- I'm creating a Realistic Super Mario Brothers Remake with Chris Pratt as Mario! This is a preview of gameplay from the first four levels.
I am a life long Nintendo fan, and I'm very excited for the Super Mario animated movie from Illumination and Nintendo! So, I decided to make some sort of fan project while we're all waiting for a trailer. But, then I started to wonder what it would look like if Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, and Keegan-Michael Key, were actually these characters in a realistic mushroom Kingdom. That seemed like an incredibly fun idea, and that's why I'm attempting to make this game. With zero game development experience, I'm learning unreal engine from scratch and picking up any other skills that I can along the way, in an effort to make this a legitimately great action game!

Seeing Mario just straight up walk _around_ the pipe freakin' blew my mind.

Imagine what we could do if we could see beyond the 3d idea of the world we live in. Where Mario had to learn to think outside of the plane, we have to learn to think outside of the box.

I'm both amused by the hyper realism and impressed by how well made it is.
World 1-3 has some of the most atmospheric and peaceful soundtracks I’ve ever heard. I could get lost in that world with that song
I just hope we get playable Charlie Day Luigi in a future update, perhaps with a cutscene with him describing the Koopa Kingdom conspiracy to Mario.
There will absolutely be a playable Charlie Day!!! As soon as Bowser's done, he will be in the next update!

I'm planning to see this in theaters alongside my friends and I gotta say it's well put together and even better than the ones I grew up with from the 90's.
Remember all those Mario in real life artworks from 2014? Someone made a game like it and it’s freaking awesome!
Sometimes I feel that both 2012 and 2016 were some of the best years Mario had
They all just copied the nightmarish 1993 movie. This feels like a remake of it in some ways.
20 years ago, this is exactly what I imagined video games to become.

Here's a thought: what if "small" Mario looked like 10 year old Chris Pratt and "big" Mario looked like your current model?

On a sidenote though…. was I the only one freaked out by how freakishly angry the goomba’s faces looked.
Not horribly angry, but so angry in the degree that their faces looked that I literally would not want to be standing in front of one of them while they weren’t even attacking me looking at how angry their faces looked. 😂
This is absolutely amazing! I love how you stayed true to the real Mario Bros layout in the game. you even made the flying turtles look graceful. Lol

I was alive in 1993. I remember the live action horror show that was The Mario Bros Movie. Please never let that happen again.
The original movie from the 90s was live action and everyone hated it. Still a classic though

In an alternate universe the 1993movie was a massive success and the 2023 movie was a straight remake of it and this was the video tie in to the movie.
Your dedication to your project is incredible! As was your initial idea and explanations and working out of problems in previous videos. This newest video is mind boggling! I cannot wait for the future of gaming to catch up to what you’ve done.

The realistic ambient nature sounds and impressive graphics add a hilarious touch to the 8-bit audio.
This was 5 minutes and 33 seconds of pure joy and nostalgia highly appreciate the efforts of the creater 👏

@@iwin2655 some people get nostalgia from something being similar enough. The only thing different is the realistic 3D environment. Everything else is directly modeled after original. Movements, sounds and etc

@@recca7 they can sue, but won't win anything. It's a passion project being made out of open source software which would be free to the public ... All Nintendo can do is bitch constantly to keep it from happening, they will never get compensation out of it. If the project devs don't make money, then I think publishers should keep their mouths shut... And maybe try taking some good advice instead.

This looks so good to me. I think the camera should be static "Run to Right" by default, but for sequences like a boss encounter or that area with the flame spinners, the camera should swing behind for third person. Maybe also could use a free camera on demand option to look around, or even for some hidden things. I love this though. I played the original when I was a child and I never thought I would see even this much of the game like this. I am fulfilled. Great job.

Well done! Wasn't sure about the 3D perspectives at first, but by keeping true to the 2D world playfield, and remaining faithful to the level layouts, you've created something familiar yet altogether different, and I would LOVE to play it. Chris Pratt is the icing on the bizarro cake.

Wow, how delightfully nostalgic and, at the same time, surrealistic! It almost looks like as if Mario has realized that he is now a character in a game and can choose to move in three dimensions while everyone else follows two-dimensional pathways. This makes for great and interesting gameplay with the possibility for new game mechanics and fantastic cheats.... superior work, mate! 😀

This is awesome and I think amazing, but you can tell they didn't have the fire flower programmed in because he took intentional damage anytime he came to a power up block. Really wanted to see some fireballs flying
