ILHÉUS SUSTENTÁVEIS - SARA AZAD AT CASA IMPROVÁVEL- Ã

She is azorean, she is a waterglider and an artist.
It is through her art that Sara shows her activist side and talks about those problems that irritate her.
The project "ilhéus sustentáveis" (sustainable islets) seeks to counteract a scenario pictorially sustainable (seen from the outside by the people who are potentially interested in visiting the Azores) with a local scenery camouflaged by the green and sustainable images that the region externalizes, with the purpose of reflecting on this universe and local reality. Also, on the other hand, and because I believe in the potential of the islanders and the region as an ideal place to get the best quality of life in the most sustainable way possible, this is an attempt to enhance the identity that is so characteristic of the island through humor, personal opinions and ludicrous situations.
This is an exhibition of comics consisting of an informal and sketchy portrait of the island and carefree conversations with people. It was intended to seek the locals' thoughts, believing that every opinion and concern are valid, irrespective of their nature: some more serious, some comic and others unimaginable.
This exhibition took place at @casaimprovavelazores and this project has the support of PARES - Support Program for Artistic Activity in the Azores (2023)
