David, that was an exremely informative video. Can’t wait for your CrystalSky video, particularly concerning maps, which is the Holy Grail for all Evo 2/CrystalSky owners. Great work!
Thanks, John! I’ve been traveling the past 10 days and doing some videography with the Autel Evo Pro 2 using the Crystalsky as my sole mobile device in sunny 105F Phoenix heat. The good news is - the Autel Explorer app including the built-in Google Maps have worked flawlessly. However, as usual, you can fry eggs on the Crystalsky display and metal frame after a 30-minute flight in this location! But my iPhone would have overheated and shut down after 10-15 minutes in the same conditions and it would have been very difficult to see the live video. I’ll try to get the Crystalsky How-To Setup with Autel Explorer App video posted in the next few days.
Need video. How do you compare you initial experience with the E2P to the P4? Have you had any problems with the tilted horizon that seems to plague so many E2 videos I have seen?
Hi, Greg! The Evo II Pro, like the DJI P4Pro, is an exceptionally fine piece of technology. Like every DJI drone I’ve ever owned, there are some initial issues with aircraft firmware and the Autel Evo II Explorer app that I am confident will be addressed over the next few months. Case in point - the precision landing is currently unreliable. It works perfectly one time landing within 6 inches of take-off point, and totally messes up the next time attempting to land 10+ feet away. But my Phantom 4 Pro required 2-3 firmware updates 3 years ago to get precision landing (and level gimbal horizons while flying) perfected. As I did with every one of my new DJI drones over the years, I calibrated the gimbal of my new Autel Evo II Pro by placing it on a perfectly level granite countertop in my kitchen and started a gimbal calibration from the Evo Explorer app. It only takes 20 seconds and my Evo II Pro gimbal horizon has been perfectly level - even when flying in gusty winds. My DJI P4 and P4Pro drones also required complicated, multi-step IMU calibrations to get them performing well and to achieve level gimbal horizon. According to Autel, the Evo II Pro performs an IMU calibration every time the aircraft powers on and Autel currently does not allow the pilot to perform a manual IMU calibration.
Rick Britton .Thank you Dave, I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 9, I hope it will work okay, Dave I heard that maybe autel is thinking about making a Smart Controller, the crystal sky is very cool and very expensive. Dave I'm still waiting for my autel evo pro, can you see autel oled screen.in sun, I realize that know features work without phone, but I'm wanting to check fences on are 160 acres my grandfather left us. I would love that crystal sky remote. God bless you and your family. Sincerely Rick from Mo
Hello, Rick. I just checked the Evo II Remote Control OLED screen out in bright sun and, yes, you can see the live video image from the Evo II Pro (when no mobile device is attached), particularly if you can shade the screen with an umbrella or something similar or stand in the shadow of a tree, building, etc. However, the screen is very small, so you will be hard-pressed to see small details while flying unless you hold the screen right up to your face and have your readers on 😉. Also, you cannot change video settings, menu settings, etc. because it is not a touch screen and I’ve not found a way to access menus from the stand-alone remote control. And your flight will not be recorded in flight records.
@@davidpmann9688 ,Thank you Dave, I hope the rumor, that they are going to build a smart controller will be true. I love the apps you showed us. I have a go to fly where I live, I didn't know how it would go, we have a small airport about 1mile across a major highway and a hospital about 3 miles away, So Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I feel alot of anxiety off my mind, God bless you and your family Sincerely Rick from Mo
Christen, open the Autel Explorer app, select “Camera” on the Camera - Mission screen. At the bottom right corner of the camera screen is a “^” symbol. Tap on the “^” symbol which will bring up a number of camera and video settings on the bottom edge of the screen. Using your finger, you can scroll this settings menu left and right to reveal cuurent video resolution, frames per second, etc. Tapping on current video resolution or fps setting brings up a sub-menu allowing you to select other possible settings.
Excellet video, spoken slowly enough to understand why the speaker is saying
This was very helpful and I highly recommend it to anyone using the iPhone with the Autel Evo 2
Thanks my man good video 👍

How do you find the settings showing whether you're filming 8k, 4k, 2.7k etc. I've looked all through and can't find it.
