Love this camera. It’s the only one that’s 100% secure as it only uses HomeKit and not any Eve or other software. Just that peace of mind makes it worth the price. Plus it’s quite discreet.
Is it just me, or is Picture in Picture mode available on the iPhone only and not the Apple TV. This is strange. Would be great to keep camera on screen whilst watching a TV show.
Great review. Could you please advise what images are like when the camera is positioned to look through a window (I do appreciate that night vision would have to be turned off to avoid reflections). Edit: just seen this on Eve’s website ... “ Keep in mind, though, that while the infrared motion sensor can "see" in the dark, it can’t see through glass. So if there’s a glass door to your front porch or there’s a window looking out to your patio or yard, Eve Cam won’t detect any motion behind them. ”
@@HomeKitAuthority Did you see the edit in my original post? Motion is detected using IR, which doesn't work through glass. So kills my idea of using this camera behind glass unfortunately.
Hello, I have just watched your review of the Eve cam and I am seriously thinking of purchasing it. However, I need to know how the camera recovers from a temporary power outage. For example, if we’re on vacation in another part of the world and our home experiences a temporary power outage and the Eve camera can’t re-establish a connection to the Home app without a reset then we would have a problem. I’ve read reviews of the Logitech Circle View which indicate it needs to be reset after a power outage. I look forward to your response. Thank you.
Great video! Just wondering with other HomeKit Secure Video enabled cameras like Logitech, Eufy - do they allow you to use the cameras with only HomeKit Secure video and not their own apps? Or can you only do that with Eve Cam?
This is a hard choice. I like the Eve Cam motion audit features, but its on the pricey side. I have not had chance to form a view on the g2H yet. But the Eufy indoor cams cannot be ignored for the price
HomeKit Authority i think i will predominantly be relying on apple’s home app. i saw a few other reviews of the aqara g2h and between aqara and eufy, i’d go for eufy (if they’d iron out the issues like 2-way comm, etc. u mentioned in your previous video) with motion tracking. Then, between eufy (again if they fix all the issues) and eve, i think it will still be eufy for the features eufy has that eve doesn’t and the big gulf in price point.
Sounds expensive. Of course, there's no price on privacy but it's the only thing going for this camera. Plus privacy is invisible until they are caught. Who really knows... At least I can see my money NOT going out the window on this one.
Good video Jon. I love that it works with 5 GHZ and that it works with HSV but it is a bit pricey. Love the 100% b-roll / voice-over video.
Thank you Eric! Yes its a little pricey given other cameras that are coming out

I do like the detachable cable. Matte black also makes it super stealthy. Great review Jon!
Thanks Dustin

It’s ok, some reflection depending on the angle of the sun

I suspect it would be the same as if you just unplugged it. Once power was restored then it should just come back on. As long as the Wi-Fi is back
@@HomeKitAuthority Thank you for the timely response. I really enjoy your channel. 👍

Yes they do now
Nice review as always! Which would you recommend, circle view vs Eve
Simple thing is, if you need an outdoor camera then circle view.
Is there a slot for a microSD card ? Thank you for the great review.
It does not have local storage
Really enjoying your reviews of all the latest 'omeKit accessories. Very informative.
😂 thanks
@@HomeKitAuthority sorry ;) But seriously...really enjoying the videos.
I wish it was compatible with a backup micro SD card.
Hi can you do a video on the eve cam vs the Logitech circle view?
In the works
HomeKit Authority Fab! Looking forward to it, would love to get more info on which has better clarity due to the 2 different field of views.
great review...The camera is way too expensive for the features...maybe when it’s on sale it’s worth to consider🤔
Thank you
Does it support 5ghz DFS channels? (e.g: channel 100)
Way above my pay grade that question
Eve $150 vs Eufy $50? Is this worth 3x? Not sure I see why. Maybe if the privacy centered marketing was super important to you?
I have used both and they both have benefits. It all depends on personal preference and budget
HomeKit Authority true, but no indoor cam should be 100+ nowadays.
hey jon, which would u go for between the eve cam, eufy cam and the aqara g2h? we are all spoilt for choice aren’t we ;)

Battery back-up? mobile connection ? Hidden SSID? Anti jamming protection? Without these features this is just a toy camera.
best video ever
Thanks
This or g2h?
Not had much time with the G2H
No onboard storage!? Even for Eve’s standard it could still be local!
For onboard storage then it would need some processing potentially. Eve are extremely privacy focused

It is a hard sell with the price
Shame ya can’t use it outdoors
Plenty of choices for outdoor cams though
