How did this man flawlessly style on Hornet first try and then fall in the same acid pit 7 times
I swear I had an aneurism watching this. Like just look down😭😭😭
Honestly
Platforming is so much harder than the bosses in this game no cap
@@Jackaldraws hell no
@@zacharywoloszynski4258 my brother in Christ, the vanilla boss fights in hollow knight are super predictable. If we were talking about the godseekers dlc boss fights, that’s a different story. I beat every vanilla boss in a max of 5 tries except for the bosses like the mantis lords, traitor lord, or Colosseum of fools trials, but that’s because I kept on getting hurt on the platforming sections and contact damage from small bugs and showed up to each fight at half health lmao.
You know Therm has fully gone to hollow knight mode when his first reaction towards a locked door behind him is "Oh I haven't benched."

Let me fix that
Yeah
More like 1.7K and only 2 comments, let me fix that

That first door locking behind you in the Nosk lair...
It's so fascinating to me how you killed the watcher knights in 11 tries with 5 health but it took you 53 tries to kill lost kin
Lost kin is easier than watcher knights I swear
@@oliverhickman9747 A lot easier haha
@@oliverhickman9747 I AGREE but only first time
Imo watcher knights is way more easier
I mean personally I beat watcher knights in 3 tries but lost kin took me around 40 lol
Can I watch a two hour movie without taking a break? No.
Did I just watch this start to finish in one sitting? Yes, yes I did
so you **can** watch a 3 hour video

My favorite part about this is when Therm just kinda says "yeah and we found a spot where we die" and proceeds to walk off a ledge and die again.
I don't think I've ever seen such a disparity between combat ability and platforming ability 😂 no problem with Hornet but you walk casually off a cliff to your death a hundred times, incredible 😂
It’s probably because he never heals when he’s low on health while platforming 😆
@@yeahkeen2905same tbh adhd is a bitch with these sorts of games 😭
the fact that he barely doesnt use spells throughout the playthrough and still gets through is actually crazy
I did my first run spell less. Didnt fit my playthought 😆 i was just nailing those bastards and body slamming myself into them XD it changed when i did steelsoul and died to Traitor Lord 😆😆
Yeah, I never used spells. Just mark of prided to 112%... looking back i made it harder than i shouldve
He didn't even get the harrowing wraiths 😭
that's pretty standard all things considered
I never got used to doing anything but base combat tbh. I definitely used the dash, but other than that pure nail was the most comfortable
This was by far my favorite reaction to Millibelle
Didn't even give her time to finish her "surprised" animation
My first time playing hollow knight and walking into green path was no joke a life-changing experience. It made me realize how much art can make a person feel. I’m so excited to watch the rest of this video, hearing people talk about my favourite game is heart-warming
If you loved greenpath in hollow knight I think you would LOVE Ori and the Blind Forest! You should check it out! It's a metroidvania platformer like hollow knight (with less emphasis on combat and more on movement) and its absolutely beautiful :)
@@lunifae9430 I played blindforest and I definitely liked it, but to me Hollow Knight really was at another level
@@lunifae9430 Dude, anyone who played HK knows that blind forest exists. Those are literally the two most popular indie metroidvania ever.

Therm: oops
You're the first streamer I see playing this on YT that actually reflects on how difficult most people find this game. A lot of streamers first shot a lot or even the most of of the bosses. This is how much normal people like me suffered (and loved) the game.
I love how Therm just occasionally screams, "GET THE CHILD, HIT THE CHILD, KILL THE CHILD!!!". All jokes aside though, I absolutely love this compilation and find it amazing how despite spending a ton of time on my playthrough there's still so much new stuff that I saw here.
i have chills just from the intro - the use of the sealed vessel track hits different. can't wait see the whole thing. also, thank you to peri for editing this absolute monster of a video
🥺🥺 thank you for watching and enjoying!
Bro I think its the trauma, all though it really does hit different.

