I want you to know how important your work is. This stuff would be forgotten and It simply isn't taught in today's day and age, but you help preserve and spread this knowledge. You are awesome man
I dropped my impact driver off a scaffold today and about ten feet down into an inaccessible escalator opening. After fishing it out with a hook fashioned from wire taped to the end of a section of pipe, my foreman impressed upon me the need for a tool lanyard. I attached a carabiner to this design, to clip to my tool bags, and can use the cinch end around the grip of whatever power tool I need to use. Thanks from this apprentice in Southern California Glaziers Local 636!
I'm a total rookie when it comes to paracord and I was able to make this lanyard in 20-30 minutes using this video! Great teaching. Thanks for the video.
I bet you could use a broader cord or band, and use the same knot as decoration on the stick as well, passing the stick through the middle, instead of the cord.
My dad bought me the original leatherman for Christmas 28 years ago!! Still carry it today and have all but a few days in these 28 years ...in the original leather sheath....but the sheath is almost torn through..may have to break down and upgrade....I've been looking at the Wave plus...
My dad looses his letterman all the time so he buys a new one and I will usually find the lost letherman and keep it. He is totally fine with this because I don’t loose mine so when ever he has one lost he just asks to use mine
Excellent. I see an application for the single hand carry of my camera. The instructions look very clear. Thanks and have subscribed Cheers from Australia.
Celtic knots are pretty, but you can use double fisherman`s knot as all three knots and it will work the same. Thanks for the idea. Just checked it out and it is pretty handy)
I realized as I was watching that I knew that knot by a different name (single-strand diamond knot). The classics have lots of aliases. Cool arrangement; I think I'll use finer cord to make one for a pen that has a lanyard loop instead of a clip. And possibly substitute a fixed loop for the attachment point.
I got my Dad a Rovyvon flashlishght that you showed off some videos ago that I plan to give for Father's Day. I'm planning on making a mini lanyard/keychain for it but wanted another larger one that he could use for a mini knife I want to give him also, and for his keys . Perfect timing, thanks!
Ideal to go with a little pouch I am making to keep USB keys and a datablocker. Might be good for going with an Emergency USB charger putting together that uses 9V batteries too!
I'll give this one a try next time I want a lanyard that isn't hitched on. The little Victorinox Pioneer is most excellent, too; I recently acquired a silver one.
Sailors, ranchers, farmers, riggers, butchers, carpenters, weavers, millers - knots and cordage were common tools, back in the day. And they were everywhere. You're right that sailors, and maybe ranch hands, had the most time for creating fancywork knots and opportunity to trade them.
So funny story, I bought a fid on Amazon thinking that it was going to be like the one you used here but what arrived was like a snow shovel. A fid for basically splicing shipping ropes lol 🤣
LOL! It's ok that's happened to many people, I'm sure. At least you didn't order a pair of pants to have it turn out to be pants for an action figure! Haha
This is going to take awhile to learn it's a tough one great video thanks, went to see your Amazon store your knotting tool alot more expensive than the rest on amazon wow
Good morning and thank you for the video. Going to try this one for one of my Swiss army knives. Wondering about your fid bit and where i could get one like that? I have 2 smaller ones but that one in the video was really cool! Thank you and have a good day
I liked the lanyard loop, but I don't want it permanently on my tool of choice. I want to choose to use a different tool. Therefore I need to attach a small Niteeyez carabiner to the end of my cord and switch tools.😊
If you made this I haven’t found it. Do you have a video where the adjustability is on both sides? Kind of like two button knots with each knot gripping the other side of the loop. To adjust the loop to the smallest diameter pull the knots together and to the largest diameter the knots would be pulled apart until they touched the other way.
I'd loop the paracord through the lanyard hole and pass the lanyard through that loop, so I could easily take it off and use the same lanyard on my other knives and tools.
yes please i love the cute little knots but these functional videos feel like not a waste of cord for someone like me who doesnt camp or need to save miles of cord in bracelets or ornamental knots :D love all your content dont get me wrong.
Excellent video...I can't for the life of me understand the down votes. I think you should be required to type an explanation before you can down-vote a video.
Thank you for the comment! That would be an effective measure as people would be too lazy to write an explanation and then not even bother disliking. But it's fine, dislikes are just part of the RUclips game.
That was exactly my thoughts ! Got loads of chopsticks around …but no fid 😕 . This was a realllly cool video! Blows my mind how people come up with knots like this.

Glad it helped!
This just what I was looking for. I’ve begun making walking/hiking sticks and this system is perfect for securing the stick. Thanks a lot!

I swear literally everyone has the Leatherman wave. My dad gave me mine when I was 12 and I've had it for over a decade now.

