  • This tutorial is for 1.7.4 and up :).
    I've got one in my survival Let's Play! It's really handy to have around because of the minimal lag - the only lag is the 60-piston-wall the creates a GIANT ICE CUBE!!! Ice collecting has never been this easy!

    Works perfect on 1.7.10 Bukkit serv ! Only it's a bit slow, but the good thing is indeed it causes very little lag.
    I even put some repeaters on the wall to separate piston fire a bit :P
    Good design, thanks.

    This is a cool farm and works great. Good tutorial as well. However, this farm takes a really really, like really long time to produce a block of ice. Afkd for a couple hours and had around 20 pieces of ice.

    Thank you, its a simple design, and even though there is lag, its only for a short amount of time (when the pistons fire) so thank you, and great tutorial

    This is nice. One thing, why do you call orange stained clay redstone blocks?

    • @torbray
      @torbray  10 лет назад +3

      These days, I call them "wiring blocks" or the blocks you put your wiring on - I know a lot of people who like to differentiate their wiring blocks to their exterior blocks for organization purposes

    I'm in Ice Mountains at y:155 and i have followed your design exactly i tested it and it worked but their is one things that is bickering me the Water refuses to freeze or it Takes Way to long to freeze i used wood rather then quartz and planks/clay rather then your orange stained clay i dont think that is a factor but any advice you can give me to get the water to freeze would be most apprciated

    torbray, I love this ice farm's design, its gorgeous. But sadly,it's costly. I know all ice farms are costly,but seriously I don't have the amount of iron to make it, which makes me want to make an iron golem farm but then they were nerfed. '-'

    • @torbray
      @torbray  9 лет назад

      Thwart Shroom It's a strange ice farm. If you really had all these materials, a decent PC (or not much in the spawn chunks) and not a huge demand for ice, I'd 100% recommend you choose another ice farm. For a server though, this is fantastic - minimum lag, 24/7 etc. If you wanted to save on resources, I'd not build the giant piston wall and flip the pistons on the bottom to push sideways - that'd give you a sheet of ice storage. It is quite a long wait to get a decent amount of ice stored up though :P

    Great tutorial, it's a real shame that in the time it takes a 10x10 lake of water to freeze this thing produces 1-6 blocks of ice so it's not really a useful farm. Any tips (or related videos) on how to make a similar automatic cube farm that has more than one initial water block?

    hey im curious why you didnt make the Y axis of the cube bigger, i think it could go up to 10/11 blocks... or am i wrong?

    • @torbray
      @torbray  10 лет назад

      scott harwood Mostly convenience - you definitely can and are able to if you want but the resources you put into making it higher is not worth the extra storage =P

    Hi there :) I realize this is an old video, but maybe you'd be able to help me, I copied your awesome design to my single player map but I'm facing a problem, the 1st ice isn't being pushed by the hopper (5:17) so the water just freezes and sits there, any insights?
    Cheers

    • @torbray
      @torbray  10 лет назад

      Sly Copperr "isn't being pushed by a hopper" What exactly do you mean by that? If you're using a hopper block, you should know that pistons can't push hopper blocks.

    • @slycopperr535
      @slycopperr535 10 лет назад

      I'm so sorry, I blame my lack of sleep >.< I meant your piston that pushes the ice directly (the one with the 2 water besides it) ahah. As it is, the ice solidifies, I hear the mechanism go off, but the ice isn't exactly pushed, I can try to take some screenshots of the structure, but I went over your vid a couple of times and I think everything looks the same
      Thanks for the quick answer :)

    • @EthanCreeperz

      Put like redstone lamps there. Ice won't generate in light level 12 and above.
