#dualboot #ubuntu #windows11
Just remember a simple principle and you will be fine. Install Windows first then the Linux. If you reverse the order of installation, you will have a lot of trouble. Linux's Grub bootloader and boot manager manages dual-boot well.
This guy is right.
I wanted to ask, is it still possible to install windows as well after installing Ubuntu? But it’s just not practical because of how the windows boot manager operates?
This video was very helpful to install Ubuntu and windows in my new PC, I love your videos.
You’re the best.🐤
For those who boot straight into windows you guys need to set kali first in the boot priority in the bios and grub will load so you can choose to boot into windows or linux
Install Ubuntu alongside Windows Boot Manager doesn’t appear? Any solution.
Same 😭
I think its available on newer ubuntu installation versions mine is 23.x.x
Thanks, this made it easy to install Ubuntu. When I got into Ubuntu I was totally lost though and struggled just to install open Razer so my Razer mice would feel normal. Even just a few tips on how to install programs would have been great. Thanks for your work though, without it I would have been totally lost.
Important thing to point out is that windows and ubuntu can’t be in the same partition
is it like both can't be on the C drive? Can I install Ubontu in any other drive other than C?
@@sinthy08yes they can't live both on C drive you have to shrink your drive if you have no other drives, otherwise you can install Ubuntu on a different drive/disk
@@marwansalah6386I installed them on the same partition mistakely....What to do now? I can't boot my windows though it's in my disk...
What if the bios mode mode is legacy ?
@@iantevins172 then it must be selected as MBR instead of GPT in rufus
What if my pc is an old model that doesn't have UEFI FIRMWARE ? Can it still dual boot?
nobody answered you but just spam the bios key when you restart the pc
ubuntu is being installed in a different drive where windows is present or same drive ? like same C drive where windows is already there or different drive ?
Same drive
can I CREate partions disk space before on windows and chose that disk space on linux manually?
Great video with great and precise explanation. Thank you 😊
I'm trying to install Kubuntu 23.10 on the same NVMe stick as Windows 11. I never get the screen that asks to install alongside Windows. The installer jumps to the partitioning screen and wants to use the entire disk. How do I get the Ubuntu installer to see the Windows partitions?
I think you should make disk partitions in windows first.
ive made disk partitions first in windows but im having the same issue
After partitioning check storage settings from boot, ssd is messy.
I have windows installed on a SSD without extra memory, so I want to install Ubuntu on my 1TB HD, can I do that following the way you did?
what did you do? I also want to do the same
@@dishabiswas5705 Get any solution?
i don't have an extra memory on my SSD too, anyone can answer that? can we install Ubuntu on the HDD instead of the SSD and how ??
Do this delete my data from hard disk
I did everything the same, but when trying to install Ubuntu, instead of "This computer curretly has Windows boot manager...," it shows "You don't have any operating system. Do you want to install Ubuntu?" I canceled the installation and rebooted, and Windows opened normally. I have no idea why this error is happening. Please, if anyone knows, help me!
thats weird, the jump drive doesn't see the windows drive?
This is great tutorial, just wondering how to uninstall ubuntu ?
As a fairshot i saw the whole video first before commenting. This method only works for older laptops and non uefi desktops. If you had ssd it is even more messier. You spent a lot of time showing the installation part rather than the configuration part. Configuring both to work is the most important thing here. It's not just boot priority they have to turn off secure boot because ubuntu doesn't get that signing. It's not just create another drive and install it there. You've to also check if it's RAID on or ach/vme that's the most important thing. This video is probably for users who have like 10 year old devices. Please make sure to deliver users all the pitfalls that come through out the process. Most viewers are coming here to see the errors they might encounter before doing something. And if you show just the general methodologies then there is no point of making this video. There's a lot of this already present
I am not getting UFEI firmware settings option please help
try pressing the f8 or f7 key on your keyboard while it boots
I have a bigger problem! Power on immediately enter the password comes on screen windows login doesn't even load first? Can you help with that?
Could you solve the problem? Facing the same issue. Tried most of the solutions on the internet
Check if you're safe boot is ON, it should be OFF. Also fix the order of boot. Hopefully this works.
@@nikhil182 What must be the boot order?
1.Ubuntu 2.Windows ?
@@karthikprabhu23223 It should display a table with an option to select ubuntu or win. Checkout this image - itsfoss.com/content/images/wordpress/2021/02/dual-boot-grub-screen.jpg
What about the swap file ?
It it be created automatically?
Do we have to do backup? Is it safe?
Always. Always backup. Make restore points, time shifts everything. You should always be cautious. You should always have the memory of last step before stepping to next
Is Acer aspire Lite support duel booting?
Obviously support
you didn't do disk partition for that
I chose to boot first from USB but it still loads Windows directly what should I do?
I have same problem. Did you find any solution for it?

What if I have two hard drives, currently under windows C: and D:, and want to dual-boot Linux on D?
You can do that, just make sure both disks are in the same partition scheme
I don’t have option to install Ubuntu alongside the windows boot manager any ideas?
Same here only 2 other options I have,
@@shravanshra23 I figured it out I had to format my drive that I had windows installed on
I want my windows too, i have it installed in c:/, i emptied d:/ drive n made 100 gb unallocated,
If i proceed with ,3rd option n goes to the partition manager, its not detected in same way as in windows. I afraid of windows getting formatted.
i heard that it'd be better to install ubuntu on a seperate drive along from windows. Is it right?
Both are fine depending on where u want to keep them
If I select "Erase disk and install ubuntu" will it prompt to select a disk or by default it will go ahead and format C:\ drive. ? Ubuntu people have scope for improvement user-friendliness here.
It will format all the data
I did all the steps up until 3:17 but I don’t see the EFI Frimware icon, what should i do?
You can manually enter your computers BIOS by pressing a specific key or key combination on startup that varies depending on your computer. For me it's f12. Yours could be f11, f1 etc.
At 5:30 when I removed the pendrive, laptop restarted into windows without the grub menu.
The grub menu is visible only for 1 sec now. Too short to choose ubuntu.
I have same problem. How you fix this?
@@miratmirat2034 Didn't solve the problem yet.

Even though I tried it twice, the EFI USB doesn't show up on the boot priority order. Please help.