Nice timing for the video. My grandson just got his first multi-tool and he needs a lanyard on it.
Perfect!
I’m a simple guy and generally use simpler knots, but this is pretty cool.
Very cool, thanks!! Not sure what I'm attaching it to yet, so many options...
Celtic knots are pretty, but you can use double fisherman`s knot as all three knots and it will work the same. Thanks for the idea. Just checked it out and it is pretty handy)
You instructions are the best! I've learned so much from your page. Thanks!
That's a useful idea! I will make this lanyard for my knife :D
Me too! Though I suspect I will be pausing and rewinding "quite a lot" ;-)
Thanks to your video I'm just finding out about my Leatherman wave feature I didn't know about. Your sure are something else... Thanks 🙏🏽
Easily to follow . Very precise instructions.👍👍👍

this is great! I'll be creating a lot of these now :) thank you
ahhh i love living free world stuff.
Excellent video I’m goin to try this out
Thanks for the tutorial buddy
I’m gonna try this for a ferro rod.
I'll give this one a try next time I want a lanyard that isn't hitched on. The little Victorinox Pioneer is most excellent, too; I recently acquired a silver one.
Nice tutorial, thank you
Once upon a time, a bunch of people just sat down and worked out all these knots and how to use them. Blows my mind
Truly amazing right? If you're not aware of the Ashley Book Of Knots yet, it's essentially the bible of knots that started it all more or less.
Sailors passed the time on voyages developing useful knots.
Sailors, ranchers, farmers, riggers, butchers, carpenters, weavers, millers - knots and cordage were common tools, back in the day. And they were everywhere. You're right that sailors, and maybe ranch hands, had the most time for creating fancywork knots and opportunity to trade them.
Simple, functional, it's great. Thanks.
You're welcome!

Try using a 5.56 or .17 round as a fid. Works well.
This is on my $300 dollar knife definitely not losing it
The lanyard may help retrieving the tool from shallow water. Bright colors will help.
I am having issues tying the button knots. I will look for a video on that.
Thanks for the new video!

Super, definitely will use, thanks! Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
3:40 can the melty end slip out from the knot?
Great video! Thank you for creating it!

Nice! I recently made one, and put a perforated dice in the middle! Cheers from Argentina!
I believe I saw this in Stormdrane's blog!
Yes! That's what inspired this video. Stormdrane is a true OG of paracord!
A non tightening version for a hatchet would be good please
We called these things "Dummy Cords" back in the day.
Called them idiot cords in the Army.
I did it!😊😅
I liked the lanyard loop, but I don't want it permanently on my tool of choice. I want to choose to use a different tool. Therefore I need to attach a small Niteeyez carabiner to the end of my cord and switch tools.😊
Like all ur tutorials 😍😍
Great video, I end up with a rope longer than the other when I serve around my wrist!!!
great explanation, thx a lot!
Exelente,un saludo desde Argentina

Hi! Fantastic. One question. What is the name of the tool you use to open/expand the holes on nuts????
It's called a fid. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fid
Can you post a link to the brass find you’re using at 2:12? Thx.
very useful thank you.
Wait....it tightens whoa!
What tools you using on your video?
Thks for video ..👍
Gracias
What is the name of that particular fid you are using and where can I get something like that?
What is the small prybar at 4:48? TIA
Ey thank you
I'd loop the paracord through the lanyard hole and pass the lanyard through that loop, so I could easily take it off and use the same lanyard on my other knives and tools.

Hey man really cool
I was wondering if you could do a paracord guitar strap tutorial
Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
WOEP: What is the name of the tool that was used at 2:06 and where can I buy one?
No idea, but I'm curious also...
It's called a Swedish fid. He replied to another question with where he got his.
Wouldn't be easy just do the first knot after de 2nd one?
Nice Swedish fid. Did you make it?
Thanks and I wish I was that talented! The Swedish fid was made by dragonspikes. You can find them on instagram and facebook.
Won me as a subscriber
Thanks for subscribing Joe!

4 feet is 183 centimetres??
Couple feet off there I think
Mistake I made from the last video that used the same amount of cord, but I forgot to correct it in this video. D'oh!
183 cm is 4 ft in America?Wow.
No, I made a mistake in the edit. 4 ft is about 122 cm.
4 ft is about 122 cm not 183...
You're correct, it's a mistake I forgot to correct in the edit.
👌
I absolutely do not have the patience for this button knot! I hate it!!!
Wait…my Wave has a hidden loop?!?!!!??
couldnt get it to work for the life of me. I gave up
When working on a ladder, don't attach a lanyard to your wrist. A painful injury will result if a fall occurs.
0:35 4’ ain’t 184 cm
d.i.y. Wiimote strap
That was easy!
I can do it with my eyes closed.
Standing on one foot.
By the way, lanyard looks too thick and bulky for this kind of knife.
👍
Im still gonna lose it
💝
🔥💕👍
If you don't have a fid you can use chopsticks
That was exactly my thoughts ! Got loads of chopsticks around …but no fid 😕 . This was a realllly cool video! Blows my mind how people come up with knots like this.
@@berniecelee5062 idk, I figured knots are made by looping rope till something cool happens

What's that stupid bird shaped thing with 3 1/2 bottle openers in the beginning?

4 ft is 122cm mate. I am 6 ft tall, 183 cm…..
Seriously unnecessarily complex way of tying a piece of string to a knife
I feel sleep. You said easy and fast .🤬
too fast
