I take it you know that they have given rights to the fan community to create a timesplitters game, they were creating a multi player pc game with the possibility of console ports later, I haven't checked on it in a while though since my laptop doesn't like gaming, and i thought it might make me even sadder that the devs have had to drop the game
The most fun I have ever had playing a video game bar none. I remember literally staying up all night at my friends house whilst we set the deathmatch mode to the max amount of kills and had competitions to see who could kill the most bots. The Arcade mode was amazing too.
I wonder what my parents thought when they would over hear "bite my crunchy, brown, ass" coming from their 5th grade son's bedroom on a Saturday night.... Ahh the memories hahaha.

After watching this review I picked up a used copy of this game to goof off with... I love shooters and I like, uhm, herbal therapy ;) and this game matches those two things together beautifully! I wish I had known about the game a few years back, I would have loved to play it online, but the fact that you can play multiplayer on one console with bots is something that's been lost in almost all modern shooters these days. I just bought Timesplitters Future Perfect for Xbox, but I also have Timesplitters 2 for PS2. Just so y'know Mark, this game does still have online support for the XBox, but they have not released a patch allowing compatibility with the 360. Of course, being an older game, and Xbox supported only, there is no one playing it. But the maps that people made, that were uploaded to the Xbox Live service, are still available.
This was one of my favourite games of all time!! I was an absolute gem! Free Radicals had some of the best talent in the business. People do not even realise that Free Radicals made Rare what it was. If not for them then GoldenEye 64 and the first Perfect Dark would of not existed! Then when they left Rare went poo! Please let 4 be as good plus they need to put up their TS3 servers again! Or at least do a HD remake of this!
ahhh timesplitters. Such memorable characters and a massive variety of game modes, this would be perfect for next gen consoles. love the timesplitters series (virus mode was such an adrenaline rush lol)
I also have a question, what are you playing this game on? I noticed it's in widescreen, and you mentioned playing Warhawk, and I've seen your intro video tens of times now. So I'm guessing this was running on your PS3?
I started with TS3 and haven't been able to find any of the others :S. TS is just one of those few games where you get so much innovation it could give you hours of fun for exp the hundreds of characters and the map maker was what brought me back. Though they weren't the only things though I loved the story in TS3 and FP, the humour was just good fun, it didn't have continuity errors (really hard for a game that spands across different time zones) and the difficulty levels gave extra sections.

Though it may seem unlikely, a Timesplitters 4 would be a dream come true. Timesplitters 2 was amazing and I now seriously want to get Future Perfect; I had thought 3 leaded more towards 1 player but after seeing this video I just have to find this game. Best characters = Dinosaur, Bear, Duckman Drake, Leo Grumps(hopefully he returned in 3), and certainly Mr. Giggles.
Aw yes, Tron 2.0... You know, you made me cry. I love that game. I played it back in 2003, it was awesome. Why kill it? And yes, I'm totally agree with you about Timesplitters, although, I would wish, that they whould make something like level editor features in Portal 2, where you can make a level and put it online and everybody can play and rate it.
Disco was always my favorite. I recall having a loop I'd run on that map, hogging all the best weapons and taking out everyone in my path. I was good at that game in a way I haven't been in any FPS, before or since.

I think the MP just works as it's got the same GoldenEye-esque gameplay that made that so great, even RARE couldn't get it right with Perfect Dark Zero (possibly due to the fact the made the weapons so frickin' weak) But I used to play this online a lot, great online, no lag whatsoever either! BTW Mark, have you tried The Club on 360 or PS3 yet? That might be up your alley if you like TimeSplitters.
Amazing game wish they would continue the series and progress further they could do SO much for the ps3 and xbox360 especially with Online game play the ideas are countless I hope within the next few years or so they consider creating Timesplitters4 because most of the newer games of today can't even touch the Timesplitters series of games
As of August 17th 2009, Timesplitters 4 has officially been declared as on hold. In a recent interview, Crytek UK claimed that they would continue the project once there is a high industry demand for such a game.
I LOVE this game as a kid. I would always set the all the enemies to deerhunter and just set the weapons as a sniper rifle and the map would be that ice place and me and my friend would be either the little girl or the monkeys :D
I totally agree with you man, Timesplitters Future Perfect was a work of art and is far better than Halo 3 etc.. in so many ways, too bad the game didn't have a bigger advertising budget and better graphics because if it did, I am SURE this game would be what is now Halo 3! (It sure as hell is more fun than Halo!)
i hope they work on the mapmaker in the next one. i liked it in TS:FP but they need to allow even more stuff. Plus, add in the option for co-op story mode in mapmaker as well.
yeah, and you can even change the cross hair, so you can just have it stationary like most modern FPS's, or you can have it move around like in Perfect Dark, Or you can have no cross hair, like Goldeneye!
Love this game *wipes tear* Ever tried attaching loads of timed mine to a rolling barrel and sending it in to orbit?..loads and loads of fun right there!..I think hotel was a good map for doing that..

There's no online support for this on 360 for 2 reasons, the original Xbox Live doesn't work anymore (Original Xbox Live not talking about 360 so you can't play halo 1 or 2 either) and the second reason is 360 isn't 100% backwards compatible as shown with Timesplitters Future Perfect since it doesn't work on the 360.
When I saw that first shot of the telly in Shaun of the Dead and recognised that they were playing the holiest of holies, Timesplitters 2, I basically exploded in fanboy delight. I wonder how much doing that cost them? Or maybe they got away with it, saying that they were promoting the game. I dunno, BUT IT'S AWESOME.
I totally wonder how the map editor works. It seems limited in ability, and they probably weren't using it to create the storyline maps... Still, interesting.
This reminds me of many late nights (and early mornings) playing with my brother or with my friends on TS2 and TS3. Fucking gotta love the Chinese Resturaunt level!
this is why PC rules as a platform, had this game been a PC game, there would still be a dedicated community running improved graphical mods and dedicated servers
I got this at Gamestop for 15 dollars and When i played It I couldnt believe it was that cheap. It was the most fun I had in months lol with video games that is. It also lasted me a while!
the only thing i can think of to make it better wud be a team elimination mode, where all players hav a certain number of lives and one team must completely wipe out the other,but then agen, you can alredy set handicapped teams, and even as it is, its still the best game ever created
Id be happy with just the online mode ie all the maps from the games, all charctors and an updated map maker that makes use of the extra ram, or just 360 backwards compatibility (probably imposible now since MS officially stopped adding to backwards compatibility, still annoyed that there's also no support for Tron 2.0)

The fact that you have compared this to Halo 3 throughout shows that Future Perfect was way beyond its time.

My favorite FPS, also the only PS2 game I played online (not that there were many). Mostly played it online, was so good, the music was fantastic.
@Linkinpork989 The save files for the profiles aren't that big, but the custom maps take up a ton of space.

This is what I loved about Timesplitters
they balance out the multiplayer and singleplayer and both are equally fun.

I always used Harry Tipper, the monkey or Securidroid on multiplayer on the Siberia level with the 9mm, it was too much fun.

I am a Cyborg Chimp fan myself. I like all of the weapons but if I had to pick a fav, I would go with the Scifi Sniper all the way.

Online was good. You could play cooperatively with friends in the same console against some online folks.
Online could be fun, but there were SO MANY cheaters

Its a great game. Me and my brother played through it co-op under an evening. There was some tricky parts but we cleared it nonetheless.

They kinda broke the Shotgun in Future Perfect: Timesplitters 2's shotgun is one of my fave game weapons ever, but FP's just feels off.
