    1. Choose hard difficulty for the trophy (you cant change until youve completed the main game) and Pick Varani for the Detect Hidden and Mercantile Boosts. Focus on levelling up Detect Hidden, Mercantile, and Persuasion (so that almost every check is 95%). More treasures = more gold. I suggest universalist class for the skill point buffs but sorcery only is more powerful. Around midgame the jack of all trades is significantly weaker than an all out sorcery class but the skill points and equip requirements lowered is probably worth it for a first time player
    (Optional) Fatewave at the very first opportunity to get your 2 points back from longsword and assassins art to spend somewhere else. If you're playing a stealth character remove it from storm bolt etc. 2 points is a very minor buff but it's a buff nonetheless and you will be fateweaving a lot later anyway
    3. Never fateshift unless it's really needed. Basically save it for the most difficult of scenarios (trolls, niskaru bosses etc). Also pop an exp potion just before you hit the button prompt to end fateshift. On that note save often whether it's before a dispelled chest, or a boss room. One of the great QoL in Kingdoms of Amalur.
    4. Do the alchemy shop sidequest in Gorhart for better sell prices then sell everything you won't use in the special delivery chest. Buy the Gorhart backpack as soon as possible. Junk all items you won't use going forward (even purples and yellows) and stash or carry around any socketed gear you find. Buy all shards, health/Mana Potions, lockpicks, damage potions, and exp potions from shops. You can just repair on an npc if you want but i bought all kits too. When you do get to sell all your junk you will make more gold courtesy of mercantile and detect hidden (which arent useless or optional despite what the video says). Also activate every single lorestone you can find for exp and passive buffs (plus a fun little story while you explore)
    5. Start teeth of naros DLC as early as possible for a primal Staff or Chakram, 10% more damage in reckoning mode, another backpack, and litanies(portable shrine buffs as consumables). Applying primal magic gives all spells a 50% damage boost so it makes sorcery characters even more powerful. In ReReckoning the areas scale to your level so you can go back later for higher levelled primal weapons
    6. Once back in the mainland unlock the house in Canneroc as soon as possible for a stash (storage)
    7. Respec when you have unlocked Ysa and splurge on all the trainers you saw along the way. Do the same at Rathir, Adessa, and Mel Senshir. Make sure you buy the backpacks from all these cities too, and do their respective sidequests to get better shop prices. Don't use trainers of 4-6 and 7-9 before you've used all the 0-3 ones otherwise you'll never be able to use some of them. The only exception to this rule is the lockpicking skil because its entirely useless so missing the trainers is not an issue because lockpicking stays at 0 until you have nothing else to level up. If you're playing universalist you will have all skills maxed later anyway including lockpicking long before you reach max level. Whe doing the 4-6 and 7-9 ones just make sure you are in that level range so don't be level 7 or level 10 respectively. Basically you have to set all your skills around the same level and then fateweave again to what you really want
    8. When you've maxed out Detect Hidden, Mercantile, and Persuasion, put Sagecrafting at 6 and buy any blank socketed gear in the shops or take out the ones from your stash you saved from earlier. Strengthen all shards at a sagecrafting altar until you have all pristine shards and then do utility pristine fire/pristine poison to make damage to lightly wounded targets 20%. Socket these into as many pieces as possible. Now you're mini OP until you can get the truly powerful extremely rare blacksmithing components later on. If you find better gear later on you can unbind your gems at npc which destroys the item in the process (you don't need it anyway), or just wait until sagecrafting 10 to unsocket yourself and get a bit more gold from the now useless gear. If you don't want to wait another 6 levels just respec and max out sagecrafting make your gear then put it all back to how it was before with sagecrafting at 0
    9. Do the factions for twist of fates. Make sure you look up which ones you want during the final quests. Don't worry about being max level for their rewards because once you unlock sagecrafting 6 and some socketed gear their drops don't matter
    10. Once you have Sagecrafting at 10 it's kinda hard between Alchemy and Dispelling because Dispelling continues to give you more loot, but alchemy gives you ability to start Crafting weaker versions of the OP potions. The downside is you need high alchemy to collect reagents otherwise you will almost always see "no reagents found" so like blacksmithing there isn't much you can do with this until you have maxed it and spent hours farming the reagents. Dispelling at 10 basically means you can force almost any dispelled chest even very hard ones. So I would do alchemy afterwards tbh. Last skill should be blacksmithing. Lockpicking can stay at 0

      "then sell everything you won't use in the special delivery chest" HELL NO, the stuff from the chest now scales to your level so it is best to take it out when you have a high level. Good tips though!

