i was wondering the same thing it is legal to own the firearm so this makes no sense
Generally speaking many statutes make it separately illegal or enhance punishment to possess a firearm while committing another crime (Drug possession is a big one) or in a restricted area (gun free zones: schools, airports, government buildings). Could be other ways too
Despite all his comments about clearly illegal, that isnt the actual standard. The only reason a cop can't search your guitar case without as a single purpouse container is because they are also known to be used to hold guns. It just has to be so clear from the outside what is in the inside that it qualifies as being in plain view.
Similarly, if guns are not inherently illegal, why is simply possessing one enough for police to legally use lethal force?
@adalier3579 That still doesn't address the underlying problem here considering guns are inherently legal and should not be subject to this exception. The examples you gave can also apply to using your house, your car etc in illegal ways, but your rights are still upheld (for good reason). I don't believe a gun case would or should ever fall under this made up "exception" as the 2nd A overrides that nonsense. This scenario is creating what if's to what if's and is ripe for abuse.

What if you’re a criminal? Would you encourage them to speak the the police?
Had bad police try this on me...they opened the cases illegally and found bottles of wine purchaced from a local shop. One of the bad police officers took a bottle and was in court a week later explaining to the judge why he was on dash cam stealing a bottle of wine.
Expect anything living in a corrupt country been that way since Plymouth Rock. History dictates humans cannot survive without corruption so deal with it

At this point I bet a lot of people have had more crimes committed against them by criminal cops & govt 'officials' than outlaw criminals.

Same. I use my old cases from the manufacturer to hold hand tools that didn't come with cases. Because none of my guns are stored in cases, particularly when I'm on the go.

A lot of professional photographers used to use Igloo coolers for their cameras and lenses instead of the high end camera cases or Pelican cases. Their reasoning was that if someone looks in the vehicle and sees a Pelican or other high end case, it's basically *screaming* "STEAL ME" whereas the old cooler was likely to be ignored.

Illegal to possess a firearm anywhere within 1,000 ft of school property with few exceptions. One being if you have a ccp issued in the state the school exists. That means if you live in a state that does not require a ccp and you drive past a school with a firearm in your car, you face up to 5 years in prison. So much for constitutional carry

