Honest question: how can you expect to sell slabs going forward when anyone can swap books out at home without ever having to reholder at CGC? There's just no way to know for certain that a slab wasn't tampered with. I'm freaking out over this tbh.
I’m interested in Bry’s opinion on this matter, too. Speaking for myself, I just picked up the 2 foil Jock Batmans in this video. They’re not pricey, they’re not the type of book we’re seeing on”the list,” and I trust Bry would stand behind anything I bought from him. That being said, I will not buy a grail or a pricey comic book until this whole mess gets sorted out. Of course, I don’t want to buy a scam book, but I also don’t want to have to get an expensive genuine grail I buy now get re-holdered/ re-graded with whatever new slab CGC develops in the near future should I decide to sell or trade the grail a year from now.
I have seen zero impact on sales after this whole CGC scam thing. For most books it would make no sense to try and swap a book out. We’re working on wording and implementing a new policy for incoming inventory to make sure the books haven’t been tampered with. It’s not as easy to pull this off as people are making it seem, you’d have to be a very talented, knowledgeable scumbag to pull this off. I’m not saying it isn’t a big deal or something that needs our attention but I am saying you shouldn’t be freaking out, in my opinion. Definitely make sure to only buy from reputable sellers that stand behind their product, I would be weary of eBay etc at the moment myself for certain books, but again most books wouldn’t even apply.
Absolutely, I’d always stand by my product, as you know 👍. It will be interesting to see what happens with a new case scenario, because if you can just send in a book to be reholdered in a new case without regrading it wouldn’t provide any kind of assurance…we shall see!
Yeah I think the whole cgc thing is a big deal, but at the same time don't think its the end of the world. I would be worried buying any high grade ASM or 181 but lot of the rare golden age stuff would be way harder to pull this off with out people noticing. Most moderns not worth the effort to go through the trouble to do it. So don't think as many books are affected as one would think. But yeah CGC needs to regain trust of the community asap especially since I hate dealing with them to begin with cause of the QC issues. Hate waiting forever to finally get a order back to just turn around and have to send them back as a mechanical error and have to wait longer again to get them back. Will see what happens.
@@BrysComics I have 2 batman adventures 12 in 9.8 newsstand and one 9.6. Honestly , would you buy those books from me at FMV without worrying they were tampered with? This is my main concern. I have other books like that. And they were all sent in for grading from me so I know they're legit. But how could anyone else be sure? There's been no guidance on this. When CGC puts out a new case, I want my grades preserved if I resubmit. This is the kind of stuff I'd like to see big names like you discussing. I know I'm not the only casual collector/seller freaking out over this.
I have some great comics hulk 181 hulk 340 asm 252, 300 alot of uncanny xmen. Alot of my comics were never read and are news stands.