    • @nezkeys79
      @nezkeys79 2 года назад +4

      @@DutchGuyMike if you're not going to use something then it's useless. Besides the gameworld gives way better equips than what is in those chests scaled or not so opening that chest at level 50 is ridiculously pointless. It's there to give you a small edge at the start. Those items are quickly replaced even at the start let alone being level 50 and access to all zones. The point of selling them is all the early money you get as well. If you're focusing one build and not trying to hoarde all equips then you shouldn't really have more than two weapon types anyway. As a full sorcery all you need is a chakram and a staff nothing else

    This is one of the few games I feel truly deserves a sequel; it was made by a small group of passionate people at the tops of their fields and that passion really shines through. With better funding and a stipulation of minimal executive oversight, I feel like KoA could be the next big name in fantasy action/RPG's.
    One thing I wish they did better would be tweaking the skills to make them overall more useful. In all my playthroughs blacksmithing, sage rafting, dispelling and detect hidden all became pretty essential fairly quickly, while stealth and lockpicking we're next to worthless. I would like to see more and better high-end gear so I wouldn't feel compelled to kit myself in custom OP armor and weapons, and maybe provide more of an incentive to use stealth-based roleplay so that I couldn't cheese through my rogue playthrough by letting myself get caught and paying a trivial fine.
    Here's a tip: opening up the item radial directly after engaging in reckoning will pause the game, giving you enough time to select the correct button prompt and ensuring a maximum XP boost. Also, it's always helpful to carry a fire weapon in your arsenal for burning through pesky spiderwebs.

      Not only that, but specing into detect hidden early allows you to see all lorestones on your map. Therefore, you get the exp and bonuses from completing the set. I've been playing this game since the demo was first released.

    • @nezkeys79
      @nezkeys79 2 года назад +3

      @@nerdofgames1608 it's essential yeah more essential than blacksmithing early on. Detect Hidden also gives more gold as you explore. Also they said mercantile was useless. Again false because it has incredible synergy with detect hidden to give you even more gold for all the stuff you will find. Dispelling is also useful to add to this for even more loot. Having over a million gold early game means you can buy whatever you want and use all the trainers you want when respeccing (which are expensive at 15k everytime if you have no gold). They're playing the game with universalist anyway (which gives you 27 free points in the end meaning you max out all skills way earlier). In the beginning blacksmithing is useless imo but at the end becomes the best skill. You can't really do anything with it even if you get 10 blacksmithing first because you still need the good components which are rare. You can however quite easily make pristine shards with sagecrafting 6 and socket them into gear instead to make more powerful gear than what you can find. Basically 20% lightly wounded x2 on everything for 140% lightly wounded

      @@nerdofgames1608 good thing is once you have more gold than you can use (15 million for example) you can put mercantile back to 3/4 (where it will be if you got the trainers and skill book. I started with varani because they have detect hidden and mercantile boosts at the start. Lockpicking +2 is useless but varani get better skills distribution overall imo for starting out. At the end of the game when you don't need mercantile and lockpicking though it will be almain for the +2 blacksmithing probably.

    Replaying the game, just saw this vid up on my recommended. A tip I would suggest while playing with gamepad. While ending reckoning mode, just mash all the buttons xyab etc at the same time before the prompt even comes up, that way you get a head start and then you can switch to the right button when you realize what it is. There's no penalty for hitting the wrong buttons.
    Hope to see you playing the next installment coming up. It might be the expansion or maybe a new game. I guess we'll find out on the 17th of september.