so basically the worst thing to store a gun in, is the safest thing to keep the gun in. makes sense.
This is about a gun CASE, not a gun SAFE. Two different things. My gun case only has the flimsiest of latches and it would pop open at the slightest bump (I keep my bologna sammiches in there). My gun safe is kept at home and can only be opened by a 4-digit pin code. When I am transporting my gun, I use a completely different container that no one would suspect is carrying a gun.
Steve: Great choice of subject. Years ago, I owned a fully-automatic Thompson .45 ACP, which was registered and the tax paid. Since there were no cases manufactured that would properly fit it, I purchased a used cello case, refurbished it and replaced the interior with wood and leather that I custom cut to fit the gun and 2 drum magazines. I was once pulled over on my way home from the outdoor gun range. The cello case sat in the back seat. The officer asked me, “Are you a musician ?”, to which I replied, “Yes sir”. He was absolutely clueless about the contents of the cello case. By the way, I was technically not lying, because I do play the piano and the harpsichord! He wrote me a B.S. ticket for a broken taillight and sent me on my way. I was still irritated that I had received a ticket, so along the way home, I stopped in front of my bank and photographed the back of my car with the Bank’s sign showing the date and time, only 18 minutes after the time written on the ticket. I requested a court date, went before the judge, showed him my ticket and my photo. He not only dismissed the charge but said that he would be contacting the police chief to ask why his officers were writing Ickes with bogus charges. There were cheers from others in the courtroom!
A few years ago I received a parking ticket in the mail on which was written my license tag number but a different vehicle, not mine. Probably the vision-impaired parking ticket officer didn't know the difference between similar-looking Georgia and Florida license plates. So I went to court to fight the ticket. Also present was a group of officers, probably including the one who wrote the parking ticket. I showed the judge my automotible's registration, and she dismissed the ticket. I asked the judge if I could cross examine the officer who wrote the ticket. My plan was to ask if they knew the difference between a peach and an orange*. The judge said "No sir, I've already dismissed your ticket, so you may leave now." I did.
* Georgia license plates have a peach in the center and Florida plates have an orange in the center. The cop didn't know the difference. I guess he/she doesn't like fruit.
Years ago I work the door at a college bar in my town. I drove to work one night instead of walking. It was also the night after a close cousin was killed in a car wreck on the way home, so that should give you a clue to my mental state. After close to keep the people on the block happy we would walk around the block to make sure the college kids weren't watering plants and such if you know what i mean. We had a Sgt from the local PD who would sit across the street on special duty incase we need PD. He was a old school officer who started after he got back from Nam. He was the type who would put someone in the car and go drop them on campus and tell them not to come back till next weekend vs messing there life up over one stupid thing in college. 😮Super chilled and level headed. So we go for our walk that night and he comes with use like he would sometimes. We pass my truck and I had a parking ticket for within 17 feet of a crosswalk, stating my tailgate was blocking the cross walk. I lost it said somethings Don could of arrested me for but heknew what I was going through amd found out later he was surprised worked that night with everything i was going through. I even flatout asked if the PD always lye to get thirty dollors and he said that I was inside the 17 feet of the corner but still a good five feet from the crosswalk. He calmed me down best he could and I was sent back to the bar to cool off and they walked the block. When they got back don asked to see the ticket. He wrote something on his note pad and said he knew the guy and he was a new guy. I remember telling him to pass some choice word along to him and that I would see him in court just on the fact the guy lied on the ticket. Don told me not to worry about it and told the bar tender to give me a beer, to calm down and walk the four block home like I normally did and get my truck in the morning. I was in my mid twenties and the other guys were all in college and Don was like the cool wise grandfather to all of use. I did like he said. Two weeks later I went to court to fight the ticket and the hearing officer scanned the barcode close to a dozen times and searched by my plate and vin and had no record of the ticket. He told me that to the court is was never issues and have a good day. I saw Don that night and told him and he just smiled and said 'I told you not to worry about it'. I don't know if he had me leave my truck and called the officer over and explained what I was dealing with that weekend or just showed the officer my truck and asked him to show to a 20 plus year veteran with the department my tailgate in the crosswalk. But what ever he did he convinced the officer to forget to file his copy and gave me and i sure the officer a lesson.

Never answer the door or open the door for the Police if you did not call them.
And, never call the cops. They can never get there fast enough to help and they will ALWAYS make a bad situation worse.
Even if you DID call them, unless it involves a problem you can't fix inside your home. And there aren't very many problems that a gun owner can't fix in their home...

This doesn't always work. Refusing a statement is often interpreted by officers as "being hostile." Even politely rebuking them is often considered "raising your voice." There are just too many cops that will take this and try to escalate the situation into something it's not because you're "not fully cooperating."

That is true. However, I know a lot of retired officers that are of the flavor that believe if you have nothing to hide then why not talk to the police. He started his adult life as a street officer and retired as a detective in a small town. Then spent nearly 20 years as an associate pastor at my church. I have a lot of respect for him but we definitely disagree on this point.
Police are the strong arm of the law. Their job is to investigate crimes, ask questions, build a case against the defendant.
"Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law" actually it WILL BE used AGAINST YOU. There is no "may be" in this. And there is no "in your favor" either.
That is the nature of the job. Cops are NOT the judge. A judge is ELECTED and that is who should decide your case.
If Cops were acting as the judge, armed t the teeth, with their own granted license to shoot. The world would be very dark indeed.

