I actually think it's good that this was my first paper mario game. It allowed me to see the game for what it is, rather than what it isn't

This was the first paper mario game I played in its entirety and it's nowhere near as bad as people say it is
It's not perfect at all - I will say that, but clearly a lot of work went into it especially the music and graphics, so I can't hate on it too much, even though it's almost nothing like the the others before it

Man I used to be so bad at figuring out the puzzles in this game, I could never finish it. I came back to it soon after though after watching a playthrough on what to do, this game definitely brings lots of great memories

I've started playing it today and already got stuck on the bridge "puzzle" from w1-1, then tried W1-2 and W1-3 and got stuck on all 3 levels LOL
I really REALLY suck figuring out this stuff.
Now I'm feeling dumb that I haven't spoken with ALL the Toads on W1-1 and will have to try again tomorrow LOL

I wanted to play this game when I was a kid, but I was unable to until my dad got me a 3ds emulator on pc because it’s easier to see the screen that way and it was a great game for me.
I used to hate this game until I actually played it and I love it. Never let the media influence your judgement. While I definitely think it's the weakest paper mario game it definitely holds a special place in my heart and definitely isn't a bad game in of itself. Honestly I think this game has the best music second to Origami King. Nice video thanks for recording this underappreciated gem.

This game is possibly the game that made me love paper mario (ironically i know, considering that paper mario fans seems to hate this game since it very different from the original formula and the story being an very simple one and not being unique), and i consider it to be an good game also it was one of the games that i played in my childhood that truly managed me break my head to solve the puzzles and strangely enough, i only had troubles with two puzzles and the rest of the puzzles, i solved them fairly easy (its kinda bizarre considering the amount of people i see in the coments saying they had trouble with an lot of puzzles)
This games has an lot of flaws if you compare it to older games of the franchise such thousand year door or paper mario 64 but still, they are good games, just not what fans of the franchise expected.
I undoubtly would play it again if i ever get the chance again since my 3ds broke because of my stupidty (and here where i live, they are quite expensive, really old decade consoles costs almost the same as an new generation console)
you can play this game using an emulator called Citra on your Android phone. You just need to download the game ROM. Just do google. All the best 👍🏼

To each their own. I understand where it was going, it just didn’t stick with me. If you like it, that’s fine. I just find the sticker system annoying. If you don’t have enough stickers, you’re screwed. At least in previous entries it made sense, at least to me.
Funny fact you can beat all bosses with a perfect bonus but just not the ice bowser if u wanna know that im a real fan here are all the bosses goombas folded i think then pokey not pokimane then blooper not bloopers from videos then ice bowser not ice cream then piranhi plant i have nothing to say about this bowser turtle i gues extras kamek magic guy and turns stickers into his favorite celebrity bowser flip flops then bowsers son bj is his name
The haunted mansion in the snow world was one of my, if not my MOST, favorite moments in all of Sticker Star! I had a really great time exploring all over the mansion and catching all the Boos, and I love how ominous it still is watching that part again! (And yes by the way I love Luigi's Mansion so the haunted mansion in Sticker Star is pretty much perfect for me!)

I just adore cute creepy elements in games and I may not be very fond of Nintendo, but my gods, they are perfect at a sweet, adorable, creepy vibe.
I just love the Boos, Luigi's Mansion and the haunted house in this game is such a treat. I bought Paper Mario TTYD because of Twilight Town and the other, while not spoopy, black and white area with rainbow accents, don't recall the name. The music in these areas and games are just so soothing, gaaaah. 🥹♥️
So happy to see others love these elements too. ♥️

I loved this game! I played it a lot back then when I was about 7-8 during the early years of the 3ds. I almost beat the game on my original save file and left off on the final level. I’m now 15 turning 16 in July and I am now replaying this game on my 3ds and going to finish the game this time!
Lol I actually finished he game back when I was 7-8 but now I’m coming back to see if the game actually ends or as I thought it just keeps restarting me after the final battle lol

