"Guys, we have a problem." "What kind of problem Mal?" "I don't think the ships gonna make it. The aft half of the ship is fire, the doors are jammed, the med bay and a few other rooms are completely deoxygenated, the engines are down, teleporter's down, weapons and shields are running on reserve power. I don't think I can bring you guys back and even if I could, there's a hull breach three feet wide in the teleporter room. I'm sorry." "Mallot, is there anything in the ship that isn't broken?" "Yeah, the pike beam is fully charged and ready to fire." "Do it. If we let this thing jump it's gonna wipe out the federation fleet." "Come on Mallot, we knew we probably weren't gonna make it back from this." "Alright. Firing pike beam. Goodbye guys. I won't be far behind." Malloy slumped in his seat as he watched the debris of the rebel flagship drift across the void. He thought about his crew, the memories he had serving with them before the rebellion and of those they had rescued after. He thought about how they had named the Jolly Cup of Tea as a joke, to see if anyone at command actually read the reports they sent in. He laughed as he remembered that it had taken six months before anyone noticed the odd name and how it had been a clerk who pointed it out to a visiting admiral. He was shaken from his memories by an alarm. He checked the instrument display. Reactor breach. The automated safety measures had already failed. He sat back in his chair and patted the control panel. "Come on Jolly. We did our job. Time to meet the crew."
Nice* Cup of Tea. Besides that, good stuff. I feel like there should be a subreddit or something for adapting recorded FTL footage into stories. This specific ship could probably make for a good short story.
Malott did a good job keeping the ship running, but I doubt he could have held out much longer. He would need an almost immediate evac bye a federation boarding craft or land in a carrier some time in the not so distant future. Great victory man. You did an excelent job. ;)
Oh my gosh, the number of times you during the flagship fight you didn't have your shields fully powered nearly drove me insane! Also, not even your poor Engi who was on the ship that didn't explode would have survived that - there was no way he had the health to put out the fires and the oxygen, engines and doors were all broken or about to be, so there was no way for him to escape. RIP crew of the Nice Cup of Tea.
I would like to think that a Federation ship managed to save Malott before the Nice Cup of Tea fell apart, and that Malott went on to lead the galaxy into a new Golden Age of peace and prosperity.
Holy cow, that was intense. I've never been so stressed watching someone else play a game before. Also, HOW DID YOU DO THAT? I can't even beat this game on normal, and you tore through that flagship like a Belgian through a waffle. Good show, Jon.
Oh god, the weapons aren't isolated for the flagship on hard mode?? Well, that kills my favorite strategy. Actually, I think thats my only strategy, outside of when I've been able to use a Vulcan to just pound the flagship into submission. Wow! That was an awesome video. 1 person left alive (barely), your ship in shambles, and you pulled it off! Bravo to you, sir! If I could like this video multiple times, I would.
You know, it reminded me of my first victory. The Epsilon. It was on the verge of destruction, and the crew was barely alive. But they pushed onwards, and with the few drones left and Ion Cannons they saw the destruction of the flagship. All of them. Especially the veteran of the crew, Stephen Eckman who had worked on every end of the ship 'till he knew the in's and out's.
What I love / Hate most about FTL. It's really the luck of the draw with the game. You ended up getting some amazing items. My luck is often "Hey here is the same weapon that we offered you the last 15 times."
It's alright Jon, the Teleport room was Completely deoxygenated and it was broken so there was no way that you could even fix the teleport room even if you wanted to
It was a victory... But it could have gone a LOT easier. A lot of times you had your shields not fully powered, same for your engines, and you could get energy for these systems on key moments from hacking, teleporter and oxygen. There were a lot of times you could use your ion weapons to unpower the enemy shields and beam it, and you could even use your ion bomb to disable the missile launcher, since you were so worried about it (remeber the ion bomb doesn't stun your crew). But the worst mistake was not using your hacking drone for most of the fight... But it was interesting to watch
Nice victory! if you look on the achievements page, you see that there are 3 of them that are challenge (no store, no upgrade and pacifist run) you can try to get them
Now that you think that your victory came at the loss of all your friends. Was it really worth it? Are you any different than the Rebels? LOL Congratulations on your victory. This game is extremely hard. BTW, there's actually a way to "save" the game on PC, it's just the save and quit, then take the continue.sav(not sure of the name) from the documents folder and copy it to another folder. If you die, you take it back to the first folder and continue.
I know. But it's a good way if someone just wants to see an ending. I don't normally go to forums, because most of the time people are just arguing about random things.
Also, Malott would survive, engines aren't offline and he's one jump away from the base (maybe at the base). He'd have to move quick but he'd get there I think. The ship would be gutted but if you got it back to base It's reparable
You sacrificed your crew, yet if you didn't, you might not have won, so it's a trade, all your crew dead minus one alive, or everyone in the federation dying.
+infernox1099 Plus the last guy had a good chance of dying anyway. The ship was half on fire, half depressurized, the door control was broken and on fire, and the medbay was broken, depressurized, and breached. Life support had almost failed already, and engines were burning.