If a cop orders you to get out of your car, you MUST leave the car. If you don't he is allowed to force the door (if locked) and pull you out - now you have resisted & will be arrested. The cop is also allowed to do a preliminary pat-down at the side of the car to see if you are carrying any dangerous weapon. Don't go back to his car with him and NEVER get into his car unless you have been formally detained.
Any weapon you are carrying should be put under the seat or out of sight before the cop gets to the car - and don't make it look furtive when you hide it. Don't have any holster or sheath that can't be quickly unhooked as taking off your belt is damn suspicious. An empty holster is grounds for "probable cause." Better yet, take any weapons off & put them out of sight before you start driving. You might want to be sure you can get to a (legal) gun quickly in case you are being carjacked, though. That's a tough one to figure out. Put the weapon between the seat & console & cover it with a cloth so it isn't visible through the windows perhaps. By the way, I've never heard of a cop frisking you on your upper chest where you might be wearing a neck knife - but they will find it at the station if you are arrested.
Always film everything with your phone or an inside car camera. Don't forget to include a shot of your face so you can counter a cop's claim that you had red eyes or were sweating or had too-small or too-big pupils. Include audio so you can demonstrate that you weren't slurring your words & that the cop didn't lie to you to trick you into giving up your rights. If you can get an in-car camera or a phone camera app that streams to the cloud in realtime, so much the better as the cop can't just take the camera or phone & it is his word against yours.
You MUST:
1. Identify yourself
2. Show required documents (license, insurance card & in some states, registration). Don't keep a gun in the glove compartment if you have to open it to get your documents - that becomes "plain sight."
3. Get out of the car if ordered
4. Allow a basic pat-down.
You should respond to the first question outside of these requests, like "Do you know why I stopped you?" or "Where are you going?" with "Officer, I respectfully decline to answer any questions at this time." It is your 5th Amendment right not to help the cop try build a case against you with your own answers. Remember, Miranda says "Anything you say can and will be used against you in court." There's nothing in that warning that says "Anything you say can and will be used for your defense in court." Don't try to talk your way OUT of something.
If a cop asks you if he can search your car, "Officer, I respectfully deny permission to search my vehicle." 4th Amendment
If a cop tries without probable cause to detain you longer than it would take to write out your ticket (say to get a drug dog brought out), you are being illegally detained. Ask if you are free to go & get out of Dodge.
If a cop tries to do a field sobriety test, refuse politely (always be calm, polite & reasonable - anger only makes the cop more likely to detain you). You can blow 0% and a cop can STILL make it look like you failed the test. In some states, refusal to do a field sobriety test will get you arrested & taken down to the jail for a more accurate test - which you should say you request a lawyer be present first. Get that on the record.
All they have to do is touch the door and you can't close it. Any pressure is assault to the officer. That's how they get you.
I was a small-town cop (PT) for almost 20 years. I am pro-LE, but I am also very libertarian-minded. I hate that the history (and, frankly, current state) of law enforcement is such that lawyers such as this are necessary, and that "don't talk to the police" really is such prudent advice!
Yes, thank you for pointing out the obvious, if people understood the importance of preserving their God-given rights we wouldn't have gotten into this situation where because of ignorance and fear we are on the verge of absolute tyranny.
It's largely due to policies & laws that disconnect cops from consequences for their misbehaviors. Without those, the kind of people who would be active police would be filtered to a much higher quality level.
Thats why i lug around my gat in a carved out law textbook. Cops seem to be allergic to those.

Pragmatic solution: Jury nullify all firearms charges. All. Even felon in possession. Congressess lack standing to pass arms restraints for the non-incarcerated or uncondemned.
I get called in for jury duty at least once every year. But you would think that they would know better and that they have learned.
At the beginning of the jury selection process, I simply stand up and clearly state - juror nullification. Tell as many as possible to go ahead and look it up, if they do not want to be there. Also have a few one sheet print outs for anyone without access to look it up
Never help police with your firearm.
I once put donuts inside a black portable propane stove plastic case and put a padlock on it.. A cop asked if he can look inside. I said no. He then called his supervisor and other cops to intimidate me into opening it. I waited until everyone's around then open the case revealing all the donuts. I then told them they're all being recorded doing an illegal search without a warrant.
I've never seen so many cops quickly vanish like ninjas before.
However, I later found out that they were actually abducted by aliens wanting the donuts for themselves.