My Grandma got me this game for christmas at 11. I have sadly lost it since 2012, but since I'm in my mid 20's, with a new 2ds XL I can just order sticker star off amazon or mercari for cheap.
This will forever be my favorite Paper mario game and 3DS game (Tied with Planet robobot and smash of course)
Gosh time really does fly and nostalgia hit hard. I think This was my first ever paper Mario game I played (this is debatably a good or bad thing, and if I’m remembering wrong, then it was Super) it was rather hard for me to progress as I couldn’t really understand how or where to reach my objective as I would end up needing a guide to figure out what to do and where to do it (Younger me wasn’t a fan of reading text, which is unfortunate considering how paper Mario are stories told through text… well at least the three games prior, nowadays the stories are kinda just “meh” ever since I understood the length that Super’s story was as well as the complexity of 64 and tTYD) I did enjoy the game on my old 3DS, but of course my ignorance and lack of knowledge made it so I wasn’t capable of what the past paper Mario’s were capable of, and honestly I wish the modern paper Mario’s could go back to its strong, story-telling routes instead of just being “Oh it’s made of PAPER, lets do silly paper things hehe stickers paint fold sentient stationary hehehaha” as well as fixing the massive issue battle has of actually having meaning (that issue is slightly fixed in tOK, but I’m sure experience points were much better for the feeling of growing on the adventure) but I can kinda sorta understand if this design choice was made so that new, younger players wouldn’t worry about being under-leveled, but that design choice ultimately became the biggest flaw of battle as it meant that every battle that isn’t a boss is completely optional as, again, you don’t get stronger when it comes to using your stickers (sure you got the shiny and flashy stickers, but the game kinda just gives it to you, you don’t exactly earn that extra power and keep it… it’s tied to that tier of sticker) so it really just wastes your time… I really wish this wasn’t the case… I want to feel like what I’m doing had a purpose, I want to get stronger and work towards the ability to take down stronger foes instead of the game just being the same thing with no meaning. I can understand why people praise this game, it’s kinda unique with its new approach to the franchise that is now commonly referred to as modern-day paper Mario or “PAPER” Mario, but ultimately it’s just really flawed in the places that it doesn’t succeed in, but in the places it does succeed it, it really does succeed in, like its arts-and-crafts visuals, it’s music, and just the silly little things like literally gluing pieces of scenery back in place. I just wish it could do that while still being the real RPG, in-depth story-telling game it was once known for being, I want to experience what made the game so great (without having to... you know, pirate or even get something like a pc to even do that), I know people might say this game is a masterpiece, but in my eyes and opinion, it’s really not, but that’s just my opinion, everyone has their own opinion and by god are they entitled to have one! I’m just stating mine and how I wish that fans of/people who’ve actually played the older games can get what they want and maybe possibly grew up with while also giving the new audience members like me myself something that’s just as enjoyable to look back on like the older games were to older fans. If only the heads at Nintendo actually used their dang heads, but I guess all they’re using is their eyes to see the numbers to know what sells well… I hope I didn’t offend or upset anyone with my word (which is kinda just me venting in a manner) don’t let me ruin your fun if that’s what I’m doing… I kinda just wanted to let out my feelings on this game and what it’s apparent done to a franchise that was once known for being something much greater than it was before. I do enjoy this game to some level, but I wish it could’ve been better than what it really is compared to its ancestors before it. A series this great, and now more papery that it was originally meant to be, shouldn’t fall flat like it (see what I did there?)

While I do like this game, the difficulty spikes can be hard to get used to. Plus, Kersti sucks, and I think we can all agree on that. Not even 10 minutes into the game, and she automatically pins the blame on Mario right after freeing her. About as bad as DW from Arthur.

Ya as soon as I heard that Nintendo stopped production of the 3DS and 2 DS I went and bought a whole bunch of systems from Amazon and a friend of mine had the dream team 3DS and so I got that as well. Now I'm collecting every (NA) 3DS game made. RIP 3DS/2DS

Bowser has had a lot of character growth in the Paper Mario series. Excluding Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, he hasn’t been wholly the antagonist, more of a pawn being used by the main evil bad (the crown in this one and black paint in Color Splash).

