So if you want to know how to create a pattern for this kind of corset, let me know! I´d love to make another video in the series to show you how to make your own pattern with your measurements. Let´s make "haute couture" more available for everybody! :-)
Id love more VW inspired things! She was a goddess, and has been an inspiration for since her heart jacket and velvet mini skirts. I also vote for a revival of rocking horse shoes! 😍
Yess! Couldn´t agree more! Andreas is doing an amazing job, but the designs by Vivienne will go down as forever classics in fashion history, no doubt. Currently, I am working on a dress pattern inspired by VW, possibly to use for a wedding dress, but I agree: the jackets, the skirts, everything is so iconic and is a must have!
@@thedressmakingproject hello hello, did you ever make a/the dress? I actually found you because my daughter and I are going to make her wedding dress and she wants it to be in the style of a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress. I was looking for how to get the draping - I know you slash the pattern to open it up to get the added fabric you need but I can't work out how to do it against a corset background. Hmmm. Loved this video, thank you. And I see you put up how to do the pattern - brilliant, thank you. Very good video.
Yes please! Would love to learn your technique to create a corset pattern. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. Your work is both inspired and inspiring!
Thank you so much for this lovely comment, and so happy for you to learn this amazing skill. Having a tailor friend gives you a huuuuuge advantage, so I'm sure you will create amazing things!
this is gorgeous! thank you so much for showing us the process of making this corset, I'm still very much intimidated by it since I'm just now learning how to sew, but I'd love to see the pattern making and how to do it to fit my measurements
All the best wishes for your sewing journey! I admit, this is not the most beginner-friendly project, but once you are comfortable with your machine skills this will become totally doable! Actually, I am also planning to create some simpler, beginner projects and wanted to start a video series on how to start sewing. It´s such a great, rewarding hobby and I am so happy for you to start learning it
I did film a follow up video on the process on how to create the pattern, using your body as a "template", if you are interested in making your own version, you can check it out here: ruclips.net/video/sKxIUupTDww/видео.html
Omg this is so amazing! I just have one question: isn't the rigilene itchy against skin? I've always felt like it was "wrong" to let it be in direct contact with my skin but tbh I've never tried it in a garment haha was the rigilene also directly against the skin on the original VW corsets?
Thank you so much for this comment and the question! :-) Well, the Rigilene is right against the skin, also in the original VW corsets. I think the newest ones have a bit of a different construction so the side seams are encased, but the rest of the boning is pretty much right against the skin. It doesn´t bother me, personally... don´t feel the itchiness there. However, I see how this could be a problem for some. In that case, you can always make a casing for the ridgeline or even whip-stitch some bias tape to cover them up. If you want to have a go at that, I can make a short video explaining the process :-)
@@thedressmakingproject Hiii! Thanks for the reply! I ended up looking at some old VW corsets and yep, the rigilene is right there! I'm gonna try the whip stitch method you mentioned, seems like a cool idea (also I've been having a hand sewing appreciation moment in life lately 😂)
Omg yess for the hand-stitch era! It´s honestly one of my fave things to do in sewing, super meditative! I wish you all the luck with this project, may it come together perfectly! @@carolinesperidiao172
