Air drop and the barrel at the end? One of the most amazing clips I’ve seen. Even better because all the chandelier water on your board jumps up and claims when you do.
Whenever I see a video of someone riding a big wave from the vantage point of a boat or the shore I always think that it doesn't do it justice because you don't get a feel for what it's like right there in the action. Now that I get great POV shots from Kenny of the action, I think, wouldn't it also be great to get the larger perspective of how big that wave is from the vantage point of the shore or a boat. Guess I'm just never satisfied. So I'm putting a request in for each wave ridden to always include all vantage points including the front of board mounted back facing camera, the drone camera, the shore camera, the boat camera, the yet to be devised back of board front facing camera and last but not least, the cameraman in the water in the wave camera as the surfer goes by. Then, and only then, might I be satisficed. But probably not.
The last barrel omg, how could you manage to stay on your board, i said to myself "ok this one it will be hard to catch up, he will eat" but you made it look so ez, unbelievable 👏
I think I'm old enough to admit now that I've taken a load of hard falls on all types of snow and they can bloomin hurt but that looks like hitting sloppy concrete which then morphs into wet carpet chaos bulldozer. If I may suggest something: this cameras on the board, looking backwards, do not convey the extreme thrill that the drop moment is: to be on top of the wave, paddling and looking downhill that blue mountain of water. Please please attach a GoPro on a helmet looking forward.
IMpressive & great perspective. It's hard to get a sence of time and how hard it is to react to the external factors with the slow motion and the vibration but great to be able to see it. It does not seem too bad the washing machine on the outer reef with a vest... On the one where you fell from the ridge, I thought you were going to early... how wrong I was...
Even though he's ultimately going to eat it on that first wave, the kind of drops and saves he makes leading up to it the wipeout are just plain impressive. And that drop @2:53... to make that work in the end is almost superhuman. It's crazy to me people would rather watch the Super Bowl over this.
Kai you have incredible skill, and balls of steel, taking on Jaws like that - the wipeout @2:32 where you fell away into the abyss butt first was epic - thanks for sharing!

It's funny because GoPro cams don't do the size of this wave justice. I've seen some GoPro footage and then the footage from the shore and these GoPros, as great as they are, just don't give a real indication of how big these waves are. During the 1st wipeout the screen was going very black and it did it a few times. I could see myself in the reflection of the screen with this awful look on my face like Oh Good Lord I would not want to be surfing that wave.

Also I'd like to think that shapers could build/glass into boards little housings/hollows in boards that GoPro's could lock into so they don't get lost or knocked off etc.. Or go the whole hog and just build a board that had in built cameras that could be detached or charged while left in.. clicking GoPro's onto boards seems like a primitive way to do this right now.

I got wiped out in Maui. I jumped into a massive wave and it just threw me all over the place. I thought that was bad. Love how you escaped being wiped out the last few times!

Mastering pipeline is the real deal...fairly average board, board shorts, knowledge, and confidence. These clips are scary...but perhaps to everest...
