    Great video!! Does the motor come with a battery charger, and can you easily remove the battery and charge it in-house ? Thank you

      Yes a charger is included, and you can charge it in your house.

    Great video. I currently have a bixby and occasionally do inshore fishing at the coast. Water can be pretty shallow. Does a Newport or this sit lower? Would it be ok for places like that?

      You can adjust the depth on both the torqeedo and newports to run very shallow. Also you can add a rock guard if you are worried about grounding www.innovativesportsman.com/store/p119/Torqeedo_1103_Utility_Rock_Guard_%28Backordered_Until_March_11th%29.html#/

    When rigging this up, do you have to choose between the rudder and the torqueedo? I.e. can you put the rudder down with the torqeedo up and still use the foot controls or did you have to disconnect them in order to use the Torqeed?

    Can you please give pros and cons on the Torqeedo vs NewPort NK motors? As I understand limitations of the Torqeedo is the battery, but motor itself is better built, also Torqeedo is more expensive.

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks

      Newport Pros: Cheaper, external battery size is unlimited
      Torqeedo Pros: Quieter, smoother throttle and power band, fit and finish is unmatched
      Newport is a phenomenal setup for the $1500 range, Torqeedo is a step up in every way at around $2500

      That proprietary battery concept kills it for me too!

      But isn’t the Torqeedo battery a lot lighter then most others?

    Any reason to have that black gear pod thing between your feet if you mounting the motor on the back?

      I have the RVR 119 would the Torqeedo 1103 be a good set up or would you recommend another set up for powering the RVR 119 ?

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  8 месяцев назад

      @@shanereeder6041 I ran the NK180 on my RVR last year and it performed very nicely 4-4.5 mph. The 1103 AC and NK300 is not neccassary on the RVR unless you have the extra $ to blow. There is always a deminishing return of performance to cost escpecally on a more river centric kayak.

    I thought you are going to test this 1103 with a rudder as you did with NK180 Can you please do this test? I promise I will subscribe!

      The stock rudder is designed for paddling control and performs well in doing so. However, the rudder system cannot function properly with this much power. Tieing direcly to the motor for steering controls is a must to achieve full control at this power band.

      @@tgcanoesandkayaks excuse me, but this kayak is not intended for paddling at all, it called -PWR, 99.9% of people who is going to buy it, are going to put a motor. Seems what Bonafide just upsell this model with a rudder feature to the public.

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@WarEagleTheBest This is Bonafide's description of the PWR 129 rudder: "The integrated rudder design offers flexibility for different rigging set-ups, working well for paddle power or electric motors." It's nicely set up for the power aspect but, when using the rudder, it paddles pretty well, also.

      Doctor kayak, what is your motor budget?

    • @doctorkayak

      @@tgcanoesandkayaksRight now I have the Jackson Bite FD with the E-Drive. As far as I am concerned it is the most ingenious marriage between a motor and a kayak I have seen to date. HOWEVER, they discontinued the motor so I am reconsidering revamping my entire rig because I plan on becoming a fulltime nomad in the next year or so. The plan is to get a bumper pull Grand Design camper to pull with my Silverado. Herein lies my predicament.
      Pulling a camper and a kayak trailer is pretty much out of the question and getting a 100lb plus kayak on top of my truck cap would certainly be a major challenge. I was thinking of possibly selling my entire rig and starting over with a much lighter kayak/setup.
      I have been looking at several options such as the Newport motors, Bixby as well as Torqeedo. I really don’t want to get rid of what I have but I have not found the perfect solution of getting my beast on and off of my truck cap without killing myself or the truck. Speed in a yak is nice but not important. As far as budget, I have a LOT invested so far. The motor and battery combination was about $1700. The kayak itself was about $2700 and the trailer… I’m near the ten grand mark including the add-ons, mods and such.

      @@doctorkayak You have an incredible setup. A few years ago, I also had the pleasure of using the E-drive on a Jackson Bite FD and Bluesky Angler 360. I understand why you enjoy the setup so much - it's a smooth combo.
      Sounds like you are in a lifestlye change and I understand weight will be a priority for you going forward. Are there any specific kayaks you are considering? What is your height and weight? What is your price point for the kayak and motor combination? What is the weight you need the kayak to be?

      @@tgcanoesandkayaks THANKS! I subbed you BTW. I'm in Northern Michigan right now. That's another reason for the lifestyle change. I'm 63yo & 245lbs, 5.7 tall... My inseam in 34... LOL!
      Its winter and we are in the middle of a good snowfall right now so kayaking is on the back burner for now. Looking at all options. To be honest I would really like to keep my kayak rig so I might be focusing on how I might be able to make that happen. I don't have much hands on experience with other brands except but I am open to all options. I like the Hobie line but again not really sure which direction to go.
      I think my email is in my channel details if you want to continue. There I can give you my phone number and we can chat like old-timers...
      Thanks for your interest.