TIME STAMPS FOR ALL THE IMPORTANT STUFF BECAUSE I LOVE THIS VIDEO :D I've never watched Therm before, but now I'm excited to see more! One of the most enjoyable Hollow Knight playthrough videos I've watched in a long, long time. And this is coming from someone who has 176 hours in the game, which is a lot for me. These time stamps do not nearly do this video justice, so please watch the entire thing!
The pacing of this video is fast in portions, and some areas/NPCs are casually mentioned in passing. I tried to get all I could. Check the replies for the rest of them!

Watching the lost kin fight was actually pretty interesting, was apparent just how much it increased your abilities
2:39:41 “is that my like way cooler, more accomplished older brother” *lore accurate*
That long drop through the treasure chest and down to the two armadillo-lookin' boys (at 16:45) is such a sneaky little dev trick! Since they curl up when you go near them, you could easily camp near one and de-aggro it while you blast the other and fend off its babies. But anyone I've ever watched play this game panics and ends up staying in the middle, forcing themselves to fight both at once. It's pure evil game design >:)
Oh... OH...
I have 200+ hours in this game.
I feel like an absolute idiot because I never thought of that lol.
That’s how I finally got ‘em! I was way too stressed to ever kill them standing in the middle
The fact I did this on my first playthrough is-
I was stuck on the first Hornet fight for MONTHS. Put the game down for so long because of it. I picked it back up again the Christmas before COVID and with a lack of anything better to do and completely no knowledge of the game, I grinded at it until I beat it. After that I had nothing but time to sink into this game. I truly think that fight is meant to kick you into fighting shape for the rest of the game, and going back to it now is so easy.
i absolutely LOVE how the game teaches you to 'get guud' as hornet says. like actually playing through it and seeing yourself become better and better is AMAZING
Months… 😦I ain’t gonna even say nothing
@@StacyMcCabe you did though. You said something.

it's incredibly comforting to see someone as bad at platforming as i am. i rage at this game so much because i can do pretty good at the bosses, but getting ANYWHERE is so incredibly painful no matter how careful i try to be
How you managed to do all that without ever finding wraiths is absolutely incredible...
I always forget where it is, to the point where I get to the shriek room and think “ah shit where are wraiths again? “ before promptly using the wiki lmao

Man didn’t know he could look down for like the entirety of forgotten crossroads and greenpath
I don't think it's "cheating" to use your chat for hints on how to progress when playing a game. In my experience, most "no backseating" rules are because the player/streamer wants to discover things on their own and/or doesn't want chat telling them what to do. If you're fine with taking hints at certain points, then it's a completely valid way to play the game~

this video is so fun to watch as someone who struggled severely with hollow knight my first time playing it, watching your understanding of mechanics and gradual evolution of game play is really satisfying and was a very needed distraction this weekend for me! ♡
I kinda suck at this game and some playthroughs make me feel discouraged. Seeing you die so much in the begining like I did & the fact that you kept going is really refreshing 😊 it makes me want to play again

Honestly don't think there ever was a 15€ game I enjoyed more than this. HK and Stardew are like the kings of indie games that really deliver way too much fucking content for the measly amount of money you put in.

