- A compilation of the 3D cinematic movies created as part of the Outrage Entertainment Development Team for the "Descent 3" PC Game project, published by Interplay. My contributions were the original screenplay, storyboards, 5 minutes of intro animation, several sets, props, and robots including the Beagle Bay set, Red Acropolis, the Expediator Dreadnaught, Dravis Guard Drone, Material Defender's Blaster, Guidebot, and the RG Unit.
I read somewhere that people dislike that the Material Defender and Dravis were given a face but I don't feel the same.
Sure the visuals are outdated now but I don't think it was a bad decision on the developers' part to focus more on the characters.
I think the visuals looked even back then for its time outdated
RIP to the voice actor David Warner who is Samuel Dravis and you will be missed! 😢

It always brought a bit of a tear to my eye to see the Pyro gx fall into the star and burn up. farewell girl you were a good ship.

The rage sound when the Descent 3 logo comes, really portrays the feeling I was having there. Goodbye Pyro
The way I see it, our girl Pyro goes to Valhalla with all the glory; undefeated in combat to this day; manages to keep MD alive AND get herself an epic honorable Viking Funeral in space, burning in the fire of that star, that poetically fit the meaning of her name and bring a logical conclusion to her arc and reason to exist. Full circle, elegant... ashes to ashes, dust to dust, fire to fire. It's a flawless victory for me.
I felt at first is it all over? But thankfully they saved me
I wish it didn't have to die just yet. Just like I wish the guide bot didn't have to due. But it did honorably against Drayvis.
This game was a big slice of my childhood. I liked it so much that I even started making custom missions for Descent II via DMB2 (wish I still had those files). It was awesome finally getting to see what was next for Material Defender.
Thanks bloodrunsclear! I really loved working on the Descent games. I've tried many times to get a new Descent going. Hybrid vehicle shooters are hot, and I have no doubts that it could be a lucrative title on both PC & console.
If you worked on these then you deserve my sincere admiration and thanks. You have given me so many years of pleasure and I still play the games today. Particularly Descent 3 which has aged so well, still looks and plays great.
Like everyone else I also adore the intro and watch it through every time I play.
I too have a dream that one day we will get Descent 4 - but it seems such a mammoth undertaking for a game which would not garner mass market sales I'm afraid. Thanks again, you are a video game legend.

I used to enjoy this game a long time ago back in childhood. Was my very first T for Teen rated game. Never got too far with it, but it was so much fun. Thanks for sharing!

I tired like heck to get a "Descent 4" going, "Descent: Dominion" - the idea was to create an Online world of Mining Factions, players build up a robot armada while mining asteroids and planets, and must defend your mineral rights from other factions - so yeah massive PvP vs. Carebear online :D. But after investigating, Interplay held onto the "Descent" franchise license and needed to move on it over time or lose it. Then "Descendent Studios" began work on "Descent Underground" and is the official licensee through Interplay, and launched an early access game on Steam store.steampowered.com/app/360950/ Now some of the original team are currently working with Matt Toschlog on "OVERLOAD" which is - well - take a look! playoverload.com/ :D

Missed the cut scene where the PTMC sets up Material Defender as a terrorist and the CED attacks the Red Acropolis.

What they could’ve done was bring the Pyro GX back to base and get it repair. And if they did Pyro GX will be repair and upgrade with weapons, new colour, new booster, and all sorts. IN that way Material Defender will still be happy and sill use it.
But it’s gone R.I.P Pyro GX. We salute you🫡.

If we ever see a new Descent game, can we please get a return of the Class 1 Driller? Those things are mean as hell, and one of the scariest things in D1 to be "gang-loved" by...

D3's weapon and robot balance was really, really bad, but its story, presentation and aesthetics were super cool I think. Still, I mostly keep to D1 and D2, can't go wrong with those games.
I found my descent 1&2 definitive collection CDs and descent 3, although the condition of D3 cds is horrible.
My d1 and 2 CDs can't play on Win10 unless i use some sort of emulation software to get it to run.

I used the DXX Rebirth site to play them - had D1 and D2 for a long time but never played them, loved D3 tho. Was nice to play D1 and D2 in the end on a Windows 10 PC ...

No, that is just a bug.
@@BigLoad_D3 figures. I always got stuck there as a kid, though figuring out I had to go into the mirror array and align the nodes in the next level was much worse.

Ты пропустил одну катсцену, которая есть после прохождения 4 уровня, и вобше кроме таких сцен надо с каждого уровня начало и конец (показывает цель уровня, и конец миссии уровня), этие ещё добавить!
Ну, добавить то, что перед каждым уровнем не надо, это брифинги, тема отдельная, а вот катсцену перед 5 уровнем хорошо бы увидеть. Я, вообще, её и искал. Это там, где Кэтлин говорит, что CED объявили Красный Акрополь террористами, а MD1032 - их лидером
