Raffaella Reggi was a tough grinder and could be competitive with the best players on her day. She managed to get a win over a young Steffi Graf in 1984, and then took Steffi to three sets at the 1986 US Open. In 1988 she beat Chris Evert at the Olympics and took Martina Navratilova to three sets at Hilton Head. She also took Gabriela Sabatini to three sets twice: once in Boca Raton in 1987 and then at the 1989 Australian Open. She also beat Hana Mandlikova twice.
I think the dropshot at 28.50 was matchpoint to Reggi. Sanchez Vicario always had that kind of audacity - remember the drop half volley to stave off break points against Graf at 5-5 third set in Wimbledon 95 final? Shades of Tracy Austin in Reggi's game. Super match.
Thankfully back in those days the players developed their games differently, they all had their quirks, they weren't coming off a conveyor belt all playing the same as they do now, which is very boring no matter how fast it is now. No one would have taught someone to play like Seles did, or play a forehand like Graf, that was all natural talent.
Such a great video quality for a match that is 35 years old. Thanks a lot ❤
This match was EPIC ❤
Thank you so much for the video with Arantxa. Really want to see more of her matches in the first rounds of major tournaments.

Ciao
Per caso hai anche Golarsa Evert e Cane' Mayotte sempre di Wimbledon 1989 con telecronaca in italiano?
looks like slow motion , you appreciate how good Graf was , and still would be No 1, Reggies forehand is technically awful