So excited to watch Therm play this game. I've heard such good things about Hollow Knight, but I'm not skilled enough to play it. I'm incredibly stoked to see it with one of my favourite creators~ Lots of kudos to Peri as well!
Im sure you can become good enough to beat the game with atleast the first ending no matter how bad you are to start.
@@pamelotms5867 - I promise you I’m not. I’d rather enjoy the experience by watching. :)
@@Rikrobat Man, games are just polishing a skill, saying you aren’t good enough to beat a game is like saying you’re not smart enough to learn cooking, or not strong enough to play football.
None of those things just happen, a dude doesn’t just become 200+ pounds of muscle for football by accident, he *works at it*
A chef doesnt come out the womb with a chefs hat and a culinary degree, they learn and practice their craft.
Games, especially games like hollow knight, are exceedingly simple in execution, it is literally harder to ride a bike than play hollow knight, especially at the start.
You have move, jump, attack, and heal. 3 buttons and a stick. Literally Mario with two more buttons.
Do yourself a favour and give it a try, it is very VERY worth the experience, even after watching this video.
@@riplix20 - Something to consider is that us adults have limited time to spread around on hobbies. If I’m going to spend lots of time practising something, I’d rather it be on a game that I’ve been hyped for or improving my personal writing. Hollow Knight is certainly a well-loved game, but it doesn’t mean a non-platformer like myself will take to it, especially if I have to *work at it*, to use your words. I’m not good at these kinds of games, and I don’t always consider it fun to “get good” at them.
@@Rikrobat I'm an adult with a full-time job who didn't grow up playing 2D platformers. (The only platformer I'd played before HK was Braid like 10 years ago. For reference I was in college 10 years ago.) Believe me when I say I struggled with the game A LOT for a while. But it is staggering how quickly you can improve even if you're just playing a couple hours a week. I don't always have the time to play either, but it's less about the hours and more about putting in a little time consistently. It's a really fantastic game and I hope you eventually find the time to try it.