this is exactly what i needed to read
this just topped the video series. well done.
Damn im happy I could read that
lol, i like how the engi he picks up at the end of the adventure is the only survivor.
who else was screaming "hack the sodding shields!"
This is one of those games that is hard to watch other people play. The clench is real.
Nice win, that ship is epic.
RIP Many a True Crew. They heroically let themselves get blown up for the good of the war. There has never been a more heroic crew...
You missed the opportunity to say "Many A Crew Nerd".
Malott did a good job keeping the ship running, but I doubt he could have held out much longer.

The horrors of war. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten

That was amazing. Such heroism. Such sacrifice. The galaxy shall never forget the brave crew of the Nice Cup of Tea who gave their lives for us all.

Wonder what would happen if you had all your crew on the flagship, then blew it up.
A victory i guess cause....the your ships Ai system...
Tanju132 Debatable, because if you lose all your crew members before the flagship you still get a game over.
You know, it reminded me of my first victory.

"do I even need to waste drones on him?"
You have 29 drone parts, I don't think it matters that much

Nice Cup of Tea = Rogue One....and yes I was was screaming use your HACKING!!! lol well done sir that is no easy task and stressful as hell.
That ending was so great.
High general John his ships crew. May they rest well and may there bodys be secured. We will miss the crew. Such a epic final fight
Worst victory ever! Love it.
Moments later, your own ship blew apart at the seams, but the Federation left a nice plaque in space in your honor.
Man, that was a powerful ending. Man, I'm not sure I can manage these feels.
29:20 three power but not powering the shields aaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Holy crap I can't believe I watched it all! All four parts! Cheers John I enjoyed that!
Broh, you forgot about that Zoltan shield bypass thingie...
wow Jon... that was dark!
Love the reaction to hard mode flagship.
Whoa, that was an amazing, very lucky and very enjoyable run! :)
the missles and lasers are only connected on hard mode
Congratulations to Malott who won the game all by himself!
Whew! That was as intense as it gets.
Nice victory!

It's called save scumming in the roguelike communities, and it's generally frowned upon, because it's not how the games are supposed to be played.
I know. But it's a good way if someone just wants to see an ending. I don't normally go to forums, because most of the time people are just arguing about random things.
Don't feel too bad, that's what they signed up for, tough decision.
Such a epic ending to the run!
Chris avellon helped with this game!
I'm curious. At 10:00, could you have unpowered your teleporter and used the extra energy to power another layer of shields?
No as the power was coming from a zoltan crew member whos passive powers the room they stand in.
Mallot went on to receive be commended several times and retired died 3708
(Not sure when ftl takes place just assuming)
Kamikaze tactics. BANZAI!
Wow ... I didn't thought you would make it ! Good job !
Of all the things i kinda felt sad for the zoltan that didnt stay in weapons room in the final fight, that recharge time wasted ^^
The credits should count all the crew that were present upon entering sector 8.
you lucky bastard
well played, I enjoyed this
I know I’m 7 years behind the curve, but they knew what they were signing up for
Do you plan on continuing your FTL series?
It was great fun watching; it would be a shame if you were to not continue it.
They were noble deaths...
Malott last member of the "nice cub of tea"
I love your videos so much!

The ship would be gutted but if you got it back to base It's reparable
nooooob hah sorry but i literally screamed when you didn't realize the doors have changed
This was quite an achievement!
This is basically Rogue One in a video game
It's always a great job pulling out a win in this game out but man you made so many inefficient decisions it's killing me. Pulled through though!
One survivor. One.

What an ending!
FTL advanced easy mode, no pausing? Maybe?
RIP Fenn
♪♪ Before phase two get's reeling. The crew needs some healing, needs some healing. Baby (Loose "Sexual healing" interpretation)

+contown731 no no no no no thats possible beating hard mode advanced captains edition is impossible
Beating captains edition is impossible. Unless you get incredibly lucky always, the RNG is insane.
shouldve teleported your crew out before blowing up the flagship
+Justin Brown he couldn't, his teleporter was destroyed and on fire
+Justin Brown he couldnt, not likely anyways, the teleport room was breached and without oygen.
he add the zoltan shield bypass
Wow.