I carried mine in a cheap styrofoam ice chest in the backseat. So I didnt worry about someone breaking into the car to steal anything.

Nowadays, especially with the Extreme Court, the court has the authority to say anything it wants to. They have even ruled parts of the actual Constitution are unconstitutional to help their candidate.

I read in the news that some guys intended to clean them then use them to serve bottled beer on ice. You can still research this story in the archives of the Miami Herald!

Retired deputy chief/LEO, no matter how good your intentions NEVER TALK TO THE POLICE w/o an attorney, period. Be polite and say “I respectfully request to have an attorney present before answering questions” and repeat just that phrase each time they ask again. If your in custody or detained its worth repeating, NEVER TALK TO THE POLICE. If they investigate and say by not answering you interfering with their investigation, you can simply be polite and tell them you are not answering questions. Simply remaining silent does invoke any rights, you will need to actually tell them you are not answering questions with out an attorney. You have no legal obligation to assist with their investigation unless you receive a subpoena and then consult with an attorney. It’s not being rude or disrespectful, just be polite and respectful.
Can you do this if pulled over in a vehicle?
They do whatever they want when they feel like it then they investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing

Imagine my mirth when a cop insisted on opening a pelican case in the back seat of my car, which he claimed was a gun case. You could have bought him for a nickel when he opened it and my SCUBA regulator and diving computer were inside. I asked him, "Anything else, deputy? I almost burst holding back my laughter.

That shouldn't fly any more to many people are dead because of it. Do not relinquish your weapon, they don't need to see it or touch it. They damn sure won't let you see or hold their's.
Cops in busy cities spend their entire shift responding to call after call. They really don't care about questionable legal quagmires. They are only concerned about clearing the call and moving on to the next one...even if that means some of their actions may be illegal or just wrong. Cops are trained on basic law and defer case dispositions to the DA and lawyers. Most cops have the DA's cell phone number for guidance on legal issues. Most cops don't want to spend the time and energy on the phone explaining the details of every case in question to get a decision. Clear the call and move on to the next. This is largely true for any major police force in America and unfortunately is why qualified immunity exists and will never go away.

I took an oath at 17 the same oath cops, government officials, and many others take. Mine was military so I didn't deal with American civilians, cops have a tough job but wearing a uniform, badge, and weapon you stand for something or at least you are supposed to. Trickery is not one of them, putting someone in jail just because you think you can is not one of them.

Harbor Freight/Lowes/Home Depot all have small (pistol-sized) plastic containers that can be locked. I use them 11:04 for my pistols, some of my silver, and my tools. I have a color-coded dot on them so I don’t get them confused. If I line them up, nobody knows what they contain as they are all identical. Of course, the gun cases are fully padded with cut-out foam, but they contain at least one gun, extra mags, at least 100 rounds of ammo, and a gun cleaning kit.
I love those. Grabbed a few on sale for 10 bucks last week. Saving 2 for tools. All metric in one and all SAE in the other.

You would probably be better off with a locking handheld toolbox. If I saw a pistol-sized locking container then my first thought would be "gun case." Just because you put tools in a gun case, that doesn't make it officially a multipurpose container.

How would you make an algorithm for laws? You need a string of true - false gates but every question is answered with "maybe". I've always been amazed how old the USA is and we don't have a set of definitive laws. Everything has to be interpreted.

When I was in college, I roomed with the son of a locksmith, who taught me how to pick locks 6 ways from Friday. Since I was notorious for locking myself out of my dorm room, I just kept a pick and a tension bar under the hall carpet at the end of the hall for those moments. I'd pretend to drop something, retrieve them & (knowing my own lock extremely well) could get in as fast as with an actual key. Hah.

