This happened to my mother 10 years ago She called the IT guy and told Jim that she was copying and it all disappeared. He sat there and he said both USB drives are not working anymore, and he right click formatted them both without even asking her. Too late now. What if it says folder empty? Everything copied successfully and then boom folders empty. I didn’t do anything, didn’t remove the drive, delete or touch it. Just vanished. But then I check the drive and it says 42GB of 998GB consumed.... I bought the drive from amazon 2 days ago for $20 and it the direction were written in Chinese. I’m so confused. It’s brand new and files gone!!!
on disk drill it says its gonna take 54 hours, is it because the usb storage is 2T? im really hoping this works because i have years worth of guitar recordings that show my progress since the very beginning. also just videos of festivals i went to with my dad to see bands that wont be playing much longer since they are old af now... im not even too bothered by the videos lost, whats bothering me is that my dad is so proud of my progress in music and loves the idea of recording stuff, theres also recordings of me and him playing together so i just feel guilty that I lost it all :( memories ill most likely never see again... im disappointed in myself

so it says there are hidden files, but they wont come out, ive tried the "pay for restoring stuff" to test and see if there is anything there and everything says its there but its not coming out, am i unable to do it through cmd ?! i never had the "history" option turned on so i never really had that option. but yeah !

'Tried the CMD solution: 1st command worked fine ... but don't know where the results went after the 2nd command. Then tried Solution #2, unsure if my Explorer has the 'Home' tab for 'History'. Downloaded DD Basic: I mistakenly chose a Full / Deep / ARMethods scan which produced 7.5 GB. Too much, most of which is safe and sound in the USB stick as originally stored. Q: Would DD Pro allow me to "retrieve" the file names I had for folders & files? I accidentally lost only a few folders (w/their corresponding files [hundreds]). Many in the scan are now renamed. Thanks! This happened to me a few days ago. When I was gonna work on some files, I noticed that my USB memory seemed to have cleansed itself of all the containing files. I panicked and started to look for solutions online and found this video. For me, it was Disk Drill that worked. Although some files were unrestorable, I managed to get some of the most important files back. Unfortunately, the second tip didn't help at all since the USB history had been inactivated all the time. From now on, I'm also gonna store files on Google Drive. That way, I have double guarantee just in case something like this would happen again.

When I use the cmd, after I punch in chkdsk X: /f command, it says file and folder verification is complete. It then asks (Y/N) to covert lost chains to files. Should I put yes and then input the next command?
How do we clean out the drive we just recovered from so we can use it again? Nothing was wrong with my USB drive. It was me. I was the problem. In an attempt to organize my files, I deleted all of them. 🤣😂

I know this is from 3 years ago but I think this might have saved me. the only method that seems to be working is the last one from what I'm seeing but the thing is still scanning. I have years of digital artwork I've done saved on that. a grand majority of it was stuff I don't have saved anywhere nor shown to anyone, as its not been posted anywhere either. Over 1k images. I misclicked when deleting a file and accidentally deleted the whole entire folder. I felt like I was about to cry... like I lost YEARS of work in the matter of a second... I hope this works, and like I said its already looking like it might... thank you... I'm so so happy this video exists I can't stress that enough

The CMD method, after copying ATTRIB -H -R -S /S /D F:*.*, nothing happened, tried it three times. I then tried downloading the Disk Drill for Windows: bit.ly/2JM6j7L but a window popped up saying it wasn’t Microsoft approved and suggesting I download an app from the Microsoft store. All the free apps suggested had low ratings so I didn’t. Microsoft won’t allow me to download yours! Long story short, my documents are still missing from both my Gorilla drives, without warning or reason. Any suggestions? Please?

Hi there! Did you make sure that you are running the command prompt with Administrator rights? That will be the only reason why you will get access denied while trying to run that command.
The third option worked, but some files are "unsupported," as if they're corrupted. They are files that needed to be opened in another application, so I can't preview them. Help?

Most of the files are still "waiting" status. Do you know how long it will take for these files to be available? I tried to viewed these files in waiting status and they are previewable. Also the "RECOVER ALL" button is not blue. It is still grey. HELP

Question - how on earth can you tell us to copy and paste where to find copy and paste the ATTRIB-H_R-S/S D X: and (two strange flower images). Where can I can copy and paste this strange flower symbol from? You simply say "copy and paste" this command. From where to copy it? That is where I stopped from proceeding.

I accidentally deleted files from my Android phone on my computer while it was connected (I was trying to transfer video files from my Android phone to my computer but I accidentally deleted those video files on my computer). And the video those files are really important, it's for a school project, it took me a whole day to make those. The device am using is Galaxy Tab S3, I also use Windows. Hello, you might be able to do so, but we strongly suggest that you do it on the same laptop, as sometimes the trash can or recycle bin are only located on the laptop where the erasure happened. You can try Disk Drill for free as well!