I only played this, the first and second Paper Mario. My favorite is Paper Mario 64.
But one thing I really praise about Sticker Star is its variety of level design.
All stages have their own mechanics, which makes the game very fun to play.

Sticker Star is honestly bashed on too hard. It's different to traditional paper mario, but it's still quite similar! Seriously, this game is so over hated. It's not as good as say TTYD but still worth s try!
Personally I just have a personal hatred for sticker star. I’m all for changing the paper Mario formula. Hence why super paper Mario is pretty good. But they just butchered what makes paper Mario so fun here. Battles that aren’t worth to take part in. Bland characters with no personality or even a name other than kersti. Overly complicated puzzles that literally requires a guide. Your attacks being expendable, and things taking up too much space mainly just to be used for puzzles, and overly challenging bosses, that just become a pushover when you use the right sticker. Basically meaning you have to do what the developers tell you to do and not fight a boss the way you want to. Not to mention the stupid paperization ability. I swear, most of this games puzzles is getting stuck, then using paperization to suddenly find something you need, and you need to either backtrack to find the right thing, turn it into a sticker only to waste it on a puzzle.
But even then. I respect anyone who likes this game. People shouldn’t be mistreated for liking something you don’t like.
I think we've all been spoiled by TTYD...

@@Blackforte180the game on its own is honestly not that bad, I’ve beaten it a few times. It’s pretty clear that this is not even close to being on the same level as TTYD, and is the weakest paper mario game by far. However, it’s really not a bad game overall, just flawed.

I absolutely LOVE the visuals and soundtrack of this game, but it was so frustrating for me as a child, especially with the bosses where you were given no hint as to what thing sticker you needed to give yourself the advantage! The battle system as a whole kinda hurts me since there’s no real reward for fighting, but Sticker Star’s alright in its own way. I have to give it credit as my first Paper Mario game that got me into the series, but I definitely like TTYD much more
This game was my introduction to the Paper Mario games and as a 9 year old kid I loved the game and played it over and over (until I lost the cartridge...). Years later I decided to play it again after getting a powerful enough phone that can handle Citra, even after I've played SPM, PM64, PMCS and PMTTYD I can still firmly say this is still my favorite Paper Mario game flaws and all

The stupid Big Cheep Cheep caused me a game over before when I tried to fight it the first time, I remember. When I DID finally beat it I was left with ONE health left.
Yes, just 1. I still remember how it was exactly just 1 health left because of how crazy that moment was, and I was excited to finally move on for the first time. But yeah...talk about getting lucky!
Ohh I loved this game! I liked all the ones that involved paper Mario but I haven’t played the most recent one
So, I tried to play this game by skipping all of the enemies as possible in this game, a "No Coins" and even had done a "No Battle Spin" challenge to see if everyone was right about the game being too easy and Coins being completely useless. I had peeled and collected a lot of stickers and had to backtrack so many times just to get the good ones, and to that, I say this:
THIS GAME IS DEFINITELY NOT AS EASY AS EVERYONE SAID. COINS ARE ABSOLUTELY A MUST IN THIS GAME AND YOU WANT TO GET SO MANY OF THEM JUST TO MAKE THE GAME MORE FAIR. BECAUSE HOLY SHIT! I ALMOST DROPPED THE GAME FROM DOING THIS CHALLENGE!!!
But it was fun trying something new to this underrated gem of a game. I really love it!

I loved this game, i 100 percented it when i was a bit younger. This game will always be one of my favourites, it had a good amount of variety, especially with the bosses, and the battle system was actually better than ttyd idiots think it is.

Yeah, at least Sticker Star had unique bosses. Unlike *coughs*, Color Splash, which LITERALLY USED THE KOOPALINGS! anyway, I also love Sticker Star and it was part of my early childhood. I have played no other paper Mario game before. However, despite color splash not having original bosses, it still looks like a decently fun game

I get that fans really didn't like this game due to the lack of partners,badges, leveling up to get stronger, mario's voice, unique npcs, ect. It is the weakest of the series but I still think this was a creative game in its own way. I just really like how the world is literally all made of paper and how it's used to solve puzzles. The humor writing is still there and the music is still pretty good. One thing I realized that some of the thing objects you get in this game are now the bosses you face in Origami King.