Gulf club hard cases work well in some instances too. It makes people in airports more comfortable too. My rifle case I use for air travel looks similar to some gulf club cases and has been mistaken as such, by people in airports. Obviously, I follow airport and airline requirements when checking such bags but general people are oblivious to what I am carrying.

I can fit up to 8 rifles in a golf club hard case. Golf club cases are also less likely to be stolen because their's not a lot to be had fencing golf clubs.
Take a look at tool companies who make stackable tool boxes. They make great handgun cases with the right foam.
Here's the problem I have with this doctrine, I can purposely put something in that container to prove this definition false. If I have a gun case and I fill it with batteries, its no longer a single use container. What do we do here? Everyone goes around with gun cases full of batteries.

Exactly. If they really know it has something illegal inside, they shouldn't even need to search it. Just slap an evidence sticker over and show their confidence by not opening it until in court.
There's no such thing as a single purpose container. A container can fit anything you can fit into it. You could fit a windshield scraper in a gun case if it fits. I could put medication bottles in a gun case as long as it'll fit. As long as it's legal and will fit.
You can even put illegal things in a case if they fit.
That 40' shipping container on your back lot might contain scrap metal, or your snowmobiles, or a nuclear warhead.
I use plastic ammo boxes for tools, business cards, glues, oils, and lost of other items because they are the perfect size and shape and are an efficient way to store them!
One thing you did not address was if the container is locked. (Always use combo locks!)
I got stopped for a broken taillight. The law is actually silent on broken taillights, only the color of the light. I replaced the white bulbs with amber bulbs. So no reason for the stop in Ohio.
One cop has me away from my car and the other is reaching in the window and opened a small 8 can sized cooler. This is my lunch bucket as is commonly used by blue collar workers.
I raised hell over him searching without a warrant. Second cop actually laughed. I asked for a supervisor and was also laughed at. I then told number two cop who hadn’t broke and entered my property that if a supervisor doesn’t show up I’m calling the sheriff’s office. Sheriff by the Ohio constitution is Chief Law Enforcement Officer of a county.
Be darned if they number two guy after being told I would press a conspiracy charge didn’t get a sergeant out there.
Sergeant asked why he was in my car. B&E cop said I was parked across the street from a bar. Yes, the place I worked was across from a bar.
What would be in the cooler asked the sergeant.
An open container said the B&E cop.
I laughed and ask the sergeant to give me a sniff for the odor of alcohol. There was none.
He asked what I wanted done. I said he needs arrested for breaking and entering. Sergeant agreed.
I worked with the prosecutor and mayor to reach a deal. He plead guilty and was given time served plus his peace officer certificate was revoked permanently.
This is literally unbelievable. I hope that happened, but the idea of it playing out that way in America seems ludicrous to me

In the case you state, what the cop did is illegal. A gun case may be a single use case, but it has to be an illegal use case and having a gun at a house or gun range is not illegal so he had no right to search it.
He was shooting in an area, that the case stayed was a no shooting area. Regardless of owner permission, if a no shooting area, no shooting. He admitted to shooting and he had a gun/guns in the case. Sounds illegal right there, Regardless if the nfa or state law was violated with an unregistered SBS. Search incidental to arrest.
The above is based off he was actually in no shooting area. If he was not, and allowed to shoot there, the case might get thrown out but based on the details provided in the initial report, he did arrest and search in good faith and won't get in trouble.

