A couple of years ago, The One Chip Challenge by Paqui spread like hellfire as many people tackled the Carolina Reaper tortilla chip. This year, The One Chip Challenge is back and the people at Paqui sent us some of these chips to try. Each of our TRYers tried to last as long as they could before taking any relief of ice-cream, milk etc. Did they survive? Let's find out...

I once made the mistake of telling an owner of a Thai restaurant that I wanted it as spicy and tasty as she could make it. She was probably 70. That spice made me high as I had ever been. It was glorious and terrifying.

This .. was (one of) THE MOSE HORRIFIC experience of my life... When I got home, the chip had reached my stomach which resulted in convulsing on the floor in agony, while puking up water, bawling crying and chewing rennies for hours. I never want to see a Paqui Chip again as long as I live. Huge credit to the lads who didn't reach for the milk, that one minute 11 seconds felt like an hour!
At least you made the effort. I don't think I could and I love spicy stuff.

I've tried a 9 million schoville chilli in my home town and it was the worst thing I have ever done, same reaction as you just from 4 spoonfuls, every hour for 8 hours through the night.

I did this challenge last year, and Justine's experience seems similar to mine. The initial heat spread around my head within about 5 minutes, and then plateaued just below the level of intolerable. After about 10 minutes it was starting to fade and I said, "that wasn't all that bad...." but then it hit my stomach and the real torture began. I never drank any milk, but I probably should have, because my body did indeed reject it. The stomach pain was several orders of magnitude worse than anything in my mouth.
I did this challenge with my two younger brothers. The youngest one had a similar experience at about the same time as me, but he tapped out with milk and ice cream.
The middle brother had eaten a pasta meal before we gathered for the challenge, and he didn't need milk or to vomit.
so the trick is to eat / drink some dairy product before and let it settle...
@@g60force in my limited experience, that seemed to be the factor that separated the men from the vomiting men.
Did the challenge myself, pepto bismol kills the heat almost instantly... but I lasted for 10 minutes before I tapped out!
I had roughly the same experience. I ended up puking up what looked like a giant hair ball.
My Indian coworker from South India coached me that I should make sure every bite of curry should be accompanied by rice. And a lassi (a salty or sweet yogurt drink) should accompany every curry meal. And raita (yogurt with cucumber) was also a good idea too.
That’s a lot of mitigation includes in their meals. We westerners aren’t raised with these foods in this balance.
The real challenge starts on the toilet.

@@KonohazFinest I hate fire shits. That's one of the reasons I avoid spicy foods and eat mild salsa. Still, probably a good idea to keep moist wipes handy just in case.

I did this late last year. The burn for me was strongly in the back of my throat. I thought it was actually causing damage to my throat, which of course it didn't. Around 4 minutes is was okay but 3 hours later I had some stomach cramping which was unpleasant. Surprisingly, no real bathroom issues. One of the hotter commercial challenges I've tried.
I hate to admit this, Colin, but after every hiccup, I laughed hysterically. You're a champ, dude!

I have done this just recently and i can confirm that it does burn very badly but the absolute worse part is not the burn or even the shits afterwards but the absolute chaos that it causes to your stomach as it eats away the lining. I had such intense stomach cramps and pains the whole day

My husband works part time at a bar here on Sint Maarten. (Dinghy Dock) and they sell these. His boss talked us into trying this during the re-opening time of the Covid lockdown. Got the whole thing on video. Husband ate it and beat it...I spat it out after one bite. Funny thing was he went gym after and said his workout was painful for the duration since he could feel it working it's way through. 4 hours later he went to the restroom and there was a muffled "OUCH! SONOVABITCH!" through the door. I was laughing my ass off at him.

Fresh ones are awesome, it's the dried ones and the spices you should look out for.
This chip is literally concentrated spice. Actual homegrown fresh reapers go down comfily (unless you're stupid like me and drank liquor a while after).

As a spicehead myself, the common problem I keep seeing people do is _not eating anything before eating spicy food._ It doesn't even matter what; just get some food in your stomach. Doesn't have to be much, but you can't be full, either. I plan on getting this and doing the challenge with my brother just to see how hilarious he reacts to it. xD

Ooh, a Try challenge with a choice of spicy, nauseating (durian, etc), or high proof would be outstanding. Five or six rounds of that would be the best!
I did 30 minutes and had like half a glass of milk and was fine. The stomach cramps are THE WORST part. It’s also super dry and tastes like garbage.Its definitely a product that could only be marketed as a challenge because it’s gross.
It has activated charcol on it, which gives it its bkack color, and likely shitty smell and, taste. Was the hottest shit ive ever eaten.

A S. The regular chips they make are really good, actually. The ghost pepper ones have quite a bit of heat, tge purple bag is still hot but more tasty.
@@jbird24100 the activated charcoal is so that your stomach doesn't burn. Activated charcoal absorbs toxins and toxic ingredients so once the chip and spices dissolve, the activated charcoal helps you not get poisoned by the spices of the chip, because those spices can probably damage the insides of your stomach lining.
Guys as a heads up. Citrus helps break the oils of the spice. For your relief options for everybody. Oranges or limes are best in my opinion.
Or for additional torture. Chase your spicy snack with peppermint schnapps. Good luck if you do.
