Thank you for the video. It was very informative. I was on a corticosteroid for three weeks that wreaked havoc with my blood sugar (I have no history of blood sugar issues). I have been proscribed Glipizide ER to control the blood sugar. Now that I am off the steroids I am feeling much better and the Glipizide tends to drop my blood sugar in the afternoon quite a bit. I hope to be off Glipizide soon, and I am monitoring my blood sugar several times a day to make sure that I do not crash. Your description of low blood sugar was spot on for me. I had virtually all of the symptoms. Your video helped me to put this all in perspective. Well done.
Great video. I have a 2 questions: 1. Since Glipizide forces the pancreas to release more insulin, isn’t that an additional strain on my already strained ( T2D, ) pancreatic beta cells? Won’t they wear out even faster? 2. Since insulin also shunts excess glucose back to my liver to be converted to triglycerides for storage, does that exacerbate my NAFLD?
Yes and Yes. Glipizide will eventually become less effective over time. There are some interesting studies showing Low carbohydrate diets may reverse NAFLD, bjsm.bmj.com/content/51/2/133
Just go low carb and no sugar. Will help your pancreas and liver. I got glipizide too and I refuse to take it. I changed my diet. Fasting glucose down from 150s to 120s in 4 weeks. I'm staying with this way of eating. I know it will get better.

I work out 5 days a week Monday through Friday for 1 hour maybe 10 minutes and I've noticed the first time taken the glipizide I was very constipated it's only been 2 days I stopped taking metformin about a year ago because my mom died from kidney failure and I had a few other friends that have died from taking that took metformin so now I'm only on the glipizide and I'm going to start watching my blood sugars but my question to you is should I be concerned about the constipation
I guess I am lucky, I've been taking metformin for over 25 years, 2x1000mgs daily with no noticeable side effects. I will be 79 in a few days and I'm hoping longevity is a metformin side effect...it is being tested for that now.......
@@chriseanrockshands2961 all the research I've done shows that my blood sugar could not have gone up by taking Wellbutrin but the fact remains is I've done nothing differently other than start taking Wellbutrin and my blood sugar has jumped considerably just the mechanism of the drug shows that it should not have that effect in fact it should have an opposite effect because most people will eat less on Wellbutrin because it raises your metabolism anyway I'm an aggressive personality and I found that on Wellbutrin it has made me more aggressive and agitated and also I live in Phoenix it makes you very hot because of the raising of your metabolism so be careful and do stay hydrated

my sugar was 176 took 2 cause i ran out of met. now im scared to take any more ever again cause it made my sugar go up to 236. either the med has sugar in it or im about dead.

Glipizide has no effect on my sugars at all. 20 mg on empty stomach. 30 min later same sugars, even at 1 hr, no change.
If this makes the pancreas, create more insulin, and I am insulin resistant, why would this work for me?
It will make you worse. Bad for pancreas and liver. And cause weight gain.

If you ate after taken it have to check your sugar level an 1 hour after eating.