The young man was, according to the reports, but we don't know for sure that it was a no shooting area as many don't know the law on that, so the young man had committed a crime and admitted to it and there for the cop had probable cause to search the case. He didn't have the right to search the case without probable cause though because the case itself didn't say illegal and that was my point. A gun case by itself does give the cops the right to search it, which is what this video is suggesting.
Personally this is all meaningless to me as I don't carry a gun in a gun case anyway. It's is either on me, in my bag, or in a safe. I don't want people to be looking at a gun case and seeing there is a gun. I don't like to advertise I have a gun.
What many don't know is, unless there is a city ordinance stating no shooting in the limits of the 'city' then all you need to be is 200 feet away from any building and public streets. I'm assuming this is in the country where shooting in the yard is common and many of those roads are private property, so as long as he was more than 200 feet from a building, the shooting is legal. I say 200 feet, but that depends on the state. Colorado is 200 feet and Texas is 250 feet.
I bet he was in the country too because that would explain why he admitted to shooting in the yard. Like I said, it is very common. I hate it when city folk move to the country and then get all upset about the country ways.
There should be a standard "fee" for the police to search something based on a suspecion. E.g. if the police "smells" alcohol, and the driver has no alcohol in the blod then police must pay the driver a standard fee of 500$. That would stop these "smell" accusements.

Old timers would store their hand guns in a small metal toolbox or tackle boxes because the toolboxes often had a locking clasp on them. It's not the most secure way to lock something up, but it keeps nosy people and young children out.

Most guns aren't illegal, so, by the above definition, a gun case is not a single-purpose container. Most gun cases will have perfectly LEGAL firearms in them, and the fact that it is a gun case, by itself, in no way indicates that an ILLEGAL firearm is contained therein. In fact, off the top of my head, I can't think of ANYTHING that is generally manufactured that meets the definition of a single-purpose container as described above.
If you have a Glock case with a loaded Glock in it on your passenger seat & your state says you can't carry a gun in the passenger compartment of a car, but must carry the gun and ammo in separate cases secured in the trunk, with the gun secured with a gun lock so it can't be used, you are on the way to the graybar hotel. Hey - I moved from Florida to New Jersey. In Florida you can get 5 to 10 if you're caught with pot. In New Jersey, just go down to the local CuraLeaf store & buy some bitchin' strong buds. But make sure you have your Firearms ID, Gun Purchase permit & concealed Carry permit if you have a gun.
In many cases we can determine if there's a gun there it must be illegal already. Such as, you took that case into a school.

In the contra-hypothesis where somebody does try to take a gun case into a school and the single purpose case ruling didn't exist, I see a problem here.

You fill out a Form 4473 whenever you buy a legal gun from an FFL. The gov't is only supposed to keep it for, I think, 24 hours, but every one ends up in the NSA's massive data repository in Utah forever. If you ask an NSA analyst about gun control, they laugh. They know every time you bought a box of FMJs for range practice. They can even tell from geolocation through your phone how long you stood at the Sig display and the S&W display before you bought your gun and what parking spot you were in. They can determine that every Tuesday & Thursday you shoot at the local range at 7:30 PM. Then they expand the search & find somebody else who always shoots there the same 2 times. Then they expand the search to see where else the two of you are together & find that on the fourth Sunday of every month you meet at a private ranch. They expand the search & find 30 others who meet there at the same time. Bingo. Through datamining, they've gone from you shooting at a gun range to digging up an entire militia's membership & training site & time. The store has to keep a copy of the 4473 for 7 years, IIRC.

When cops find a baggie in your car, they’ll often claim that it’s drug paraphernalia. Single purpose container sounds cry much like profiling and shouldn’t be allowed.
So what I am hearing is that I need to use long-barrel rifle cases to travel with my clothes and other luggage on my vacations. Then put all of my firearms in regular luggage containers.

Originally trained as a LEO in the late 90s and have never heard of the single use container doctrine. And that’s with ongoing training from multiple agencies.
While a lot of things LEOs and FLEOs do today would make a reasonable person think they were unlawful and unconstitutional this wouldn’t surprise me. We frankly need a revamp so a lot of law enforcement case law and current common practices, like civil asset forfeiture. With todays technology we really need to limit the ever growing scope of law enforcement knowledge and databasing. We now have real time license plate scanners that can not only read every plate past and check registrations and for warrants but it can keep track of times, dates, and locations and can actually be used to map a target vehicle based on previous hits. We also now have public/private partnerships with camera companies, like Ring, to allow real time access to to imagery from participants cameras; the cameras are even offered to the public at steep discounts. And unless they read the discount agreement they don’t know that the law enforcement access can never be removed and stays with said camera forever.
Civil asset forfeiture is a disgrace. The DEA actually has accountants who can tell them which dealer in a city has the most assets to confiscate -and that's the one they go after. Another thing that should be changed is that cops should NOT be able to lie to citizens. A retired Philly cop I know who retired a white-shirt Captain confided in me that he never met a cop who didn't shade his testimony on the stand as far as he could to help the prosecution - but none ever was charged with perjury, no matter how blatant.

