounds weird. Not like yours. Am i doing something wrong??
I have a killer backing track for this with rhythm gtrs for both solos and the acoustic intro but no contact info to email it. It's the actual band on the track.
not sure where to start with that. More than a feeling is in D, Peace of Mind in E. more than a feeling has a 12 string acoustic, peace of mind has 6 string acoustic. I believe both use the same harmony interval of adding a major 3rd in harmony on the harmonized leads if you were using the boss harmonist ps-6.
Way back in the 70s I heard that Tom wrote all the music and he played all the music and instruments in the studio...is it possible that a first timer could write and record this epic sound...and in his garage
Tom Scholtz went to MIT He was a genius, not was just a guitarist. He was like Les Paul, Jimmy Page, and EVH. But he was a terrible business man. Check the Boston Wikipedia page.
There are several bands I have my suspicion on did they write there first few albums..Boston ...Beatles and Guns and Roses...there first or there first few albums are just to good to complex to many layers in the music and lyrics for guys that could not read or write music
Really liked this. But 23 minutes out of 29 minutes to really hear the harmony lick? So tasty the only thing that dropped out of my mouth was, "Oh, fuck you."
Did you ever live in Austin Texas with a model girlfriend from Australia and have an Aussie doggy? You look familiar. We had the other Aussie named “Cecco.”
My memory is probably faulty, but this guy played guitar in downtown Austin and was pretty good. You have a twin. My wife reminded me his model wife was from South Africa not Australia. Take care.
No! It’s not cool! You had to know to bend that note just a bit flat in order for the harmonies to work. That’s not intuitive. That’s troubleshooting. check out 22.34 -22.37 It even threw you off the first time. I just don’t see the utility in that. I have a good year, but playing live? Especially if I was not performing just some kind of beat track but with an actual band? Good luck.
Got a PS-6, got stolen - Reverb paid the claim. It pays to be in good standing. Also, next time deliver it to the office store, UPS pickup fee, Fedex cost more up front. That said, right when you got the giggles, so did I. Sounds so good. Think of all the Allmans and Thin Lizzy you can do!!🦣
Liking it before watching it because it's Boston
How do you get to see your settings

He designed the rockman pedle
Tom didn’t use a harmonizer. He played both parts. Then live Barry Goodreau (spelling?) played the harmony.
Great lesson Boston #1 was the all time great guitar album Tom is and was a genius!!
Great lesson!!! It’s people like you that keep me playing my guitar! Thanks for keeping music in my life!❤️
Thanks and great demo / video as always!
You keep hitting them out of the park 12 Ft ♪♫♪♫♪ I saw them in 1978 at a ripe age on 12 and in 1995 😀
Nice playing and lesson. That pedal...holy crap!
Awesome playing and fantastic tone!!
Fantastic lesson sir I'm getting one of those boxes. Thx for sharing.awrsome break down of a wonderful song.
No one shares their tone! Thank you!
Awesome, I learned a lot! Lots of different ways to play it. Also, way to shout out to Shut Up & Play!
Whoa! Nice! That pedal is epic in a box. Sounds incredible. Awesome playing too, man!
Rockman Sustanor and Chorus/Echo is the key, but you really nailed it once again!
Sick - absolutely love it … great song great lesson
Please do Hitch a Ride 🙏
Be content what you get
Thanks!

That is sooooo cool!!!! Awesome! Thank you
Awesome lesson! Now all you need is a singer that can reach that register! Thank you!
Can you play I think I like it of boston a tutorial excellent video
I bought a DITTO LOOPER for the harmony double lead part..As a kid i couldnt figure Boston out.ROCK ROLL HALL A FAMERS.
Ur a very good instructor ty
This is a great help for those who don’t have $500+ for a Rockman lol
so cool!!! thanks
Fantastic! Thank You…
schultz made the Boston box years ago, had one, sounded just like his sound. rocktron.
It was called the Rockman. Rocktron is a different company.
correct; my bad. not sure what happened to it but it was cool through the amp or just headphones.
So that is how you can do it!!!!! Neat!!!!
Dude just singlehandedly sold more boss chorus pedals than all the stores in the country combined.
Thank you. Epic.
excellent video
Could you do a guitar lesson on Boston’s Rock & Roll Band?
Excellent.
Put an octave pedal after the Harmonist's Output A for that missing low harmony during the outro. Thanks for the awesome videos!
EPIC!
My favorite song....
Harmonist pedal would also work well with Allman Bros. Nice lesson!

Fantastic
The Keith chord is also what I call the KISS chord or the Poison chord. They all use that same progression off the main finger.
What were your settings on the Harmonist? Thanks for the breakdown of an EPIC song.
glad you liked! I have all the settings stuff in the video description.

What is the adjustment for the parameters on Boss PS-6 for this song?

Been waiting for this! If you are the only guitar player... Thin Lizzy, too.
Chorus pedals in 1976?
It’s G# over c# minor, no it’s not a power chord it is the minor chord. Later on it is but not the intro.

i Found the X-100 Rockman into two JCM-2000's stereo works like the real deal and even Sabbath sounds better 💫 Just lift the ground off one amp !
Why can’t no one else get this sound, you show us how you get it

There wasnt any chorus on the first album i heard they used a 🐔wah
