I m working on growing it but right now having a bit of a tech issue that i will have solved soon and then build them even more. What i find is the biggest struggle is to actually promote myself. This is an issue i have in common with many other crafters and artists. So much easier to leave the selling part to someone else but as a low income person i can't afford to hire someone. @@OldHag73 You are correct, self promotion can be quite a challenge, often crafters and artists just want to create and neglect the business side of their work, which is a shame because they create so much that would make people happy if only they knew about them. A lot of us love making the item and also don't mind selling them, but it is the promoting that is difficult and I think it's the self-esteem thing. A lot of us don't feel comfortable yelling out that we have amazing stuff because it feels like that we with that we say we are good because the items are made by us. I also sell second hand items and I have no problem promoting them. But the second I try to promote or share my own handmade things i cringe inside and just want to hide. And a lot of us feels that way. Even when we know our stuff is well made and we know the hours, training, material and all of those things that went into the making of an item it is still harder to bring ourselves to promote them then to promote something we are reselling.
I notice many people in the modern world feel trapped in the identity they’ve created for themselves and are looking to transform and reinvent themselves. So I take people who feel they are suffering as a somebody to the joy of being nobody, like how we were so pure and innocent and full of wonder as very young children (before the world told us who to be.) This is my first time saying this online. This video has been very informative. Thanks for being a resource for me as I begin this journey.

It wasn't even a choice for me. I am sadly financially-challenged, so am very much sleep-deprived in order to take my business off the ground. I plan to strategically re-invest the cash though. I don't mind the knowledge and experience I gain from investing time, at least I am now sure what I want/don't want. However, money accelerate your growth as you only have 100% energy. Paying a smarter person to do some of the work, increases the amount of energy invested, but with maximum efficiency given their specific skillset is higher than yours.

Hi Gillian, This was a very helpful video. I’m a freelance instructional designer and author, I have over a dozen books, mostly business nonfiction and some children’s books. I also have a RUclips tech training channel. I’m also releasing online courses this year, and my biggest need is to increase my customer circle. Most of us creators are not sales people, but I am using social media, ads, lead magnets and various strategies. What is your recommendation for jumpstarting selling online courses?
Currently I sell physical products for those who believe Halloween is a year round event and those that need some extra spooky / goth in their lives. My youtube shows others how to use the software I use to make these products, and I'm planning on creating resources for artists like me in the future. That's a long term goal though haha.
I started my journey in 2020 by focus on creating content, truthfully i didn't like it and stop in the midway. Because, i felt empty and didn't know the purpose of making content. Afterthat, I learn about digital marketing but still i couldnt understand the start process. My big questions, Do I have to build a big audiences to start making money? Especially i prefer to save my identity and not getting known. Thanks Gillian, because of your videos i really start to framework the process that i like! I have a which came first... the chicken or the egg scenario.... do we file for business organization/EIN, etc before reserving/purchasing website/YT channel names, etc OR vice versa? One depends on the other. No one seems to address the order in which the business setup should be done. Thank you, and blessings. 😊
@freespirit l recently released a video addressing this. :) If your generating revenue in your business and are needing tax sheltering options then go ahead and legally register your business. If you’re just starting to build your brand l say wait until you have revenue before filing. *Note: if you operate an in person business then check with your local city/state to see if you need to obtain a business license to operate

Some great tips! Glad you referenced Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Spending money to make money is important, as you mention. Making money online, can start with a website of your skills for clients to reference. Then if someone does not have enough followers or subscribers yet just starting out, perhaps running some low cost targeted online ads for a service is useful with links to your website. Works for me on Kijiji in Canada which is sort of like Craigslist, but more featured, and I can show samples of my photography business. I tried Facebook boosts but no success. Networking through friends and family though sounds interesting for word of mouth. Thank you for your tips! Learning online courses and starting a you tube channel can lead to traffic if someone has links to their website and contact page.

I also have a RUclips tech training channel. I’m also releasing online courses this year, and my biggest need is to increase my customer circle. Most of us creators are not sales people, but I am using social media, ads, lead magnets and various strategies. What is your recommendation for jumpstarting selling online courses?

Currently I sell physical products for those who believe Halloween is a year round event and those that need some extra spooky / goth in their lives.
My youtube shows others how to use the software I use to make these products, and I'm planning on creating resources for artists like me in the future. That's a long term goal though haha.

I started my journey in 2020 by focus on creating content, truthfully i didn't like it and stop in the midway. Because, i felt empty and didn't know the purpose of making content. Afterthat, I learn about digital marketing but still i couldnt understand the start process. My big questions, Do I have to build a big audiences to start making money? Especially i prefer to save my identity and not getting known.

I have a which came first... the chicken or the egg scenario.... do we file for business organization/EIN, etc before reserving/purchasing website/YT channel names, etc OR vice versa? One depends on the other. No one seems to address the order in which the business setup should be done. Thank you, and blessings. 😊
@freespirit l recently released a video addressing this. :) If your generating revenue in your business and are needing tax sheltering options then go ahead and legally register your business. If you’re just starting to build your brand l say wait until you have revenue before filing. *Note: if you operate an in person business then check with your local city/state to see if you need to obtain a business license to operate

Some great tips! Glad you referenced Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Spending money to make money is important, as you mention. Making money online, can start with a website of your skills for clients to reference. Then if someone does not have enough followers or subscribers yet just starting out, perhaps running some low cost targeted online ads for a service is useful with links to your website. Works for me on Kijiji in Canada which is sort of like Craigslist, but more featured, and I can show samples of my photography business. I tried Facebook boosts but no success. Networking through friends and family though sounds interesting for word of mouth. Thank you for your tips!
Learning online courses and starting a you tube channel can lead to traffic if someone has links to their website and contact page.