There is an old saying: You can beat the arrest, but you can't beat the ride. A cop can make things very difficult for you and require you to spend a lot of money even if you didn't do anything wrong. It's best not to piss off cops. Most city laws ae written very vague on purpose and discretion is given to the cop.
Example: In Houston a cop can arrest you for public intoxication even if you haven't had a sip of anything. A cop can arrest you for interfering with an investigation even if you didn't do anything but tell a cop to get out of your way. A cop can arrest you for disturbing the peace just by talking loud.
Don't piss off cops. Many choose that career for the power, they crave controlling others. Putting you in jail, even if just for the night, is something they really look forward to.
But if standing up for your actual rights pisses them off, then are you advocating giving up your rights, just to make them happy?
If so, then that's one of the reasons that they just keep doing whatever they want to do.

I carry my sawed off shotguns in an uncomfortably large open can of baked beans under my seat.
I use non-branded gun cases to transport tabletop war-gaming miniatures as the cases are cheaper than a PLANO case of similar size and capacity.
I also use surplus ammo boxes (the metal vacuum sealed ones) as tool boxes. Once, while buying some ammo boxes at the A-N surplus store, the clerk said that their was an old lady who used them to preserve spices that she grew.

This is why 25 years ago, it was pushed by industry and government, for people to carry firearms in the "new cool" labeled gun cases that appeared to be single use. "Mine says H&K", "Mine says Glock". They even encouraged people to put stickers on their cases and automobiles!!! Why would you want anyone to know that a case or a car is MORE LIKELY to have a firewarm in it? That doesn't help the owner, in fact i think it increases their risk in public.
Previous to that, most of the gun cases i would see were multipurpose containers, in other words whatever was the right size and cheaper. Somedays it kept fishing poles, some days it was firearms. And no one put stickers on their car advertising it!
Yep, I use the most generic cases for my guns I can find long before hearing about this so called 4th Amendment exception. I also drive a very common model generic colored sedan without any tint, zero stickers for anything on it, clean interior so as nothing there is nothing "suspicious" in plain view and don't get personalized plates on the car... some say I'm a bit paranoid but never had any run ins with cops yet.

Supreme Court has ruled that “the mere presence of a firearm alone DOES NOT constitute probable cause OR grant the use of ☠️ force”…. There is actually no such thing as a "good cop" technically. If a cop is totally on the up and up & follows the law to the letter, he or she STILL knows which cops in the precinct are on the take, unnecessarily violent, or racist. If he doesn't report them to Internal Affairs he is technically an accomplice before, during & after the fact because he allowed the bad cops to continue to commit their illegal acts - throughout their careers. The last honest cop was Frank Serpico and you see where that got him - he was shot on a drug raid when 2 of his fellow cops refused to back him up breaking through a dealer's door. Still, he is alive at 88 and he got Al Pacino to play him in the movie. So, I guess it all came out for the best.😀

Question, do you know everyone in your office or workplace, even the one's who work the nightshift? Secondly, do you beleive that if you report a coworker to hr that your coworker will be fired and/or punished with no exceptions? I'm willing to bet the answer to both these is no, so why dont we just back off from making wild assuptions anout people because they wear a badge?

My first take away from this is never store anything in transparent (ie clear) containers. Second, we are told to repurpose pill bottles -I use mine for seed beads as well as other beads, screws, nuts, washers, tacks, & nails -normally with labels...