      The sad thing is the stuff you really want to make the op gear has to be abused through a craft+salvage bug. Basically damaging rivets/bindings/grips. If you make a gear with one of these components and then salvage it you get a chance to receive two or 3 back, although it's rare because most of the time you only get one back.

    Tip #2 (from me lol): In both the PS3 & PS4 versions there exist a mechanic known as LOOT Manipulation. Before entering a dungeon or a house or hidden areas, save your game...then if you didn't get what you wanted from the treasure chest or enemy drops, simply, reload your save and attempt the same area again. This can sometimes be a little taxing and aggravating, but it will be worth it to get some "epic loot". (Epic loot is usually referenced toward gear sets & purple gear). Happy treasure hunting!😉

    • @nezkeys79
      @nezkeys79 2 года назад +1

      Doing this for every dungeon is a bit over the top, even for someone replaying the game. Most dungeons probably have 20+ chests. To replay all of the dungeon progress just to reset the chests is pointless.
      You're right about loot manipulation but doing it like this isn't really the best way. It's better to just save in the room before a boss a series of elite enemies

    • @nerdofgames1608
      @nerdofgames1608 2 года назад

      @@nezkeys79 True. That's exactly why I said it can be a bit taxing. There are only a few different places, in the game, in which I will do it but that is bc I know what possible gear will actually drop in these places and they happen to be a few of my favorite kinds. But, yea, before a boss is definitely more intuitive.

    5:55 this is subjective
    Personally blacksmithing early is a waste of points. Mercantile is far more useful because gold is always useful. The combo of mercantile + detect hidden + dispelling means you are getting more loot all the timr as you progress, and then sell them for more as well, plus buy cheaper. You even said it yourself "if you have the right components". Thats the thing...getting the op components in blacksmithing is rare and whatever you make will absolutely not be better than stuff you find from quests, shops, or loot. You still need gold to buy the components or loot to break down (which detect hidden and dispelling gives more of). Lockpicking I agree is useless because of how easy the minigame is even on very hard locks with 0 lockpicking
    Blacksmithing IS op but only at the very end of the game when you have 10 blacksmithing, prismere/ebony drops and flawless components(which dont drop until way into the level 40s). Theye also extremely rare and the only real way to farm them is save scumming a salavging bug. This obviously requires a lot of reloads and luck. Until then sagecrafting is far better
    About alchemy...fate potions use essence of fate which you won't get much unless you fateshit all the time (which as you pointed out is bad because you want to save it for the encounters you can beat). potions are powerful yes but if you have enough gold you can just buy the most powerful ones from shops that you won't be able to make yet (like damage boosts magic amplification etc). A minor squabble about alchemy is that exp potions require prismere dust which you only get from the final region of the game. You also need a very high alchemy skill to stop seeing the "no reagents harvested" message.
    Persuasion is also useful to get certain loot or avoid difficult encounters, or save yourself an extra trip somewhere else
    Useful Early:
    Detect Hidden (more gold + more treasure = more gold)
    Mercantile (more gold)
    Persuasion (more gold)
    Dispelling (more gold)
    Stealth (if playing finesse only class or finesse hybrid)
    Useful Later:
    Sagecrafting (mid-late game, after passing mel senshir)
    Blacksmithing (extreme late game)
    Alchemy (mid-late game craft a bunch of damage potions and magic amplification potions)
    Useless:
    Lockpicking (the mini game is too easy even on very hard locks with 0 lockpicking)
    Stealth (if playing full might or full sorcery)

      Depends how much your health regenerates I guess with crafted gear. Trolls/Niskaru can one shot mages so health regeneration is pointless. If you have might gear that's already tanky and can regen off their hits then obviously yes

      @@nezkeys79 yeah, I'm 100% might level 40 and 4 times 2% of regeneration a second, I'm practically Invincible 😅. But this week I died for the first time to my surprise, killed by the King of the stone giants in the Naratos dlc.
