Astrill VPN is one of the few who work in China, but they don’t offer software for M1 Mac and iOS 13, so no way. Finally, with your solution I was able to use an old Android phone as router and send traffic through the VPN working on that phone. Super happy. This absolutely saved my day - thank you so much!

Yes it should work but in pc only, not in your phone
It may not work with every vpn, at least with their default settings. For me it worked with Adguard vpn, didn't with Notvpn