I love this game! I remember getting it around maybe a week after it released and I was hooked. The only reason I stopped playing was because I found the first level of World 2 difficult for some reason.
This Game maybe underrated & not as Great as the other Paper mario titles but its not That Bad! its just the Concept is not Great!

I personally like sticker star on its own, but obv its quite hated among the paper mario community, and the fans of this game dont seem to understand why. Ive been in the paper mario community for long enough to tell you some if the reasons why its so hated.
1. Hard/confusing: The game has a massive lack of guidance. This compared to the partner hint from ttyd, is a big downgrade. Now usually, this would be fine but some parts ofvthe game are so diabolically hard you need to search up a tutorial. This though depends on who you ask. Most of the arguments that state this is a bad game include this point.
2. It literallly ended paper mario: Theres always the argument that its a good game on its own, but some peopl have to accept that its not on its own. Its part of a trilogy of paper mario, and it had NOTHING to do with these old paper marios. For example, it got rid of creative world designs, a fun and well flowing combat system, partners, levels, generic stages, good writing, etc. (everything mentioned is out of the words of sticker star haters, practically copy and pasted.) My point is that its so hated because paper mario games were just so good that this one was an unbelievable downgrade, add the fact that it took away what made paper mario into paper mario.
Ill expand on some of the stuff mentioned above, specifically on why the community hates it. Ill basically neglect the fact of me thinking its a good game on its own.
- No unique characters: To someone who has played this game on its own, it doesnt seem like this is an issue, but as soon as you play some of the old games, like ttyd, you realise the deficit. Its just toads and generic mario characters, specifically on the bosses, its just supercharged versions of a goomba, a pokey, a blooper, a snowman, pete piranha and finally bowser. Ttyd had other characters like hooktail, the x-nauts, doopliss, etc i could go on and on. Ttyd also gives you a very wide range of characters to talk to and interact with aswell, these characters are like erased from sticker star.
- Partners: Do i have to explain? I dont think so.
- Lack of plot: Ill tell you the plot real quick. Annually there is a sticker comet that everyone makes wishes to. No background lore. Bowser comes and decides to touch it, and somehow a bunch of crowns come out. No backstory again. He also takes the princess with him. WOW, WHAT A SURPRISE. Mario now goes around and collects these royal stickers. After, he goes up to fight bowser, kersti sacrifices herself and mario wins. The comet is reconstructed and oeach is saved. Everyone lives happily ever after. tldr: bowser touches a comet and takes oeach, mario collects some stickers and fights bowser. Bruh. You could have made that story so much more interesting. Compare it to ttyd where you have an ancient city that lies underground after it was destroyed by a cataclysm SPOILER ALERT a one thousand year old demon, its not been 1,000 years and you need to collect magical crystals to lock it up again, but a random alien civilization by the name of x-nauts is racing you to them. Sticker star has like no pressure in its storyline, no backstory, NO POINT.
- Gameplay: Whats a game without good gameplay? For one, the gameplay is sticker star has moments where it is just say too confusing and way too hard. I rmember spnding up to a couple of hours doing the pyramid alone in sticker star. Also, to add onto the point where is recked paper mario, it was structured like a more traditional mario game. W1-2, W2-5, ETC. People much more preferred the open world style. The world design is very much bland, even on its own. Ill once again use the comparison of old paper mario, wuch as ttyd where you had to literally work your way up through 20 ranks to become a champion in the glitz pit, just to find its all a scheme by grubba, with fighters disapperwing and such.
That concludes it. On a personal note, I think I like sticker star. Many sticker star fans dont seem to understand why the hate, but once you become more immersed into the paper mario community and especially play the older games, it becomes very apparent why people like it. Thats why i included so much comparison with ttyd here.
