I only like the flashback scenes in Zuko alone the rest was boring idk why it’s everybody’s fav expect for the fact it’s mostly about Zuko which in that case I understand lol Aang and Zuko are my baby daddies
To be fair, Zuko probably doesn’t know that Katara can heal. She just said I can help not I can heal him. Also, like Iroh said, Zuko has trouble letting people help him.
Oh sure! I get he’s in his feelings but it’s a sliiiiight nod to his emotions getting in the way of him helping his loved ones and himself! Good writing all around!!
I love how when aang is floating on the air scooter, Azula and Zuko's response says something about their character. Azula is surprised and off balance but quickly recovers, but Zuko runs straight in and doesn't even have time to register he's fucked up before it's too late. Also fun fact the elements actually map on to the seasons in the order of the avatar cycle. Winter is water, spring is earth, summer is fire, and air is fall. This also applies to the books of the show, we start the show in book 1 water during winter, aang has already mastered airbending so it's after fall, then we transition into book 2 earth and now it's spring which is mentioned by aang when he talks about appa shedding. You can also see the change of season with Katara and Sokka no longer wearing long sleeves because it's warmer now. Also by starting with water (winter) it matches the song Iroh sings in at the end of book 1: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, Four Seasons, Four Loves.
Absolutely!!!! Zuko’s just rage running though the door and nearly KOing himself is a huge character beat! Same with Zula’s surprise and then course correct.
@@sirmoonslosthismind That makes sense for this interpretation too though. Aang had yet to learn waterbending by then so he was still in the time of Air.
@@sirmoonslosthismind Actually, historically the winter solstice was in the middle of the season at some point, not in the beginning. So it did start in winter.
Fun fact about the martial arts and fight scenes. They had advisors who performed in front of a camera and the animators would animate the fights to the videos. So the movements you see in every fight and stance are all from real people. Tophs fighting style is based off of southern praying mantis kung fu. They had an advisor tell them how she should stand, how her hands should move, etc. The creators and all the animators went all out.
I think most people don't notice why Azula targeted Iroh. Iroh didn't know Toph was travelling with the Avatar, and so looked over to them when he made the realization. At that moment, he was less likely to deflect a fire blast.
It really shows just how perceptive and calculated Azula is. Iroh didn't even turn his head. All he did was shift his eyes to the side for a second. It was such a tiny opening, and she took advantage of it.
Definitely a heartwarming moment when toph & iroh were speaking together. They were the pairing no one would really think of but LOVED when they saw it happen. Even though this is just a show their little conversation is something i always try to remember when i'm having a hard time. 🥺
YES! My day is saved! Just came home from work, I feel like absolute crap and I never want to leave the house again. This is at least giving me back some joy.
“The stars sure are nice tonight. Too bad you can’t see them Toph!”......probably the harshest joke in the series. She meant because she earthbended a tent over her, but it totally came off as a blind joke! Lol
Was gonna say, my initial thought was Katara was making a jab that Toph was sleeping in a tent, it didn't occur to me that it could also be a blind joke, haha.
This is actually my favorite episode from the first half of this season. Azula showing off her strength and intelligence and the gang coming up together to fight. And by the way, even cornered, Azula still kicks ass.
W/ regards to the conversation about accepting help, as someone who's always had issues accepting help, one of the best things I ever heard was the notion that the person giving the help is probably so excited because it feels good to help someone out. Think about it. anytime you get a chance to help someone, whether it on a school environment, in the office, out in the streets, because you're in a position to help, it feels amazing. You never really feel put upon. It's nice to feel needed, so let people help, trust me they love it.

That definitely was the first time in the show when benders for each element all acted as one to launch a united attack. First time I saw it, I shouted, "GO GO POWER RANGERS!"
When Katara said that Toph couldn't see the stars I legitimately think she meant that she was sleeping in her earth tent alone, not because of her blindness. They always forget Toph is indeed blind in the show, I dont think Katara would go that far.
That part where Toph forgets to count Sokka in the fight is classic. Every time Sokka gears up to fight, I’m just like “Why don’t you sit this one out, chief?” 😂
to be fair, "this show keeps getting better" could be the title for literally all of your ATLA reactions LOL the stakes and the quality just keep getting amped up week after week. incredible animation, brilliant writing and character growth, it's why so many of us return to the show again and again i'm so happy you get to watch this for the first time, ESPECIALLY during the times we're in now. i feel like a lot of us take our good fortune for granted, and this show can really put everything into perspective with many great lessons i'm also glad you're not seeing too many spoilers. you're right, it's a sacred space for us longtime fans. we'd never want to ruin that for you

Ty Lee more so than mai, but both their relationships with Azula are built of off fear. That's what Azula was doing when she set the net on fire. Manipulating Ty Lee with fear and forcing her. That's why Ty lee is still there.
Yeah, I think Mai is fine to go along with it until it inconveniences her while Ty Lee seems to be a rather peaceful person who has to be manipulated into violence.
fun fact actually really sad fact they weren't going to use toph as aang teacher they were planning on using the earthbending guy in the intro so sean who do you like more toph or the guy in the intro ask the ddrase who they like more want to know.

Man another masterpiece by Sean TankTop. This reaction was fcking awesome 👌 I've already said, you guys are going to love this season, for me it's the one with the best plot.
Something important to know for an upcoming episode in the future is that when the sentence: „In honor of Mako“ shows up onscreen it is in honor of the voiceactor of Iroh, who died from cancer (i think) during the production of this season... in Book 3 another actor voices Iroh and doesnt get That many lines because of Makos death
Has people ever thought about if Toph hadn't bumped into Iroh, she would have never come back with the Gaang, or at least maybe joined them in a later episode. I got the feeling that no matter what the Gaang would say to her if they ever managed to find her before she met Iroh, she wouldn't listen and that she'd rather just go on her own, taking care of her own. Especially if Katara and Sokka would say something about responsibility over teaching Aang earthbending or something. Would probably piss her off too lol. Meeting Iroh helped her understand something, especially about being part of a team.
