A beautiful reaction to a beautiful song! My dad was the best person I've ever known, and definitely my hero. He's been gone almost 20 years now, but I still miss him terribly. Thanks for your kind words!
Was fortunate to see him play in Brooklyn last week. Holy cow, it was way way better than I had even anticipated. Seems like a very genuine and compassionate human. Now I'm deep in the Sam rabbit hole and it generally involves tissues.
The live version at the Hammersmith Apollo, where he sings it up to heaven... just for his dad.... is one of the most emotional moments on stage I've ever witnessed. ruclips.net/video/wn9qw-KPh2c/видео.html I don't think there was a single dry eye in the house that night. I was there between two other guys, three complete strangers, and all three of us were in tears. I lost my father in 2001, and so many things were left unsaid.
Sam has a live version of this song at Hammersmith apollo 2 week after losing his dad and you will cry your eyes out how he get through the song I don't no how he manages it a must watch ❤
Great heartfelt reaction! I love to do and experience a lot of things but I'm not exactly passionate about them. However I have realized that being a dad/parent has been my true passion and joy! I tear up at this song because of the great love I have for my family and the good relationship I have with my kids. I know that circumstances differ for everyone but still wish they could feel what I feel. Be peace Red!
Never heard this before. You just introduced me to new music. It's very touching. We lost my brother 8 months ago. This song makes me think of him and his kids.
@@redheadedneighbor I appreciate that. There has been a song that is so special during this time. Phil Wickham, hymn of heaven . I wish you would do a reaction. It's a faithful song. @@paulettemcquay4026 i don’t mind that at all. You have to have a backbone and thick skin to put yourself on here. I know the artist. However, I don’t know the song. If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, would you remind me again of this. Maybe a month. The reason I’m asking is that I am particularly still raw from the loss of my niece and I don’t know if my heart can bare it.
Omgosh Deana.... Thanks for the video.... as a 100% single dad, I have spent most of the last 12 or so years exhausted....I knew I was not the perfect parent, but I also made a commitment to myself that if I get to a place where my kids say, my dad wasn't perfect, but he was always there for me....always! It was exhausting at times, but worth every second... and you talk about the importance of fathers... through the years I picked up several surrogate kids :) I knew how important is was to these kids..even the little things like attending a Choir Concert or a BB game... its amazing how many kids have parent that did not attend 1 thing in school for their kids... today all these "kids" are in their 20's and even though I only have 2... I get about 10 happy Fathers days texts or calls...again, worth every minute... even my sons best friend who is 21 still gives me a hug everytime he stops by... and he just used "Dads Garage" this past weekend..... what am amazing song.... it hits... we have all been there... and I think that is also why Oliver Anthony hit so hard... we are all feeling it... Again, thank you for your heart Deana!!
So many parents measure themselves as failures because they aren't perfect and make mistakes, or their kids don't turn out the way they expected, but as long you're there for them. As long you show up, show your kids the ropes. That's all one can really hope for. My dad sucked, he wasn't around much, but he was still there when we needed him the most.
Sometimes it’s not til you are grown that you can see how your parents were not perfect. It doesn’t excuse them but it explains things sometimes. Being there means a lot

when my son had his son, he asked me to take a picture of him & his new baby, then asked me why there weren't hardly any pictures of us together when he & his sister were growing up, I told him I was there as I was the ne who held the camera. ( I had divorced thier mom when they were young & refused to have any women around my kids that wasn't gonna be my wife). Now he is the one who holds the camera.
Thank you for your beautiful, heartfelt reaction. I love this song, and I am okay listening to it but the video always brings me to tears. I lost my dad when I was ten years old; no telling how I could have turned out if I had had a father figure/role model in my life. I learned what being a man is from the culture (in Germany) around me and from questionable male figures. That being said, I thank God, that I didn't grow up in today's confused and upside-down world. At least five decades ago, things were still somewhat decent, respectable, and "normal." @redheadedneighbor anecdotal... but fuck it, I'll share. I was at work one day and things went south. A friend of mine was fucked, we tried to render aid but he was too far gone. I was walking back from the PLA when I seen his son, Gabriel. The kid was probably 7 years old and only a few hundred metres from his dead father. He couldn't see, but he knew. He was standing alone just staring. To this day, I don't know why I didn't kneel down and look that kid in the eye to tell him to be proud of his father. That one still gets me.

Yes we are very important, but today society and feminism is telling everyone we're worthless! It's on repeat and we just keep quiet and put in the work. One day even women will understand our importance, and beside being dads, we build all infrastructure for society!
