  • These are some very nice middle-aged Otis Series 1 elevators in a moderately sized unsecure building with high security.
The initial bust happened after I got my final pictures and Instagram story. As I was getting out of the elevator, a guy (I'm guessing some form of security) was waiting for me and asked what I was doing. I told him I'm an elevator enthusiast. He asked if I worked in the building, and I told him no. He told me I was on private property and asked for my ID. I refused to provide any form of my identity since he is not a law enforcement officer and has no right to such information. I told him I'd leave and he told me not to come back. Before I turned around to leave, he snapped a picture of me with his professional pocket device. He followed a little bit behind me to my car and took a picture of my license plate. I thought nothing would happen out of this. Fast forward two months to the middle of January during my winter break: three F#B#I agents show up at my door, identified me by my full name, and want to speak with me about "my elevator riding at [this address]". Long story short, they talked to me for about 10 minutes, going around in circles, making sure I didn't have any ill intention. Some of this is because they apparently didn't realize I really am an elevator enthusiast and I was only in the building to film the elevators for my RUclips channel. They were told by the security guy that I told him I'm "an elevator enthusiast". I didn't realize that they didn't realize I am actually an elevator enthusiast - they said the security guy probably thought I was being sarcastic. I would have clarified this earlier on. After they were satisfied that I had no ill intent toward the building or anyone in there, they left. Apparently, the person I am pretty sure who is the security guard that busted me was a former special agent and currently serves as security for a highly protected religious organization that has an office in the building. He informed the agents of this situation and they looked into it. Moreover, the agents told me F#B#I and other federal agents have offices in the building. I'm not sure if they were able to identify me using facial recognition comparison with drivers licenses/passports or if they if they tracked the license plate (registered under my parents, not me) to my address and pulled up the identity of each person living there and found me. I think it is ridiculous and kind of a waste of taxpayer dollars that the #F#B#I came to my house two months later just to "make sure" nothing bad is going to happen. To anyone from or related to the building, I have no ill intent or meaning to alarm anyone; I was truly just in the building innocently to film the elevators. PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT A CRIME! The address/location is not in the title or description for security reasons.

This whole thing like everyone is saying is absolutely ridiculous & on a whole new level of bust. I understand that they are just "making sure" due to some of the organizations in this building & the guy's potential special agent background but they went too far. The guy should've just asked/told you to leave & that be the end. If they don't want people wandering here they should lock the front entrance 24/7.

Whenever security guards ask me what I am doing, I am always happy to tell them what I was doing because I understand that what we do is unusual to most people and they are just doing their job. That guy obviously took it WAY further than it ever needed to be, but I'm glad it didn't result in anything worse

I guess that guy was on a powertrip to "make his ego happy" and call the FBI to your house, which is ABSURD from my POV!

That is probably the craziest bust possible. I’m suppressed you kept the footage without the police taking it away.

The police never were involved nor did they need to. In the end he did nothing wrong & the FBI didn't have the warrent to anyhow.

That would be a first amendment violation.

Wow, that’s pretty ridiculous for what they’ve done. They should’ve just left you alone since you were complying and leaving. Getting the FBI involved over riding elevators was completely unnecessary and very much wasted resources.

I didn't think it could get any worse then how Dieselducy was treated at St. John's hospital in St. Louis or Valley Metro in Roanoke but the FBI being notified for filming an elevator?

Okay, I've heard of ridiculous busts, but this takes the cake. Ironically, the guy acted more suspicious and inappropriate than he thought you were. Hope he gets fired. I can't imagine getting the FBI showing up at your door just for filming some basic elevators.
Also, I would probably censor the directory in the video and the place name mentioned that way someone else doesn't go there and get in deep trouble from that creep at the same place. I know for sure I wouldn't.

Sorry to hear about this happening to you. Inappropriate isn't enough to describe what happened to you. There are some people out there (This security guard included) that are power starving tyrants and exceed authority they don't have or are simply in fear 24/7 with bad information they have about others. I get it that there are organizations that have the extra security in this building for many legitimate reasons and are in the right of having such a thing. But there are still some rights you have which were clearly violated and still come first. Many property employees and even owners don't understand their rights of what they can and cannot do. In this case, all this security guy could do is tell you to stop recording, leave and don't come back which again was already being honored. No harm was being done to the building and no damage was done either. The whole experience is authoritarian. It's the best way to describe this situation and it's not even political! Unfortunately nothing will be learned here from the people of this building so it's best everyone else avoids this building at all costs. These elevators are just Otis Series 1 anyway. Still, this shouldn't have happened to you.

Yeah I got caught as I was leaving The Mint High Rise Residences in Miami, FL by security but never got my ID and never took a photo of me.

That is unbelievably shitty what happened to you. Honestly, if he wasn't wearing anything that said "security" I would have asked him for any form of identification. What makes this worse is that it seems like he's only an employee of a TENANT of the building, not an employee of the building

    • @EWPA14
      @EWPA14 24 дня назад

Apparently the FBI told Adam that the guy was "doing security for the building," but I'm guessing either that was inaccurate or perhaps the tenant security was doing building security too, but it still doesn't make it any less worse.

I’m so sorry for what happened to you with the FBI! There was a time last December where I was filming a pair of scenic Kone Ecodisc’s in a parking garage, but later before I stopped recording, I saw a sign screaming at me reading no photography or videography on this property at all times. Knowing there were security cameras outside and inside the elevators, and the fact that I couldn’t keep the location undisclosed due to the scenic elevators, I IMMEDIATELY DELETED MY VIDEO, and left the property without a word.

You can choose to stop recording but you don't need to delete your video! What you got is what you have, you shouldn't let a sign make you think you need to delete your video.

I went back and forth on whether I would upload this. In the end, I did nothing illegal and holding back gives these people and our government more power than they are worth. The video is my property and I could post it if I want!
