Hey Matt, are the settings you're commenting on here available on a Marantz receiver ?
I've seen the room size adjustments in IMAX and AURO3D settings only.

So I have a Trinnov Altitude and Perlisten R15's; I got a bit confused there when you realized the settings were incorrect. Am I understanding you correct, Small for the MOST extension, LEAST output; Big Room for LESS extension and MOST output? THX ignore cause it sucks.. MY room is 18Lx13Wx10H

To your knowledge do IMAX releases like you see in museums use filtering of the subs? They seem very dynamic.

I like your videos and watching pretty much every single one immediatelly they show up on youtube. But please, do a research and basic scripting before answering people's questions instead of doing them on the fly and making all kinds of errors. People want to learn something, but this way you're just doing confusion instead :( Thanks million

Simply not worth his time financialy. You want him to prep, hire him for consulting.

@@poleepwka It is very sad if that is the case. If it is not worth someone's time to answer properly, then don't answer at all, it will save even more time and money, right? And is it worth our time to watch in that case, after all? I hope it is not the case.

@@IvanToman he did answer properly. He did make a mistake, which he corrected. I would rather have his unscripted answers, than no answers at all.

Interestingly Meyer sound do actually have a "VLFC" "Very Low Frequency Control Element" infrasonic *ported* subwoofer.
While it's hard to get a big dubbing stage or commercial cinema to dig down to 20hz, it's significantly easier in smaller rooms using studio monitor systems for various other parts of the audio pipeline. There's no way the guys who did the intro to edge of tommorow or bladerunner 2049 didn't know there was a ton of infrasonics!

Hi Matthew, thanks as always for your insight. I currently have two Rel HT1510 15” subwoofers that I currently run off an Anthem MRX720 AV receiver. Rel often discusses their version of HT 3D bass which they reference as a setup with inspiration from Ray Dolby in his principles of having all channels in a theater be able to reproduce 20Hz to 20Khz. John Hunter of Rel discusses this as adding subs to each bed layer speaker. In its simplest form he says you can achieve this with a minimum of three subs. One sub for the front mains using both LFE and their high level connection, one sub for the rear channels again using LFE and high level connections and then one sub for the center channel only using the high level connection from the center speaker to the sub. They want the receiver or processor set to large and to use the subs crossovers and levels to blend the subs. The Rel’s have both separate inputs for LFE and high level and independent volume controls. This to me seems very complicated and from watching your videos seems like a lot of unnecessary work. I understand the concept Rel is trying to achieve but it seems there’s easier ways to achieve good bass management. What are your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    James G.

If you search his video "Pro vs. Consumer BASS Management. Which is right for you?" Matt has covered pretty much this exact topic!

ported vs sealed subs is just such a stupid thing. the driver u use decides if its best used in a ported or a sealed box.
there is no better, for home cinema u want output down to 20hz. most subs that work very well down to 20hz are designed to work best with a ported box.
doesnt mean there are none with sealed cases but one have to keep in mind that the lower octaves are very difficult for every driver since even just the lowest octave, 20 - 40hz means that the wavelength changes from 17meters ( 51 feet roughly ) to 8.5 meters ( 25.5 feet rougly ) quite a big diffrence in wavelength for one system to cover already.
but most use one system for 20-120hz, meaning wavelength diffrence is from 51 feet to 9.5 feet. and last time i checked a wavelength isnt just in one dimension. so the diffrence is from the size of a house to the size of a small toilet room.