Oh Boy, first Command saved my life already, after i typed "chkdsk D: /f" it say "do you want to convert unreadable path to file" or something like that (it was in german and im bad in translation", and then all of a sudden, it worked. My USB war readable again, thank you sooooo much.!!!!

so it says there are hidden files, but they wont come out, ive tried the "pay for restoring stuff" to test and see if there is anything there and everything says its there but its not coming out, am i unable to do it through cmd ?! i never had the "history" option turned on so i never really had that option. but yeah !

Have W7 & SanDisk Cruzer. 'Tried the CMD solution: 1st command worked fine ... but don't know where the results went after the 2nd command. Then tried Solution #2, unsure if my Explorer has the 'Home' tab for 'History'. Downloaded DD Basic: I mistakenly chose a Full / Deep / ARMethods scan which produced 7.5 GB. Too much, most of which is safe and sound in the USB stick as originally stored.
Q: Would DD Pro allow me to "retrieve" the file names I had for folders & files? I accidentally lost only a few folders (w/their corresponding files [hundreds]). Many in the scan are now renamed. Would sure like to avoid reorganizing everything. // Thank you SO MUCH for your time, expertise & dedication! God bless. EDIT: Yikes, DD Pro is $89! Thought it was $29.
Thanks! This happened to me a few days ago. When I was gonna work on some files, I noticed that my USB memory seemed to have cleansed itself of all the containing files. I panicked and started to look for solutions online and found this video. For me, it was Disk Drill that worked. Although some files were unrestorable, I managed to get some of the most important files back. Unfortunately, the second tip didn't help at all since the USB history had been inactivated all the time. From now on, I'm also gonna store files on Google Drive. That way, I have double guarantee just in case something like this would happen again.

When I use the cmd, after I punch in chkdsk X: /f command, it says file and folder verification is complete. It then asks (Y/N) to covert lost chains to files. Should I put yes and then input the next command?

How do we clean out the drive we just recovered from so we can use it again? Nothing was wrong with my USB drive. It was me. I was the problem. In an attempt to organize my files, I deleted all of them. 🤣😂

I know this is from 3 years ago but I think this might have saved me. the only method that seems to be working is the last one from what I'm seeing but the thing is still scanning. I have years of digital artwork I've done saved on that. a grand majority of it was stuff I don't have saved anywhere nor shown to anyone, as its not been posted anywhere either. Over 1k images. I misclicked when deleting a file and accidentally deleted the whole entire folder. I felt like I was about to cry... like I lost YEARS of work in the matter of a second... I hope this works, and like I said its already looking like it might... thank you... I'm so so happy this video exists I can't stress that enough

Disk Drill is not downloading / installing to my computer. It keeps saying "Setup Failed" now what do i do?? I've tried everything, and nothing has worked!! I'm pulling my hair out!!! The CMD method, after copying ATTRIB -H -R -S /S /D F:*.*, nothing happened, tried it three times. I then tried downloading the Disk Drill for Windows: bit.ly/2JM6j7L but a window popped up saying it wasn’t Microsoft approved and suggesting I download an app from the Microsoft store. All the free apps suggested had low ratings so I didn’t. Microsoft won’t allow me to download yours! Long story short, my documents are still missing from both my Gorilla drives, without warning or reason. Any suggestions? Please?

Hi there! Did you make sure that you are running the command prompt with Administrator rights? That will be the only reason why you will get access denied while trying to run that command.
The third option worked, but some files are "unsupported," as if they're corrupted. They are files that needed to be opened in another application, so I can't preview them. Help?

I saved everything with meticulous attention to what I was doing and then later in the day, HOURS of work gone. Most of the files are still "waiting" status. Do you know how long it will take for these files to be available? I tried to viewed these files in waiting status and they are previewable. Also the "RECOVER ALL" button is not blue. It is still grey. HELP

hey, I used disk drill. Very easy but I can't afford the premium. Is it possible when using the cmd method to retrieve .NEF files without having to dismount the drive. Because my laptop says I should dismount as the volume is being used.. I'm confused

I accidentally deleted files from my Android phone on my computer while it was connected (I was trying to transfer video files from my Android phone to my computer but I accidentally deleted those video files on my computer). And the video those files are really important, it's for a school project, it took me a whole day to make those. The device am using is Galaxy Tab S3, I also use Windows. Hello, you might be able to do so, but we strongly suggest that you do it on the same laptop, as sometimes the trash can or recycle bin are only located on the laptop where the erasure happened. You can try Disk Drill for free as well!

Oh Boy, first Command saved my life already, after i typed "chkdsk D: /f" it say "do you want to convert unreadable path to file" or something like that (it was in german and im bad in translation", and then all of a sudden, it worked. My USB war readable again, thank you sooooo much.!!!!
