    Beautiful... even without the cow, lol! =) What's funny is that I was skipping ahead in the video and was like wait a minute where did the cow go? So of course, I had to go back and see what I missed, ha!

    I love watching you paint Susan. You make magic happen and I am always learning from you.
    The music is so pretty the first couple of times around but I find the frequent repetition distracts from the overall high quality of your production. I don't know if its possible to have a longer loop ? Thank you for making your videos and sharing your knowledge

      Leigh-Ann H ... thank you so much for that productive and accurate comment. Unfortunately, I can’t use Music that has a copy right, and RUclips only offers music that is around four minutes or less. I’m trying hard to find some music that I don’t have to purchase to be able to use in the videos. I totally agree with you, but at the same time I like having some music rather than none. Hope to find longer songs soon!

    Hallo Susan. Thank you very much for your great video. From your videos I can learn all time a lot. One question where can I buy the newsprint. Your system is much better as to clean the pastels with paper towels.

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  5 лет назад

      Hi Monika, sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I actually had a huge pad of newsprint I bought years ago and I'm not sure where I purchased it. I have also been using rolls of paper that I get from IKEA which works with a nice wooden holder. Here is the link....

    This was a great help Susan, in every way. Especially choosing the palette. I tend to take out ALL my pastels because I'm afraid I won't have the color I want! Crazy, but I need to downsize! LOL

    Hi Susan...loved this..I have one comment: To my eye, when you removed the cow it left what appeared to me to be three relatively dark rectangular shapes that kept puling my eye there.. I'm interested in your thoughts

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  6 лет назад

      Barry Rosenfeld ... I do see what you are saying, but I think I softened them by the time the painting was finally finished. I’ll look at the actual painting though to make sure. Thanks for pointing that out 👍🏻💜

    Also what would you say are your favorite pastels? I have some Nu pastels, some Rembrandt and Sennelier, are there any that you feel are an absolute must for plein air? I have looked at the Terry Ludwig but they are expensive and seem SUPER soft is that the case? Is there a better choice to round out what I currently have?

  • @lsenchuk
    @lsenchuk 6 лет назад +1

    The colors that you show in the beginnings of your paintings how often do you stick to just those or do you add others as you go. I would like to try pastels outdoors and would love to know that I can bring a limited amount of colors and still produce a good painting. Currently I work in oil and watercolor but I just love the look of loose pastels for landscapes. However I would rather not have to bring out a zillion colors with me.

    • @monetcafe
      @monetcafe  6 лет назад +1

      That's a great question and you are so right about not wanting to take so many pastels out for plein air painting. Unfortunately, with soft pastels you can't really mix colors as in other mediums. I do find that you can get a manageable set though for location work and then often tweak things back in your studio or home. I do add more pastels typically as I work, but I try to keep color harmony and not get to overloaded with too many. ;) Happy painting!
