    Thanks for the review. Your video is a quick reminder that I need to calibrate the controllers for my Evo I and II. I haven't calibrated the sticks on the Evo I since I installed a Hawk antenna (not sure if it was worth the money) months ago. I hope you are enjoying yours. I push the Evo II hard. I have taken both the Evo and Evo II out to the Mojave Desert and flown in seriously high winds. Some winds were so high that I did not even attempt using the Evo I. I flew the Evo II in 28+ mph winds and 48+ gusts at over 300'. Going into the wind in ludicrous I achieved a whopping 12 mph lol. Last weekend I flew it out in a canyon near Apple Valley in similar high winds. The sound it makes fighting the high winds is scary. You can see the drone flailing about but the footage always remains stable, incredible. Push it to it's limit. Don't be that guy with the Corvette doing the speed limit. Also, that cat! Does that cat think it caught you a bird as a gift? Just hanging out with no f's to give lol.

      Thanks, Rick. Hope you get your Evo II Pro soon. If you plan to use an Apple iPhone as your mobile device, I am posting a new video this evening about some settings on your iPhone tomget the best experience with the Autel Explorer app. And you can make those setting changes before you get your Evo II.

    Great stuff. This is the kind of thing a lot of us either forget about, or just blow it off, but it looks pretty darn important to me after watching this video. I actually put a link of this on Billy Kyle's video where he veers left. I hope I don't get in trouble for that, but that could be the problem why he's veering left. He also had problems in ludicrous mode where you could see the props in the shot, but I don't know if that's the same issue or not. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain this to us. Marc Trainor.

      Marc
      Thanks for the positive comments. I actually commented on Billy Kyle’s video and asked if, before that series of flights, he had calibrated his remote control just one time, done a gimbal calibration on a level surface, done one compass calibration over a grass or blacktop surface (not concrete with rebar, which can screw up a compass calibration), and taken off from a grass or blacktop surface (not concrete with rebar, because the Evo II performs an IMU calibration EVERY time the aircraft is powered on), but my comment has not YET been posted.

      I hope you figured it out by now, but I keep mine at 40 and it works perfect for me. You still need to be very delicate with your stick movements, but with a little practice you can get beautiful manual orbits that way.

    Thanks so much. I've never used a controller. Using the joysticks, do you recommend manipulating it with your thumb at the base of the stick, or placing your thumb on top of the joystick?

    • @davidpmann9688
      @davidpmann9688  3 года назад +1

      I’ve always flown with my thumbs on top of the joysticks unless I’m flying long distances in which case I push the right stick forward with my thumb from the side. Other folks are more comfortable with the “pinch technique” in which they grasp the top of each joystick knob between their thumb and forefinger and hold onto the bottom of the controller with their remaining fingers. Do whatever feels the most natural or comfortable for you.

    I’m getting to evo 2 just doing my home work and this helps I’m subbing to you :) does this mean I don’t need my phone to fly with the controller ?! Or do you have to use your phone ?! Thanks 🙏 good job by the way !!

    • @davidpmann9688
      @davidpmann9688  4 года назад +2

      Yes, you can use only the Evo II remote controller to control your drone. Using the DSP button on the back right edge of the remote control, you can switch between the normal telemetry information screen to a live view screen on the remote control. In addition, with the live view screen displayed on the remote control, you can use the roller wheel on the back right of the remote to access move between the various settings menus at the bottom of the screen and you can access and change those camera, video, and other settings with a combination of wheel rolls left and right and depressing the wheel to select options.
      However, I have found the following limitations/issues using only the remote controller (RC) to control the Evo II with no mobile device attached:
      1) No flight records are recorded for ANY flights while using only the RC to control the aircraft
      2) You cannot access Google maps on the RC screen
      3) You cannot access any of the nine special “Intelligent Photo” flight modes, including Dynamic Track, Parallel Track, Viewpoint, Orbit, Smart Orbit and Gesture Control.
      However, it’s comforting to know that if your mobile device battery dies, or your iPhone screen goes near dark when it starts getting too hot in the bright sun, you can switch to RC only mode as an emergency backup and have access to a live view of your Evo II’s camera in flight.

    Thanks. Great video. Also I noticed that you have a hard shell case for your Evo II with space for three spare batteries. Can you post the source for this case? Thanks again.

    • @davidpmann9688
      @davidpmann9688  4 года назад

      Kenneth, The compact hard case in my video is the Autel OEM case supplied with Rugged Bundles purchased from authorized Autel vendors in China. It came inside the Autel Evo II Pro Rugged Bundle product box as shown in my Autel Evo II Unboxing video:
      ruclips.net/video/ndl7aIzOOnM/видео.html
      Interestingly, if you order an Evo II Pro Rugged Bundle from a U.S. authorized vendor, the drone and its accessories are taken out of the original factory product box and repackaged in a larger 2-layer case made by GPC with blue foam, which is then placed in a large plastic bag and shipped in a plain brown cardboard box. Both cases are high-quality and have their pros and cons. For ease of transport, including its ability to fit under most airline seats, and its ability to store everything I need including a total of four batteries and the multicharger accessory, I prefer the small compact case. The larger GPC case offers additional storage compartments in the bottom layer and has two padlock grommets for increased security.