1:31:56 may i just say, i appreciate you being so "normal" about that question
i know like, it should be expected for someone to not be an asshole about it, but still, thanks :)
Bro kills myla then hears her scream “oops…”
"I'm gonna be bad at this game". Yeahhhh, could tell this would be a toughie for you since the first bug you encountered. But I'm at the beginning of the video here with you, and I'm rooting for you.
This was an amazing 3 hours to watch :))
Sadly I can't experience Hollow Knight for the first time again but I love watching other people play it also props to you for editing all this - I love your commentary during streams too
that was incredible to watch, thank you for all the awesome content therm, and for the hard work of Peri the editor and all of the moderators on the streams!!!
I'm surprised you beat the whole game (good ending) without ever finding the howling wraiths spell.
tips for watcher knights:
wait until you have all the upgrades, i had max charm notches, coiled nail and around 8 or 9 mask, made the fight super easy
My good man, the DLC for this game is godlike. Highly recommend
I don't think people realize how much money I would spend to play this for the first time again
im so excited for silksong
So I’ve realised from the intro that team cherry might be feeling a bit pressured by the community to make silksong perfect because everyone loved hollow knight and expects the next one to be way better because they have ✨money✨
This playthough is one of my absolute favourites of your channel and I loved having the stream playbacks just playing in the background. I already know I'm going to love this video and I'm only 5 minutes in. Huge props and a thank you to Peri in advance because the editing in your videos are always amazing :)
You played this game on the keyboard?!
You’re a true hero!
Loved watching all these streams, I was able to make most of them live and caught up on the vods of the rest, and it was so much fun to watch your progress and discover this game with you! Your streams inspired me to play the game myself, and it is so nice to revisit your whole journey in a condensed format :)
Tip for lost kin: defenders crest and any strengthening or health upgrading charms. As the blobs get closer, the smell from defenders crest will kill them so you only have to focus on the main boss
This is an amazing vid, thanks for putting it all together Therm!!
bruv your gigachad mentality at 58:47 and 51:53 toward bosses got you a sub
Stuff like this motivates me. I’ve got my own Hollow Knight video in the works right now, and to see this journey and similar videos to this one, it really makes me just want to get home and keep working on it. Hollow Knight really is a masterpiece
I played Hollow Knight for the first time in December of 2019; since then it's become a yearly tradition to venture back through Hallownest when December comes around. I'm currently doing my 4th annual playthrough and youtube suggested this video to me. Oh man, from the first minute I was hooked haha, you describe the game perfectly in your opening segment I couldn't NOT watch what happens next. The editing and humor in your video are excellent, it flows so well and I laughed out loud more times than I thought I would watching a Hollow Knight playthrough. Your video is going to be a yearly tradition along with my playthrough of the game, so thanks for this, it's incredibly enjoyable and relatable!
31 seconds in and I cannot agree with you more I don’t even know how it changed your life, but it changed mine too and ever since I’ve played it everything has gotten better
I've never been able to get through the game myself, I understand having a challenge but I wish it had accessibility options... so I'm glad there's a video I can see that goes through it
For anyone who wants to experience the game but can't get past the difficulty - there is a mod that makes it easier. All you need is the mod installer, it's called Scarab
You gotta take your time with the game. It’s pretty hard at first but eventually it’ll get easier and more fun
@@SpringonMC I've played the game multiple times and for hours and hours just staying at the first 3 worlds... trust me I've tried hahah
This is an accessibility issue, even if some people can get it not everyone can
@@lazilylapis676 What accessibility options do you want? If you haven’t left the first three “worlds” I’d imagine you’re having trouble exploring? The game is decently non linear but I guess they could add arrows or sumn to point the way of main quest.
If you’re just stuck on bosses or something combat related all I can really say is learn the mechanics of combat, and that aggression is good. If you spend soul attacking you kill stuff way faster, which means you have to heal less, which speeds up the flow considerably compared to backing off to heal every attack.
Games like these don’t typically get difficulties or accessibility options, because the game is made to be hard enough to challenge you but be easy enough to beat and get a sense of *reward* , which making the game easier totally ruins.
I’d recommend putting the time into “getting gud” though, idk how many hours you really have in the game but it took me like 20 hours to get to hornet on my first run, and 2 hours to beat her. I can now do no death runs of the game.
@@riplix20 that's the same argument of "git good".. I understand it's made to be hard, but my argument is games should always have accessibility options like an easier mode for people to be able to also experience it. Because of my disabilities, and for others, it's impossible to play games like this.
Just because there's an option for an easier mode doesn't mean it'll ruin your experience. For those of us who cannot play it, an easier experience is better than not being able to experience it at all.
I’ve got over 100 hours in the game with a 106% steel soul run for true ending and had no idea about that Dung defender scene where he actually talks to you.
1:48:00. Ripping my hair out not seeing them use vengeful spirit against collector 😂😂😂
I found your content through your streams of Hollow Knight and been looking forward to the supercut for a while. Massive props to peri!
Awesome movie Therm. I wouldn't have gotten past the first foe, so you did fantastic!
The goal for stream 4 being just "book therapy" with Lost Kin footage in the background tells me all I need to know
This is the coolest way to present a full playthrough, actually better than 90% of movies
You know, I havnt found many gaming channels that entertain me like you have done with this whole video, and imagine my excitement when I saw your farely frequent upload schedule, definitely will be subbing and continuing to watch your channel
It's always nice to come back and rewatch this video. Therm's playthrough is by far my favourite i've watched and is what convinced me to finally buy the game for myself (it's now become my favourite game of all time so thanks therm lmao) and I couldn't be more thankful. Here's to hoping he plays Silksong when it releases!
I would love to see you play more hollow knight! One thing I saw another streamer do which was really interesting was to react to the lore. The channel Mossbag has a really comprehensive video about it, maybe you could watch it on stream? But it might be a bit much for the channel, not that family-friendly.
This was really cool! I love this game with all my heart, and I'm glad you enjoyed it as well. I'd love to see you do more stuff in the games, especially the Grimm Troupe guest :)
1:59:55 I find it funny that he said he hates using Descending Dark when in that moment the I frames saved him from getting hit.
I dont know if you're looking for a new game but something i think would be amazing to see you play is outer wilds. Its a very unique puzzle/space exploration game. The big thing about it is its much much more sensitive to spoilers than any other game so youd probably have to have a mod be fairly aggressive about stopping people helping you. Idk if that's your kinda think but i think it could be fantastic to see you play that.
I love hollow knight so much and Im excited to watch the entirety of this video
This is a beautifully crafted video on my favorite game of all time! Love the videos dude
It’s kind of wild that I decided to get all the charms and upgrades before facing most of the villains, and this dude beat the game THEN went back for all the upgrades
This is the ideal experience of hollow knight tied into 2 and a half hours. Also props to therm for being such a good comentator and his editor for well.. ❤
