@@BIMvoice Would be so great if some of the basics could be posted on a website. Would be great resource for revit template managers to adjust their templates so we can raise the quality of the ifcs from revit.
I'm struggling to get ifc information like material attributes or even material properties from Revit model. It seems like it was designed to be hard to understand. Thanks a lot for the video !
Nice video, thanks. In a future I would like to have more similar videos explaining how to overcome (if that is even possible) some of current issues of Revit to IFC exporter. I would also like to someone point out great number of current problems with Export>Revit IFC exporter and its inability to accurately export important information related to dimensions or common properties such as eg. doors and windows. Also, it would be nice to someone could give some timeline or a roadmap for improving exporter to preserve and export information related to Revit material properties into IFC or to export and preserve relations between Revit families and their shared families, etc. The problem is that current vendors don't really care enough about developing good IFC exporter for their products (ArchiCad export to IFC is significantly better than Revit and allows export of separate layers of compound elements. Also, it creates new GUIDs for each exported instance of linked model elements, unlike Revit) Looking forward to some new videos on the same topic with Dion or anyone else already involved in development of various IFC exporters
You're welcome! It's not from BlenderBIM to Revit, I guess you mean the issues when Revit imports any IFC. I will talk to Dion and maybe we can cover that too. I also would like to know, why would you want to do that? What is it you want to achieve and what is the workflow you want to employ for that?
Well do you want to do that? Do you have things that are outside the ifc schema? If so, make a list and you just create it. Are you interested to see how you make that in Blender BIM or what tool do you use?
@@BIMvoice I use Revit for modeling, I'm studying better ways to export IFC with only certain parameters thay I'm sure of the results.I thought maybe customizing this user defined property set would be the way
@@fukuda6025 There are some videos about this in the playlist how to export from Revit to IFC. You can also check out the BIM Me Up RUclips channel. Lejla has some gread videos about this as well.
Excellent video! I love how everything with Dion goes into the nitty Gritty of why these existing programs are terrible
Thank you very much! He does indeed a great job!
Great video, thanks a lot. (The surface area of the beam was actually correct btw...)
Once more, thanks for sharing. great ressource.
Thank you, glad it was helpful!
Great Video! Thanks for all that effort !
Thank you for the nice words!
Amazing video! Been looking forward to a deep dive into how we can provide better IFC files 👌
Thank you Jonatan! I'm glad it was useful to you!

@@JonatanJacobsson That's a great idea Jonatan! Thank you for the idea, I will make something out of that, I promise you!

Thank you! Video on materials will be part of the series, so stay tuned for that!
Really informative video !!

Thank you! I will forward questions to Dion and maybe we can make separate videos at the end of the series answering to questions.
What about the other way (BlenderBim ====> Revit). Revit appears to ignore almost everything. Thnx for the video.

Is there a User Defined Property Sets template? How can I build my own?
