I have a question, if you have one head unit and have Mega 360 and Mega Live when you switch from 360 to Live do they both keep running even though you’re viewing only one?
Good and detailed video. But the most important thing is not explained. How was the power connection made? Was the drain cable connected to what? Either everyone says something different here or nothing at all. HB says the cable must (not should) be connected to the boat's earth. Did you do it like this on your boat? HB prescribes it in the installation instructions. Thank you for your answer. Greetings from Germany.....Christian
You went into detail on hand tightening the screw for the bracket. Then skipped attaching the Mega Live transducer to the system. Good detail though and helpful. I'm running a single unit Helix 12 MSI+ G4N. I was told I just need a cable to connect to the Ethernet cable and to the unit.
The cable to connect to the ethernet is included. The cable to connect to the power is included. Nothing for you to purchase unless you want to connect directly to the unit and not the ethernet.
@@highschoolfishingcentral7753 I just have the Helix 12 G4N no Ethernet. I have heard a few people claim Mega Live works better with Ethernet box instead of to unit via cable.
Thanks for watching! Hard to tell since I was only on the water for about an hour and I did not even make a cast. My first impressions of the Mega Live is that it is much clearer than the Livescope I had. We will see once I get several days of fishing with it. Unfortunately the fishing season is coming to an end where I live so I may not really get to test it out until next spring.
Thanks. I did not put the choke in because I just bought some lithium batteries and a new charger that I still need to install. If I end up getting interference that I cannot get rid of I will install the choke.
According to other videos I've seen, power cord was not needed and the adapter cable plugs directly to the ethernet port on back of the helix unit. From this video you're showing a power cord. Is the image transducer connected to a battery?
@@highschoolfishingcentral7753You have the hinge (The buttons) to the rear of the trolling motor. This means that when in forward mode, with the boat moving forward, water pressure will be pushing the hinge open. I believe the hinge should go to the front of the trolling motor.
I got mine from Bass Pro online and received it within 5 days. I had to keep checking different Bass Pro stores until I found one that had them in stock. I also checked Scheels.
I did not initially install the choke. After having my boat on the water twice after the install I am getting a little (very little) interference. I have since removed my Lead batteries and installed lithium and while doing so installed the choke. Unfortunately, I live in the north and have not had my boat on the water to see if the choke helped clear up the interference. I will put a follow-up video on RUclips this Spring with information about the choke.
Same hear I live in North East Pennsylvania , to cold to get out , I've installed two 12" Helix g4n mega di, mega 360 & mega live, no Ethernet hub went with stand a lone unit for live, no choke
Man I'm a Humminbird guy and this is not what I was expecting from MEGA Live...very disappointing to see how basic the view is. Doesn't compare to Garmin. I figured Mega Live would have had a stellar picture like the rest of their products.
@@highschoolfishingcentral7753 Yes sir I did and thank you for the video! Humminbird's side and down scan clarity in my opinion has been hands down the best in the industry so I was expecting the Live to be much better than its competitors. Guess I'll need to readjust my expectations and hope the next generation is different.
Mounting live scopes to any trolling motor is huge crazy problem, the 2nd huge problem is your trolling motor moving when your trying to focus on a live target. These 2 thing can't and won't ever work together because your using them for scientifically different purposes. So why do people keep trying to package them together is crazy. This is mind blowing and a huge red flag that makes easy to identify low IQ fishermen. One huge problem with this guy, he seems to think other manufacturers don😢have unique connections.....
The amount of equipment is ridiculous and unnecessary. That's literally way to much for just fishing......he has electronics gold fever without the fishing skill. How can people tell.... his boat and equipment is way to clean. My foot pedal has never looked out of the box clean like his does. Once it gets used, dirty they never look like that again.
Great video this will be very helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Perfect! Thank you

Lots of helpful hints! Thanks for making the video 👍

@@Askeyb2011 I have heard the same and that is how I have mine set up. If you are going to hook directly into your unit you would need the dongle.
Dam good mostly iknow what cables will marry up or not n why.!!!!!😊😊😊
Thank you for the review! Very helpful. I’ve heard others say Mega Live isn’t very clear. Or not as clear as Livescope. What do you think?

Did you discuss where you got power from? And use of a switch for power or not? Maybe I missed it if you did?
I believe the mask is to stop returns from bouncing back off the surface of the water. Did you just wire the power into the factory fuse box.

Are you powering all of them graphs off your cranking batterie?
Yes
Ur 360 settings are dead on. Crystal clear.
Thanks. The 360 paired with the Mega Live really gives you the full picture of what is under the water.
That is what I’m hoping, that is why I got the live unit.
Where did you get that long shaft ultrex?my neighbor been looking for a year only found 45in shaft
I honestly don’t remember but it might have been Amazon.
You can go to repair shop and they can remove your shaft and put longer shaft on
I think in landscape mode the hinges supposed to be up not down so you have the transducer upside down basically
The manual says it can go either way. Since I have a Mega 360 I decided to open towards the trolling motor head to keep it further from the 360.

How long did it take to obtain your mega live? ( from when you ordered it an when you received it)?

Where did you go with the drain/shield wire? Did you tie it to the Ground wire?
Yes, Just twist it together with the black wire.
Do u show the choke install
